Tina, quit trying to Shakabuku the World, you have not idea what you sound like, chanting is not singing, and shame on you for trying to gain attention for this.
I left SGI and returned my gohonzon 2 years ago. On my leaving, leaders quoted a phrase from Gosho, The Opening of the Eyes. 'For better or worse, to abandon lotus sutra is an act of hell' district people were calling me for about 6 months, and they thought I was going to fail because I left SGI. I posted my comments on SGI websites and youtube videos. They constantly removed my comments. I was really scared of this cult.
SGI members mindlessly quote Shakyamuni and Nichirens words to claim the True Buddhism and Law. Shakyamuni wrote NO sutras in his own handwriting. All sutras were compiled by word of mouth during several hundreds years after his death. It is fanatical to determine a specific sutra as the supreme and a specific individual as the true Buddha for the latter day. SGI self-righteousness and delusion are implemented by Soka Gakkai publications and its endorsers.
she is clearly SGI in this video because she explains chanting through God. All buddhists know there is no God. There can be no God. God is a mythical concept based on a creator personality. Creation can never occur and destruction can never occur (in a laboratory), so the concept of God is mythical. Tina Turner chants and gained benefit from the Gohonzon but now she is left holding the empty bag of the SGI which just uses the image of buddhism to further it's cult. She lost her way.
I hate Soka Gakkai because of the craziness and scariness in Japanese society and Japanese political scene as they have kept trying to control and change Japan in the way they like for over 40 years.
But, even I, who hates them, can admit she is such a great singer as I cannot see any diffrence between her Sūtra and Japanese monks' especially after 3:20 . Her accent and level of loudness is even perfect.
I have read SGI newspapers and noticed Ikeda constantly broadcasts his honorary degrees in there. It is common for wealthy religious leaders to receive degrees and awards, and yet the process and donation amount is off record. aNyway, when a spiritual leader brags about his awards on his newspapers front page, it is a warning sign. To make it worse, SGI members also brag about it. Soka Gakkai is a disgrace.
Ikeda invited Polly Toynbee to Japan, a granddaughter of Arnold Toynbee after his death. Polly expressed her honest impression on Ikeda in her journal. It exposes how Ikeda chums up to worlds figures. Some extracts as follows.
"I telephoned a few people round the world who had been visited by Ikeda....they felt they had been drawn into endorsing him. A silken web is easily woven, a photograph taken, a brief polite conversation published as if it were some important encounter. I talked to the Oxford University Press, my grandfather's publishers.......they had firmly turned down the Toynbee/Ikeda Dialogues, which were being heavily promoted by Ikeda after my grandfather's death..... "
"If my grandfather had not been so old or if he had met Ikeda in his own bizarre surroundings, he would not have lent himself to this process of endorsement. He was a frail man at the time, and by nature trusting. If our trip to Japan was intended to bind him yet more tightly to Ikeda, I hope the effect will have been the reverse."
After the excommunication, Soka Gakkai not only mass-copied the Gohonzon inscribed by Nichikan priest(1665 - 1726), but also they erased Nichikan's conferment inscription and modified a couples of characters thicker and longer.
Soka demonize the temple and priesthood, yet they use the gohonzon inscribed by 26th high priest with the said modifications. How audacious! If Ikeda had fabricated his own gohonzon and distributed, that would have been just as abominable, but at least less contradictory.
I can only say that I had a roomate that has lost everything. She would chant for hours, but from my vantage point, lost her children, has no pension, was evicted from her apartment and has had her car repossessed. It is so sad to see someone loose so much. She tried to convice me that SGI was the way, but she was not exactly the poster child. I only hope that she can turn this around
No doubt!! Clearly a cult! I have seen it in action and have seen it control people. The followers are completely "suckered" in big time!!! But for these people they are happy and at peace with life, so is it really much different that some other religions??? Hmmmmm......
Soka Gakkai is the largest and wealthiest religion in Japan, and the mother
organization of Komei political party. They conspire with the leading party and manipulate Japanese politics and legislature. They obstruct media criticism by paying massive money to buy advertisement spaces. This will differentiate Soka from other
religious organizations. Lets hope the same shall never happen in SGI. Having Ikeda as the summit, it may happen even though Ikeda has short years to live.
They don't use mind controls nor has anyone ever told me what to do in the more than 25 years of my practice...do you ever think or check the facts before you make yours snap judgements?
I think you ought to walk in the other man's shoe for a mile before you make these idiotic assumptions..good luck.
Learn how much Soka Gakkai networth is, the history of Komei political party in Japan and how Soka is allied with them to rule political arena, and how they came to support Iraq war.
Read Combatting Cult Mind Control by Steven Hassan, and Take a basic Buddhism class academically to learn the sutra compilation and its validation process. That will be a good start for a novice.
there is a serious problem with embezzlement at the Hawaii Nichiren. Many and so many people where brainwashed in given money to the Nichiren Shoshu in Hawaii. If you want to be a Buddhist you need to chant more than just Nam myo ho renge kyo! I rather chant Hannya Haramita Shingyo........Heart Sutra......
I donated over $20,000 to SGI in the past 10 years. the amount is not outrageous compared to some leaders, still, quite a bit for a working class. By the time I was donating money, I truly believed whatever I offer to gohonzon and SGI will be returned for more as I was told so by my senior leaders. I was naïve. The cult programming was gradual strong. Soka Gakkai used to suck a lot of money from limited members, today they suck small money from 12 million members, Very clever. BEWARE!
Here is an appalling quote from Gosho, letter to Akimoto . This sounds precisely like SGI fanatics.
--grave as are these prohibitions against taking life, it is stated that, if a person acts as an enemy of the Lotus Sutra, then to put such a person to death is to perform an act of outstanding merit. And if this is so,
So wait, some angry, mentally unstable Japanese monk in the 1200's carved a poor transliteration of a Sanskrit phrase into a piece of wood and suddenly if you chant that nonsense phrase over and over (and give money to support Ikeda's lavish lifestyle and legal defense) you can create world peace as well as magically acquiring that new car you've been praying for? There are some dumb ideas out there, but wow. WOW. Think it over. Have a sudden realization - that you're an idiot, perhaps?
To offend other people that you don't understand is not the best way to demostrate that you are right. Try to enter in the heart of a person without bias and anger allows you to respect and understand others' tought even when you don't share it. We choose different ways but we are ll human beings looking for happiness... sometimes we are right others wrong but if you don't show compassion and peace you are the first who is wrong.... sorry for my english, but I'm sure you understand me...
Actually, I understand SGI all too well, as I had the misfortune to watch its brainwashing, intimidation and harassment firsthand. "Human beings looking for happiness" often look in dangerous and destructive places - drugs, bigoted self-identities (as in SGI), obsessive behaviors and yes, CULTS like SGI. Unfortunately, the crimes, damages and violence caused by SGI- and the support and funds you provide to SGI- cannot be excused by your need for happiness.
My mentor caught me at a weak moment in my life and I joined SGI, although I'm a Catholic and I believe deeply in God and Jesus. While I enjoyed chanting in private, as it helped focus my mind, like yoga, the meetings were another thing altogether. I saw jealousy, argument, a lot Ikeda propaganda and very little love, compassion and kindness, as I see in the Catholic parish that I attend.
Actually, I was in the middle of severe Paxil withdrawal, severe suicidal ideation and drug-induced depression and severe anxiety. I wasn't sure what I believed in anymore. Chanting at the time gave me focus, but mass and prayer gave me peace. I was also told that SGI was not a religion and would not conflict with my true faith -- total lie. My "sponsor" kept trying to get me away from God, but God was always there. When I chanted I saw Jesus in the Gohonzen.
Could not shake that belief. I was also going to a prayer meeting at my church each Monday. I had nobody around me at the time and this person met me when I was desperate and needed a friend, any friend. I was going through the nightmare of a lifetime. It is clear now that my situation was being taken advantage of. I left because this friend actually made fun of my belief in God and Jesus. That was the last straw for me.
There are Catholics who study Buddhism, but it's not this faux crap that SGI is. Thomas Merton studied Buddhism, if you are familiar with his works. It has been a long, difficult journey for me, but I found my true faith and I am happy with it.
As I understand it, the original gohozon is a rock with a few characters of Sanskrit poorly transliterated into Japanese by crazy nichiren scrawled onto it. That brings you heaven or hell how, exactly? I'm not a buddhist myself, but I believe the teachings involve looking within yourself and seeing past illusory objects like 12th century Japanese schlock art.
Listen closely to what she says. She said there "WAS" an organization. Her spokesperson will not confirm an affiliation with SGI. There are many sects that chant the phrase. She is probably scared to death to admit publicly she is not SGI affiliated. You know what they might do to her next. Some of you KNOW what I am talking about. SGI is quite scary.
I've been dealing with the SGI cult since you were 7 years old - age is relevant. I have raised two beutiful kids, and that's more than Ikeda has done with his cult and phony photo ops.
yollam maybe your wife joined "the cult" to get away from you. Unfortunately you sound very bullish, rude and arrogant. I feel sorry for her. Newflash, most people on the planet have raised children, it does not make you special or make you an authority on what should make others happy. Live and let live. If you married her when she was already member, you should have done your research. It's your problem, nobody else cares, deal with it.
You're right - I was naive to think she'd outgrow the cult. I have to live with that mistake. That doesn't change the fact that SGI is a mind-destruction cult that promotes BS magical thinking and groupthink among its members. You can call me all the names you want- I've been tolerant of her "practice" and still occasionally go to meetings at her request even though it's torture to sit through them. Telling the truth isn't bullish or arrogant. You're just mad that anyone is criticizing SGI.
I didn't call anyone crazy. One needn't be crazy to be brainwashed, just susceptible. My wife grew up in a group-conformity-oriented society (Japan) in a family steeped in superstition. That doesn't make her crazy. It makes her culturally susceptible to groupthink cults like SGI. Personally, I think poracticing yoga would have all the benefits of chanting without the costs, the groupthink and the annoying droning of ancient Japanese-Chinese gobbledygook.
Oh, you're 20 - get back to me when you've actually lived a bit. PS- skydiving is just an example - it means do your thing, don't live for some after-death fantasy, live in the now. If you want to chant, then do that, but you don't need the SGI cult, its right-wing Komeito party, or the lying tycoon Ikeda to do that.
Lastly, if you don't chant everyday bad things won't happen to you. Bad things can happen even if you do it everyday for hours. Same with prayer. Chanting helps me focus on the things that I want to accomplish and reminds me that I can make them happen. I don't think that SGI is for everyone, but I don't think Catholicism or Hinduism is for everyone either. None of us knows which is right. We can only pick what we identify with most and try to be the best people we can be while we are here.
If I were to pick a religion, it would be the one that requires the least investment of time and money, since life is short and precious and not to be wasted on religion. My ideal religion would require only one one-minute prayer to be recited before you die. That's enough. We were put on earth to LIVE, not pray and wallow in religion. Read, hike, skydive, have sex, dance - LIVE.
I am a member and I am NOT a fanatic. I believe in what SGI stands for and I chant regularly, but I do not feel like what I believe is any more valid than what anyone else believes. At SGI meetings, members have even said that it's not important that everyone becomes an SGI Buddhist, it is that they are aware of our desire for world peace and will hopefully help us, but in their own way. And who is to say that SGI can be any crazier than any other organized religion? Look at history, dumbasses.
What does SGI stand for? Recruiting more members to SGI, and that's it. (Kosen-rufu). They pay lip service to world peace but do absolutely nothing about it. When Bush was poised to murder Iraq in 2003, many religious groups staged massive protests, but SGI did NOTHING.
Dear Yollam, because SGI is not an institution but a non governmental Organisation, it doesn't stand here or there. It is made by individuals and not sheep following a shepherd. SGI's members took part in the march but as individuals and not as part of an Organisation. There are not rules to be followed; it is all about taking full, personal responsibility. Just to let you know, Daisaku Ikeda, president of SGI
Not sheep? That's a laugh - this is a cult whose members put portraits of the chubby tycoon Ikeda in places of honor in their homes and revere him as being even above Gandhi in importance and virtue. Whatever.
It's ridiculous - SGI papers would have member believe that Ikeda is some "world leader". LOL! SGI *PAYS* so that he can get photo ops with world leaders and citations/honors from various cities (yes, cities SELL those citations!) Ikeda has ZERO influence in the real world, except over his followers, who treat every word he says as though it came from the Buddha himself. SAD!
I'm married to a member of this cult and it is extremely frustrating to love a person under its influence. It's not as dangerous as other cults, but the groupthink is there. It's been more than ten years and I haven't been able to change her mind. I hope everyone can find happiness without joining a groupthink cult.
Just because they don't kidnap you, steal all your money and make you commit suicide while waiting for the mother ship doesn't mean it's not a cult. There's a cult of personality around the old man Ikeda ("sensei" - LMAO), the group destroys individual critical thought, anything good that happens is thanks to chanting, anything bad is from not enough chanting. TOTAL CULT. My wife WASTES an HOUR A DAY chanting at that dumb PIECE OF PAPER.
if you think what ever you said is right. Prove it. Dont just say it and dont listen to rumours. we are all old enough to think and rasionalize. if you can think and only critize a person like that you are not respecting that person as a human and should not even call yourself one.
Ah yes, classic sgi - anyone who criticizes our god-like leader is not even good enough to be considered a human being. Are you going to call me the demon of the 6th hell, or some stupid Ikeda - twisted perversion of buddhist scripture? What hell did those 'demons' who tearfully accused their former teacher of rape- and gave identical descriptions of his body - come from.
up to date, Dr Daisaku Ikeda has been awarded 220 degrees from universities all over the world. so please show some of your humanity to a person that has contributed so much not only to a certain country, but to world peace. thank you and please take care
He bought honorary degrees from cash strapped schools using money siphoned from members. Have you ever seen an account book for SGI "charitable work"? Any actual results? Nope. They stage big "Ikeda saving children' events. Then they turn off the cameras, take the money, and run.
i hope all of you would really think properly before writting non-sense about a great person who has dedicated his life for world peace. if not because of this man, China and Russia would gone into war decades ago and would had changed human history for the worst. you might not even exist.
Yes making world peace by helping dictators like Coucescau in Romania - who was hanged by his own people for being as bad as Hitler. Or the drug dealer and SGI member (former member, he turned christian in prison) Manuel Noriega. Or American war criminal Henry Kissinger, who ordered the bombing of Cambodia.
ladies and gentleman. it saddens me to see poeple critizing a great man like Dr Daisaku Ikeda and the SGI. have you people taken the time to really find out what is SGI doing or are you just stereotyping SGI? Dr Daisaku Ikeda is a person of humanity. komeito is a total seperate party from SGI..
4 The other political parties hire volunteers during election. And they declare the miscellaneous expenses. Komeito does not even have an election campaign office. How would they declare the expenses?
5 In the other political parties, each politician has his own political ethics, and they discuss debate and adjust on policies. However, Komeito is monolithic. What has become of Komei politicians who opposed to Iraq War?
I've taken more time than you know and seen them up close- the lies, the violence, the brainwashing. Ikeda is a cult leader, a con artist, a rapist, a thief, and a liar. He's a nasty, corrupt politician.
Got a problem - chant nonsense and buy some cheesy sgi books and trinkets - that'll fix it. And if it doesn't then its because you didn't chant hard enough.
Right. Makes perfect sense to me.
You really never feel just a little bit like maybe you're a complete moron for believing in Ikeda, great buddha of con-artists, thieves and rapists?
First, 2/3 members or supporters is pretty megalomaniacal. Second, shakabuku amounts to violent harrassment, which is a major reason so many Japanese hate SGI. Third, Komeito's political corruption paints an ominous view of an SGI dominated word.
It would only be megamaniacal if membership equaled servitute- bingo! Blind, fanatical faith. Do activities for SGI, for komeito, until you're sick from exhaustion. Never question SGI, never listen to any other teaching, attack outsiders! That's the SGI I had to deal with.
Refer to excerpt copies already posted on YouTube from Seikyo newspaper, Akimoto Gosho, multiple media, and verity Soka Gakkai's intolerance of criticism.
>Sokka Gakkai does not = Daishonin Buddism
What is Soka's critical base for claiming the true Buddhism then?
Shakabuku rampage: actually I find that Daishonin buddhism is the religion _least_ interested in finding converts. It's ideal world consists of only 1 in 3 people Buddists.
Intolerance of criticism: How so? I see no evidence at all that they are less tolerant than other beliefs.
Moreover, Sokka Gakkai does not = Daishonin Buddism, anymore than Academy Francais = French Language.
They tone down the aggression in western countries as a tactical matter, but in Japan SGI recruiting is aggressive, at times to the point of physical harrasment.
"Using the massive funds generated by its 8 million members, mostly housewives and small business people, Ikeda has been able to build Soka Gakkai into a giant global organisation, aimed at 'promoting peace through culture and education.'
The expansion has not done much for its domestic image. Despite its lofty goals, some heavy-handed recruiting tactics in the 1970s and 1980s and its intolerance of criticism have left many Japanese deeply suspicious of the body and its leadership."
You need to talk with the washington chapters if you feel strongly about what you say. I as a black woman and poor student didn't receive the reception tina turner did. I was met with self righteous hate and indignation. A woman named Yuri here in olympia suffers from bipolar/multiple personality disorders, she's a predator and when she doesn't get what she wants sexually she slanders the individual.
i dont even know you and you hate me. world peace begins with me and you and everyone. so lets make a change and do something about this negative conversation. dont you want world peace too? i will not reply anymore...
>people who are bashing the SGI have alot of human revolution to do!
Do not abuse your religion to tell what people need.
Obviously, you have no clue how self-righteous and despicable your mind is. Soka Gakkai cult label comes from a centralized leadership, massive funds, shakubuku rampage, intolerance of criticism, ideological uniformity and self-righteousness as True Buddhism as they claim, and severe Komeito political rally etc.
i am 14 years old and i do not need to be wasting my time showing you how amazing this beautiful organization is. it saddens me that you are this hateful towards something very close and dear to me.
i dont understand why you called me an idiot for no reason.
All religions use world peace slogan as a pious public façade. That's not a SGI patent. By the way, are you really 14 years old? Junior high kids normally develop a good critical thinking. You seem to lack in that. Do some homework on Soka behind the scenes just to be fair to yourself.
I do know for sure what SGI does to people's lives, and that's why I hate it. SGI is the buddhist version of fascism; luckily the Japanese people are too smart to give Ikeda the thief the power he craves.
Really striving for world peace, huh? So the pictures of Ikeda laughing and chatting with wonderful people like Henry Kissinger (who ordered the carpet bombing of Cambodia), Nikolai Csauczescu (sorry I can't spell in Romanian, but he was Romania's bloodiest ruler ever, the historical Dracula included) and drug dealer (and SGI member) Manuel Noriega helped peace how exactly? They helped SGI earn money for Ikeda's debaucheries and legal defence- not world peace.
people who are bashing the SGI have alot of human revolution to do! sgi doesnt destroy lves & doesnt harrass innocent people. sgi is a beautiful & amazing organization. daisaku ikeda is an amazing man. mrschwartz please do not bash something unless u know the full facts. sgi has changed immensly over the years. it used to be the NSA which yes was a somewhat agressive organization. we have now split with the temple.we are not a scam. nam myo ho renge kyo really works
. if youre closed minded and really against something, you can delute real stories. please understand that sgi isnt a cult. far from it. we are really striving for world peace. youve really deluted the true essence of buddhism. why are you so against something good?an organization that helps people change lives. why hate it?
So violence against members who try to quit is helping world peace? Ever read George Orwell? I've seen first hand how your organization changes lives- it destroys them; its even worse than drug addiction.
I knew a couple in Japan in which the woman was a member who decided to quit SGI. They eventually had to move to Canada, where the husband was from, because of the constant harrassment and threats.
yes you are. I've experienced this personally. You people only care about outside appearances, if someone is spiritually strong you attack them until they leave or convert to your idea of perfect. You worship ikeda. You abuse people who speak out just like fanatical christians claim non believers will go to hell or are demonic.
Speaking of human revolutions, my compliments to the Japanese people for voting SGI's unconstitutional komeito party out of the upper house of parliament - only nine seats! The lower house is next. Pray all you want, you idiots are just about done!
His teaching, lotus sutra to be the national religion of Japan. He denounced other Buddhist teachings including Zen as hellish and evil. Refer to: four dictums (shika-no-kakugen ). His doctrine is aggressive, exclusive, self-righteous and often considered as right wing nationalism. Many scholars find it questionable to apply Nichiren Buddhism in its entirety to 21st century diversity.
Actually, SGI's political party, komeito, is part of the increasingly right oriented ruling coalition. They recently lost control of the upper house, due in large part to the corruption scandals of both komeito and jiminto.
Soka Gakkai members ignore Nichiren's detrimental teachings or they are simply ignorant. Soka Gakkai declares their practice as True Buddhism. Those who study Buddhism profoundly will never succumb to such a delusional fanaticism.
Also, Soka Gakkai Japan severely interferes with politics conspired with Komeito. Their political campaign is based upon Nichiren's Obutsu-Myogo(Fusion of government and Buddhism)
It takes courage for a person to stand up for their beliefs. It takes cowardice to spout slander behind a pseudonym. Nam Myoho Renge Kyo changes lives.
In our opinion, it only takes stupidity to stand up for Soka scams. And distinguish the difference between criticism and slander. Over defensive mind is primitive and cultish. Myohosister2 is also pseudonym.
Be logical when you argue.
Finally, all belief systems can change lives depending upon the individual needs.
*Do your homework before you post another amateurish comment.
I actually knew a couple who had to leave Japan because they were harrassed so badly after the woman in the couple quit sgi. And the Japanese SGI really looks down on non-Japanese; they'll take your money, but they don't consider you equals.
You're calling me a liar- I know your kind, and you all lie through you're teeth. Ikeda is the biggest liar alive, and a rapist and thief to boot. And by the way, the Japanese elections aren't looking too good for komeito- once you loose your political power you're all done. Ikeda can finish his evil life in prison.
If you don't know how Soka Gakkai conspires with Komeito, you are desperately ignorant of Soka scheme.
By the way, prayers and chanting are effective when you believe in it. People overcome problems by many different faiths physically, spiritually even financially etc.
In college I was involved with this Buddhist sect, the one that chants "nam myoho renge kyo". The members were aggressive in their recruitment of new members and conformity was the rule: do what we tell you. I wouldn't do that, and they tried mind games on me in order to destroy my self-esteem. They harassed me and tried to make me do things I didn't want to do. They wanted to CONTROL me. They told prospective new members they aren't part of a cult. They ARE. Beware.
i think it's a shame that had to happen to you. i have been a part of SGI for almost 4 years and we have never engaged in aggressive recruitment. if people are interested, we share our beliefs. but other than that, members are free to think for themselves. perhaps this so-called buddhist sect you exprienced was really a cult using buddhist principles as a disguise.
It was called NSA then: Nichiren Shoshu Association. The members would go out on the street, approach strangers, and invite these total strangers to a Buddhist meeting in their home! I objected to this, and was told I was just being "negative". It was a very unsafe thing to do, but like I said, their recruitment methods were aggressive.
Sorry, but I know what I saw and experienced and I know that SGI encourages members to lie when it benefits the faith, so I don't buy your rebuttal. I have heard that they are less agressive in western countries than in Japan, but the intent and the fraud are still there.
I hate this organization because I have seen it destroy lives and harrass innocent people. If you are sorry, don't be sorry that people hate you; you should be sorry that SGI has earned so much hate.
NO, you are the only one who hates me. You are the only one who has seen peoples lives destroyed by something that has helped SAVE my fathers life. I have met people, Over the weekend, that six months ago they were in the street without this buddhism. But are now in homes with it. I have been attacked by people from other religious background and the SGI is one of the few I havent been attacked.
Believe me pal, I ain't the only one. Look upon "victims of soka gakkai" online. Your cult murdered a Tokyo city council women who was investigating their corruption and had it covered up through their political connections. Its well known in Japan.
The only proof is standing next to fellow SGI members and feeling the vibe just by sitting there. The technical reason is that anyone can take the gosho (which unlike many other buddhisms we are allowed to read) and compare it to how the SGI is taking action. I really don't like calling it the true buddhism (thats just me)
Other buddhists are allowed to read whatever they want, and no, they don't die young or get terrible diseases like SGI tells you they do. And I've stood as close to SGI members as I care to- the vibe is 100% brainwashed.
NO THEY ARE NOT. At least not in the temple. The priests will tell their own view on what the Gosho says and says it is a waste of time and that they shouldn't read it themselves. Of what Buddhism are you?
I'm not a buddhist at all, but I've interacted with a greater variety of buddhists than you apparently have. SGI is the only buddhist sect which limits what its members may read or think, and the only one which relentlessly attacks other buddhist sects.
nope sorry. i've been a part of SGI for almost 4 years and they do NOT limit what i read or think. in fact, they allow me to still have my beliefs of God and Jesus and they do not degrade me for it. the attacking of other buddhist sects is false, in my experience anyway, i have never been a part of an "attack". it's a shame that there are groups of people out there who behave in ways that actually go against the principles of buddhism.
Odd, I was told that it was stupid to believe in god, that shigon buddhists would die young of painful diseases, and something I don't quite recall about the horrible karma accrued by zen practitioners and its terrible effects.
You know that was how it was 20 years ago. We don't have a problem with the Zen. I have never heard of the Shaigon. And people have thrown soda cans filled with sand shouting "Go back to hell you F***ing satan spawn!" and I am not prejudice towards christians, so you need to stop being prejudice towards the SGI.
20 years ago? Funny, it was more like two on my calender. You may not be prejudiced, but the SGI folks I knew definitely were, and violently so. I am not prejudiced- I have had enough experience to judge fairly. SGI is a cult and a financial scam.
No I have been in this organization for fourteen years and I have never met anyone prejudice... and prejudice of what?!?! Unlike religions like scientology we don't have to pay a penny to be Buddhist so I don't know how it could possibly be a scam.
Yeah, and haw many books and magazine subscription have you bought? Get the world tribune or seiko shinbum delivered? How much did your cult cabinet (gohozon) cost? Ever get asked for donations? Or to volunteer to do activities that involve hours of work and make money for the cult?
I don't have to buy the books, magazines, world tribune/seiko Shinbun, donations and I have done NO volunteer work that has given a penny to the SGI I only do it to encourage other members
Wow, you must be unique, because I've known dozen of members and they all paid out the nose. By the way, chanting nonsense in Japanese doesn't really have magical powers, moron.
My former SGI fanatic friend was convinced that if she quit or joined a different religion bad karma would cause disease, misfortune, and even early death. Sorry, you can't lie to me because I've seen the evil of SGI first hand.
But I am not lying at all. I have been closely involved with the SGI in Britain for years(multiple chapters), and I don't recognise at all your description. In fact, it is quite consistently the opposite of what you describe. It is the most unzealous, most pleasantly phlegmatic organised religion I have ever encountered.
I've been told that they tone down the violent fanaticism a bit in the west (as long as the money keeps flowing). Believe me, in Japan they are violent, cruel, and virulent to the extreme. That's what your dues and donations go to support.
Soka Gakkai cult label comes from a centralized leadership, massive funds, shakubuku rampage, intolerance of criticism, ideological uniformity and self-righteousness as True Buddhism as they claim, and severe Komeito political rally etc. If you are only chanting hours of daimoku for those you care about, You are innocuous and nobody will bother you.
What is your proof that we are a cult. You our correct I didn't choose the best words. we chant hours but we do more. I am doing all sorts of stuff for my friends. And I am the least innocuous person that many people will ever get to know.
First off, the form of the verb to be that you are trying to use is 'are', not our. Our denotes possession. Second, Ikeda bought all those doctorates with money donated / scammed from the faithful. Many universities will give an honorary doctorate to anyone who pays enough; if, like Ikeda, you can use other peoples' money, then you can buy as many as you want.
Besides your unworthy personal feelings about your faith, you sound supportive of centralized leadership and ideological uniformity. Human history has paid unthinkable sacrifices for freedom of religion.
Oh my god, Ricsson1980 doesn't seem to perceive danger in centralized leadership and ideological uniformity. Is he really a Buddhist? I hope he is not a leader. I would never want to be a part of organization where leaders think like that. Scary!!
-Feeling the evidence is the most subjective cognition. If that's your evidence, cherish it, go back to gohonzon and chant. Don't mess around with critics.
-That one individual (Ikeda) controls a biggest religion and political party is unprecedented in a post war modern world. Find out how Komeito wins votes and the head of Komeito is appointed.
You'll see how their rally is different from other parties. That will be a good start for a novice.
-Religious hard sales is self-righteous and totalistic, plus many people practice lotus sutra individually or in other organizations. What's your logic why people need to chant in SGI to be happy except your personal feelings, which all the other religions insist likewise.
-Distinguish between criticism and attacks Primitive over-defense is a sign of cult.
-Ideological uniformity affects the entire dynamics of 21st century democracy and diversity
Soka never actually does any good works. They set up big photo-ops pretending to do good works. I defy you to find one actually beneficiary of soka charity (besides a high ranking Japanese soka official) who has actually received a penny from soka gakkai.
When I asked a mid-level local sgi leader how they choose the leadership of the national organization, she had no idea.
People change lives for better due to many other things. Yes I don't deny that, but can you tell me why changes occur AFTER encountering this faith? The only way to present you the evidence is that you practise the faith by yourself and feel it.
People can change lives after encountering ANY faith.
Your response is typical of SGI based upon your personal experiences and feelings.
Any religious deity can be True from their subjective point of view. That's why we request philological evidences for True Buddhism and True Buddha as Soka Gakkai claims. A current philology discredits your claim in case you didn't know.
I saw people join this stupid faith and become completely brainwashed into spiteful, angry zombies who couldn't think for themselves and attacked the people who cared about them.
Wow I do not know who you watched brainwash themselves But you are probably the farthest away from hitting it on the money I have seen in a while First we are not brainwashed and far from it We believe in unity but leaders TELL us to not follow
the practice blindly They SAY to do our own research. And we have seperated from other organizations because they have tried to Brainwash us Angry? Zombies? We our an organization to fight anger greed hate etc We CAN think for ourselves and we are the only religion that has Q and A periods that can be supported by the gosho our bible ATTACKED? ATTACKED? This has got to be the most bogus I have heard in a while We do nothing but chant Hours of daimoku nammyohorengekyo to the people we care about
One, your punctuation is atrocious. Two, when you're followers are told that a criminal like Ikeda is saving the world, and that members of other sects of buddhism will suffer and die young, then you've got a case of brainwashing.
2.Daisaku Ikeda has over 200 honorary doctorates for different things. The record for most doctorates.
3. Is that what your priest/leader tells you? I know people in other sects of buddhism and trey practically fear the SGI. We will talk to any other sect of buddhism but priests from other buddhisms FORBID IT.
Are you of the nikken sect? (Not our you). No. I think nichirenism in general is a woeful misinterpretation of buddhism. I know that sgi is a cult because I saw what it did to a former friend who became a member.
What happened? She was used to do so much fundraising for komeito and to pay for Ikeda's legal problems that she ruined her health and became like a drug addict.
What year was this? Iv e heard of COUNTLESS people getting over drugs and alcohol but never getting on them. And I don't even know who/what Komeito is.
Why not people like tubecut and Mr. Schwartz realise the fact that many people around the world changed their lives to better due to the Buddhism faith before criticising? Be logical, there ought to be black sheeps. Can you say people practising other faiths are so holy that they never do something wrong in their lives? People left SGI as a result of human interrelationship, not due to the philosophy. Study Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism and you'll find a new horizon.
SGI is the sole org. carrying out the Buddha's work, and all who hinder it will inevitably come to plant seeds of negative karma in their lives. It's CASUE & EFFECT, bozo. Not SGI members going round killing ppl. It's like a warning tat by standing in the middle of the track you could be run down by the train. It's a stern warning dude. You don't heed it, it's fine! Keep living your life gruding on your beautiful conspiracies. The world really can't revolve with you duh. LOL
I actually knew one couple personally who had to emigrate to Canada to get away from the 'leaders' who kept visiting the house at all hours after the woman of the house quit the cult. Its also funny that they consider themselves the only 'true' buddhists. Their doctrine is almost nonsensical, which would be fine if they didn't attack more sensible buddhists for not agreeing with them. Don't get one of them started on zen or shingon or christianity. Talk about violent, hateful bastards.
In 1995, Akiyo Asaki, a politician complained vociferously that all city garbage collection contracts were going to Soka Gakkai affiliated companies.
After receiving death threats, Asaki plunged off a building. When police arrived at the scene, even though she was still alive, they kept her from getting medical help, according to her daughter, Naoko Asaki, the police tried to have her body immediately cremated.

To tell the truth, Christ describes about reincarnation already.
But Christian Church dont teach us it so much.
This thought is not special thing in Japan and Buddism.
I dont know why Cathoric dont teach it,but it dont mean Buddism is better than Christ religeon.
This thought exists over the world in origin.
It is near animism.
I could help a women in depressing by teaching the thought of reincarnation ago.
She was normal Christian, but she had been thinking death is end.
This is problem.

SGI self-righteousness and delusion are implemented by Soka Gakkai publications and its endorsers.
soul4train 1 year ago
she is clearly SGI in this video because she explains chanting through God.

CultNews 1 year ago
"I telephoned a few people round the world who had been visited by Ikeda....they felt they had been drawn into endorsing him. A silken web is easily woven, a photograph taken, a brief polite conversation published as if it were some important encounter. I talked to the Oxford University Press, my grandfather's publishers.......they had firmly turned down the Toynbee/Ikeda Dialogues, which were being heavily promoted by Ikeda after my grandfather's death..... "
CultNews 1 year ago
"If my grandfather had not been so old or if he had met Ikeda in his own bizarre surroundings, he would not have lent himself to this process of endorsement. He was a frail man at the time, and by nature trusting. If our trip to Japan was intended to bind him yet more tightly to Ikeda, I hope the effect will have been the reverse."

After the excommunication, Soka Gakkai not only mass-copied the Gohonzon inscribed by Nichikan priest(1665 - 1726), but also they erased Nichikan's conferment inscription and modified a couples of characters thicker and longer.
Oriddler 1 year ago
Soka demonize the temple and priesthood, yet they use the gohonzon inscribed by 26th high priest with the said modifications. How audacious! If Ikeda had fabricated his own gohonzon and distributed, that would have been just as abominable, but at least less contradictory.

She tried to convice me that SGI was the way, but she was not exactly the poster child. I only hope that she can turn this around

Having Ikeda as the summit, it may happen even though Ikeda has short years to live.

there is a serious problem with embezzlement at the Hawaii Nichiren. Many and so many people where brainwashed in given money to the Nichiren Shoshu in Hawaii.

And if this is so,
then how could it possibly be right to
offer alms and support to that person.--

Samalabear 3 years ago
you did not believe deeply in God and Jesus, otherwise you would have not joined the Nichiren.

I was also going to a prayer meeting at my church each Monday. yollam maybe your wife joined "the cult" to get away from you. Unfortunately you sound very bullish, rude and arrogant. I feel sorry for her. Newflash, most people on the planet have raised children, it does not make you special or make you an authority on what should make others happy. Live and let live. If you married her when she was already member, you should have done your research. It's your problem, nobody else cares, deal with it.
tsarita 3 years ago
You're right - I was naive to think she'd outgrow the cult. I have to live with that mistake. That doesn't change the fact that SGI is a mind-destruction cult that promotes BS magical thinking and groupthink among its members. You can call me all the names you want- I've been tolerant of her "practice" and still occasionally go to meetings at her request even though it's torture to sit through them. Telling the truth isn't bullish or arrogant. You're just mad that anyone is criticizing SGI.
yollam 3 years ago
I didn't call anyone crazy. One needn't be crazy to be brainwashed, just susceptible. My wife grew up in a group-conformity-oriented society (Japan) in a family steeped in superstition. That doesn't make her crazy. It makes her culturally susceptible to groupthink cults like SGI. Personally, I think poracticing yoga would have all the benefits of chanting without the costs, the groupthink and the annoying droning of ancient Japanese-Chinese gobbledygook.

We can only pick what we identify with most and try to be the best people we can be while we are here.
joseballsack 4 years ago 2

Look at history, dumbasses.
joseballsack 4 years ago 2
Of course there are religions worse than SGI. But the best religion is no religion.
yollam 4 years ago
What does SGI stand for? Recruiting more members to SGI, and that's it. (Kosen-rufu). They pay lip service to world peace but do absolutely nothing about it. When Bush was poised to murder Iraq in 2003, many religious groups staged massive protests, but SGI did NOTHING.
yollam 4 years ago
Dear Yollam, because SGI is not an institution but a non governmental Organisation, it doesn't stand here or there. It is made by individuals and not sheep following a shepherd. SGI's members took part in the march but as individuals and not as part of an Organisation. There are not rules to be followed; it is all about taking full, personal responsibility. Just to let you know, Daisaku Ikeda, president of SGI
littlebuddha80 4 years ago
Not sheep? That's a laugh - this is a cult whose members put portraits of the chubby tycoon Ikeda in places of honor in their homes and revere him as being even above Gandhi in importance and virtue. Whatever.

takeshimiyagi 2 years ago
It's ridiculous - SGI papers would have member believe that Ikeda is some "world leader". LOL! Ikeda has ZERO influence in the real world, except over his followers, who treat every word he says as though it came from the Buddha himself. SAD!

I'm married to a member of this cult and it is extremely frustrating to love a person under its influence. It's not as dangerous as other cults, but the groupthink is there. >Intolerance of criticism
Refer to excerpt copies already posted on YouTube from Seikyo newspaper, Akimoto Gosho, multiple media, and verity Soka Gakkai's intolerance of criticism.
>Sokka Gakkai does not = Daishonin Buddism
What is Soka's critical base for claiming the true Buddhism then?
tubecut 4 years ago
Massive funds: why's that bad?
Shakabuku rampage: actually I find that Daishonin buddhism is the religion _least_ interested in finding converts. It's ideal world consists of only 1 in 3 people Buddists.
Intolerance of criticism: How so? I see no evidence at all that they are less tolerant than other beliefs.
Moreover, Sokka Gakkai does not = Daishonin Buddism, anymore than Academy Francais = French Language.

They tone down the aggression in western countries as a tactical matter, but in Japan SGI recruiting is aggressive, at times to the point of physical harrasment.
TheRealMrSchwartz 4 years ago
"Using the massive funds generated by its 8 million members, mostly housewives and small business people, Ikeda has been able to build Soka Gakkai into a giant global organisation, aimed at 'promoting peace through culture and education.'
CultNews 4 years ago
The expansion has not done much for its domestic image. Despite its lofty goals, some heavy-handed recruiting tactics in the 1970s and 1980s and its intolerance of criticism have left many Japanese deeply suspicious of the body and its leadership."

Do not abuse your religion to tell what people need.
Obviously, you have no clue how self-righteous and despicable your mind is. Soka Gakkai cult label comes from a centralized leadership, massive funds, shakubuku rampage, intolerance of criticism, ideological uniformity and self-righteousness as True Buddhism as they claim, and severe Komeito political rally etc.

i am 14 years old and i do not need to be wasting my time showing you how amazing this beautiful organization is. it saddens me that you are this hateful towards something very close and dear to me.
i dont understand why you called me an idiot for no reason.
cookiedoughalltheway 4 years ago
All religions use world peace slogan as a pious public façade. That's not a SGI patent. By the way, are you really 14 years old? Junior high kids normally develop a good critical thinking. You seem to lack in that. Do some homework on Soka behind the scenes just to be fair to yourself.
tubecut 4 years ago
I do know for sure what SGI does to people's lives, and that's why I hate it. SGI is the buddhist version of fascism; luckily the Japanese people are too smart to give Ikeda the thief the power he craves.
TheRealMrSchwartz 4 years ago
Really striving for world peace, huh? So the pictures of Ikeda laughing and chatting with wonderful people like Henry Kissinger (who ordered the carpet bombing of Cambodia), Nikolai Csauczescu (sorry I can't spell in Romanian, but he was Romania's bloodiest ruler ever, the historical Dracula included) and drug dealer (and SGI member) Manuel Noriega helped peace how exactly? They helped SGI earn money for Ikeda's debaucheries and legal defence- not world peace.

inkstersco 4 years ago

Nichiren (1222 -- 1282) was adamant about
His teaching, lotus sutra to be the national religion of Japan.
Oriddler 4 years ago
Nonsense. If there is political bias to the SGI, it is, as far as I have seen, toward what a Briton would call the Left.
inkstersco 4 years ago
Actually, SGI's political party, komeito, is part of the increasingly right oriented ruling coalition. They recently lost control of the upper house, due in large part to the corruption scandals of both komeito and jiminto.
TheRealMrSchwartz 4 years ago
Soka Gakkai members ignore Nichiren's detrimental teachings or they are simply ignorant. Soka Gakkai declares their practice as True Buddhism. Those who study Buddhism profoundly will never succumb to such a delusional fanaticism.
Also, Soka Gakkai Japan severely interferes with politics conspired with Komeito. Their political campaign is based upon Nichiren's Obutsu-Myogo(Fusion of government and Buddhism)

Finally, all belief systems can change lives depending upon the individual needs.
That's nothing unique to your chanting.

To LFA00,
>We separated from Komeito in 1971.
Your statement verifies you are such a novice to Soka scheme because junior high school kids in Japan know this. Well, at least you are learning.
Here are our questions for you:
1 Has Komeito had an election for the head of the party?
2 The other political parties have meetings by regional supporters. Does Komeito have it?
3 How does Komeito elect the 3 major positions?
tubecut 4 years ago
4 The other political parties hire volunteers during election. And they declare the miscellaneous expenses.
Komeito does not even have an election campaign office. How would they declare the expenses?
5 In the other political parties, each politician has his own political ethics, and they discuss debate and adjust on policies. However, Komeito is monolithic. What has become of Komei politicians who opposed to Iraq War?
*Do your homework before you post another amateurish comment.
tubecut 4 years ago
I actually knew a couple who had to leave Japan because they were harrassed so badly after the woman in the couple quit sgi. And the Japanese SGI really looks down on non-Japanese; they'll take your money, but they don't consider you equals.

>And I don't even know who/what Komeito is.
The above is your own words.
If you don't know how Soka Gakkai conspires with Komeito, you are desperately ignorant of Soka scheme.
By the way, prayers and chanting are effective when you believe in it. People overcome problems by many different faiths physically, spiritually even financially etc.
That is nothing unique to SGI daimoku.

We seperated from Komeito in 1971. If you tuely believe that then sing goofie-goober jam to a barney picture and tell me all the benefits.

They ARE. Beware.
cynthiacher 4 years ago
i think it's a shame that had to happen to you. i have been a part of SGI for almost 4 years and we have never engaged in aggressive recruitment. if people are interested, we share our beliefs. but other than that, members are free to think for themselves. perhaps this so-called buddhist sect you exprienced was really a cult using buddhist principles as a disguise.
canihelpyou 4 years ago
It was called NSA then: Nichiren Shoshu Association. The members would go out on the street, approach strangers, and invite these total strangers to a Buddhist meeting in their home! I objected to this, and was told I was just being "negative". It was a very unsafe thing to do, but like I said, their recruitment methods were aggressive.
cynthiacher 4 years ago
Sorry, but I know what I saw and experienced and I know that SGI encourages members to lie when it benefits the faith, so I don't buy your rebuttal. I have heard that they are less agressive in western countries than in Japan, but the intent and the fraud are still there.
TheRealMrSchwartz 4 years ago
I am sorry that you hate this organization to lie about it. And trying to prevent people from seeking this buddhism :)
LFA00 4 years ago
I hate this organization because I have seen it destroy lives and harrass innocent people. If you are sorry, don't be sorry that people hate you; you should be sorry that SGI has earned so much hate.
TheRealMrSchwartz 4 years ago
NO, you are the only one who hates me. You are the only one who has seen peoples lives destroyed by something that has helped SAVE my fathers life. I have met people, Over the weekend, that six months ago they were in the street without this buddhism. But are now in homes with it. I have been attacked by people from other religious background and the SGI is one of the few I havent been attacked.
LFA00 4 years ago
Believe me pal, I ain't the only one. Look upon "victims of soka gakkai" online. Your cult murdered a Tokyo city council women who was investigating their corruption and had it covered up through their political connections. Its well known in Japan.
TheRealMrSchwartz 4 years ago
The only proof is standing next to fellow SGI members and feeling the vibe just by sitting there. The technical reason is that anyone can take the gosho (which unlike many other buddhisms we are allowed to read) and compare it to how the SGI is taking action. I really don't like calling it the true buddhism (thats just me)
LFA00 4 years ago
Other buddhists are allowed to read whatever they want, and no, they don't die young or get terrible diseases like SGI tells you they do. And I've stood as close to SGI members as I care to- the vibe is 100% brainwashed.
TheRealMrSchwartz 4 years ago
NO THEY ARE NOT. At least not in the temple. The priests will tell their own view on what the Gosho says and says it is a waste of time and that they shouldn't read it themselves. Of what Buddhism are you?
LFA00 4 years ago
I'm not a buddhist at all, but I've interacted with a greater variety of buddhists than you apparently have. SGI is the only buddhist sect which limits what its members may read or think, and the only one which relentlessly attacks other buddhist sects.
TheRealMrSchwartz 4 years ago
nope sorry. i've been a part of SGI for almost 4 years and they do NOT limit what i read or think. in fact, they allow me to still have my beliefs of God and Jesus and they do not degrade me for it. the attacking of other buddhist sects is false, in my experience anyway, i have never been a part of an "attack". it's a shame that there are groups of people out there who behave in ways that actually go against the principles of buddhism.
canihelpyou 4 years ago
Odd, I was told that it was stupid to believe in god, that shigon buddhists would die young of painful diseases, and something I don't quite recall about the horrible karma accrued by zen practitioners and its terrible effects.
TheRealMrSchwartz 4 years ago
You know that was how it was 20 years ago. We don't have a problem with the Zen. I have never heard of the Shaigon. And people have thrown soda cans filled with sand shouting "Go back to hell you F***ing satan spawn!" and I am not prejudice towards christians, so you need to stop being prejudice towards the SGI.
LFA00 4 years ago
20 years ago? Funny, it was more like two on my calender. You may not be prejudiced, but the SGI folks I knew definitely were, and violently so. I am not prejudiced- I have had enough experience to judge fairly. SGI is a cult and a financial scam.
TheRealMrSchwartz 4 years ago
No I have been in this organization for fourteen years and I have never met anyone prejudice... and prejudice of what?!?! Unlike religions like scientology we don't have to pay a penny to be Buddhist so I don't know how it could possibly be a scam.
LFA00 4 years ago
Yeah, and haw many books and magazine subscription have you bought? Get the world tribune or seiko shinbum delivered? How much did your cult cabinet (gohozon) cost? Ever get asked for donations? Or to volunteer to do activities that involve hours of work and make money for the cult?
TheRealMrSchwartz 4 years ago
I don't have to buy the books, magazines, world tribune/seiko Shinbun, donations and I have done NO volunteer work that has given a penny to the SGI I only do it to encourage other members
LFA00 4 years ago
Wow, you must be unique, because I've known dozen of members and they all paid out the nose. By the way, chanting nonsense in Japanese doesn't really have magical powers, moron.
TheRealMrSchwartz 4 years ago
>Other buddhists are allowed to read whatever >they want, and no, they don't die young or >get terrible diseases like SGI tells you >they do.
I have never, ever heard it implied that ill fate will befall former buddists. Where are you getting your ideas?
inkstersco 4 years ago
My former SGI fanatic friend was convinced that if she quit or joined a different religion bad karma would cause disease, misfortune, and even early death. Sorry, you can't lie to me because I've seen the evil of SGI first hand.
TheRealMrSchwartz 4 years ago
But I am not lying at all. I have been closely involved with the SGI in Britain for years(multiple chapters), and I don't recognise at all your description. In fact, it is quite consistently the opposite of what you describe. It is the most unzealous, most pleasantly phlegmatic organised religion I have ever encountered.
inkstersco 4 years ago
I've been told that they tone down the violent fanaticism a bit in the west (as long as the money keeps flowing). Believe me, in Japan they are violent, cruel, and virulent to the extreme. That's what your dues and donations go to support.
TheRealMrSchwartz 4 years ago
>we are the only religion that has Q & A....
What's your base for claiming the only?
Soka Gakkai cult label comes from a centralized leadership, massive funds, shakubuku rampage, intolerance of criticism, ideological uniformity and self-righteousness as True Buddhism as they claim, and severe Komeito political rally etc. If you are only chanting hours of daimoku for those you care about, You are innocuous and nobody will bother you.
tubecut 4 years ago
What is your proof that we are a cult. You our correct I didn't choose the best words. we chant hours but we do more. I am doing all sorts of stuff for my friends. And I am the least innocuous person that many people will ever get to know.
LFA00 4 years ago
First off, the form of the verb to be that you are trying to use is 'are', not our. Our denotes possession. Second, Ikeda bought all those doctorates with money donated / scammed from the faithful. Many universities will give an honorary doctorate to anyone who pays enough; if, like Ikeda, you can use other peoples' money, then you can buy as many as you want.
TheRealMrSchwartz 4 years ago
To Ricsson1980,
Besides your unworthy personal feelings about your faith, you sound supportive of centralized leadership and ideological uniformity. Human history has paid unthinkable sacrifices for freedom of religion.
Now you are destroying it.
You are the poison to the world.
tubecut 4 years ago
Oh my god, Ricsson1980 doesn't seem to perceive danger in centralized leadership and ideological uniformity. Is he really a Buddhist? I hope he is not a leader. I would never want to be a part of organization where leaders think like that. Scary!!
utogus 4 years ago
Soka also praised for efforts in contributing to good causes like helping social works and etc.
centralized leadership: organisations work differently
massive funds - for good purposes
shakubuku "rampage" - urge to change lives for better
intolerance of criticism: silly people don't defend while attacked.
ideological uniformity: does it effect your life?
self-righteousness as true Buddhism: practise & feel the evidence yourself
Komeito rally: which political organisation don't rally??
Ricsson1980 4 years ago
-Feeling the evidence is the most subjective cognition. If that's your evidence, cherish it, go back to gohonzon and chant. Don't mess around with critics.
-That one individual (Ikeda) controls a biggest religion and political party is unprecedented in a post war modern world. Find out how Komeito wins votes and the head of Komeito is appointed.
You'll see how their rally is different from other parties. That will be a good start for a novice.
CultCop 4 years ago
-Religious hard sales is self-righteous and totalistic, plus many people practice lotus sutra individually or in other organizations. What's your logic why people need to chant in SGI to be happy except your personal feelings, which all the other religions insist likewise.
-Distinguish between criticism and attacks Primitive over-defense is a sign of cult.
-Ideological uniformity affects the entire dynamics of 21st century democracy and diversity
CultCop 4 years ago
-Religious organizations contribute to social works. SGI is no exception.
-A centralized leadership erodes a modern democracy especially when they tolerate criticism least.
-Request a financial disclosure from the headquarter in Tokyo to verify "good purposes".

TheRealMrSchwartz 4 years ago
People change lives for better due to many other things. Yes I don't deny that, but can you tell me why changes occur AFTER encountering this faith? The only way to present you the evidence is that you practise the faith by yourself and feel it.
Ricsson1980 4 years ago
People can change lives after encountering ANY faith.
Your response is typical of SGI based upon your personal experiences and feelings.
Any religious deity can be True from their subjective point of view. That's why we request philological evidences for True Buddhism and True Buddha as Soka Gakkai claims. A current philology discredits your claim in case you didn't know.

Its also funny that they consider themselves the only 'true' buddhists. Their doctrine is almost nonsensical, which would be fine if they didn't attack more sensible buddhists for not agreeing with them. Don't get one of them started on zen or shingon or christianity.
