  • Shit this thing ROCKS!

  • So sad to know that Dickie won't be around "40 years from now"....

  • the best power rock EVER ... PERIOD !!!!!!

  • That was fucking COOL.

  • man that is the roadhouse blues from the doors!!

  • Highlights and low lives think ac/dc blue cheer style

  • RIP dickie - "take care of each other" peterson.

folks remember take care of yourselves too!

  • who gives a rat ass if duck is playing in clubs with cheer its called rock and roll and not being a suck up to the major labels. This Shit rocks and is RELEVANT more then today,s music also.

  • @hambone9119 OMG this fucking skivose Duck would'nt answer you if you ask him what time it was.Trust me.A suck up to the major label's he was not... He wanted a deal just like anyone else,he just blew it with....well being Duck. Now nobody cares or knows who he is.Shitty.

  • Well hes in Blue Cheer, so that makes him better then you will ever be.

  • Are there any worthy Blue Cheer albums worth getting aside the first 2? The only album I like aside those 2 is their latest.

  • @crowbarftw

besides the first two and the latest I would get other songs as singles if they are released digitally, the instrumental "Babaji"and "I'm the ligth" which has some great sitar, I like "piece of mind" which features a different sound from them. "west coast child of sunshine" features some great guitar licks.

  • i don't think there trying to be metal, and i think they are and allways will be phycadelic/acid rock, but i do think they are at least partly responsible for the creation of metal

  • 1:58 ahh nice T-Shirt

  • Grand Funk led me here! Blue Cheer be a kickass band!!

  • it's called ROADHOUSE BLUES

  • man, i just recently discovered this band. they rock. anyone know the name of this song?

  • To understand how really cool Blue Cheer is, you have to be 14 years old and it's 1967. You put Summertime Blues on the 45 turntable for the first time. And, you can't imagine, it's like the coolest thing you have ever heard or could ever experienced. Need more bands pursuing the psychedelic genre today.

  • Please tell me why someone hasn't uploaded 'I'M THE LIGHT ' by blue cheer on here,.?? a great song,..!! I saw it briefly a while back,...a fantastic song,..!!

  • Was the "I'm the Light" a studio recording that was uploaded? YouTube with Google are now pulling video's off the web loaded from CD's. The record companies have put a tracking code in that YouTube can detect. Live sound recordings can't be detected such as the one above or I'm sure they would pull this video off the air due to copyright issues.

  • Thank god for this band, uin my 30 years i've never heard before, one more kickass band greetingd from mexico

  • heh...guitarist is wearing a "Melvins Army" shirt...

  • Blue Cheer is not for heavy metal teens. This is for old-time rockers and hard-blues fans; Even I'm sure that guys don't like most of Zeppelin songs or first albums of Sabbath... but they can't say that!!

Judas, Dio, Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc don't have nothing in common with Blue Cheer... your're on the wrong video children.

  • haha why are people thumbs downing this its true

cheer is trying to be a metal band now but they are so much cooler on outsideinside and vincebus eruptum

  • Sure they sound more metal now and I prefer them on late sixties but the differences in structure, guitar style, rithym.... with heavy metal and moderm metal are obvious. If you want, watch at Rockpalast website a 2008 Blue Cheer concert and tell me if that's heavy metal.

  • Their first two albums are classic.

Their original gutarist Leigh Stephens is still alive. A reunion would be cool.

  • mannnnn, were gettin old.

  • Amen to what roksancastle said. On another note, yeah, their vocals ain't what Morrison's were when he was 26, but for 60 yr. olds and still playing this kind of music, they do pretty good. You really can't make judgement on em until you've heard their stuff from 68 - 69 while in their prime. Outsideinside is a good example. They weren't trying to be Hendrix, Morrison, or Cream. They pioneered their own unique style & sound & it was powerful.

  • The vocal work is pretty bad, but these guys, depending on who's point of view you agree with, were the founder's of the metal movement. I don't think they were metal in the truest sense, but I think their style contributed heavily to the beginning of that particular genre of music. (Really prefer Morrison's vocals on this tune).

  • I would love it BC went on tour with a band like The Stooges, or maybe Motorhead!

  • He interrupts the song to say, "You all got to take care of each other....You guys have to take care of one another, 'cus you're all you've got. You ain't got nothin' else -- I want to remind you of that." You White guys and gals certainly haven't got a government that cares about you. White Nationalism's time is now. No war in Iraq! No billion $ bailout for banks!

  • these fuckin guys are still around?!?!

  • Xtianguitar you are a prick! this is one mutha of a band and they have fucking deserved their status in the hierarchy of metal! Long live the Cheer..Keep on ROCKING Dickie and the rest of the band!!

  • listen to them on meth

  • go kill urself

  • Dogs Beware of the speakers lol

  • I bought their first albums c.1967.saw them live at danceteria in 1985. and like the dude says see you 40 yrs. from now. the" past " is just one second ago.

  • I THINK THEY LUK RATHER DIGNIFIED

  • speak for yourself!! I personally am glad that they are still around and maybe you should grow old be useless on someone elses time. Rock on Blue Cheer and other classic rockers!! I am going to see UFO next month and they may be older but so who isnt? They are still rockin and thats all that matters!!

  • They played the instruments well, but it sounds like they couldn't hear their monitors. Kinda like the old days. :)

  • Thanks dude.

  • Blue cheer isnt bad, not as good as mountain or some of those other early hard psychadelic early metal bands but not awful. This isn't the highlight of their touring career though, blah.

  • acid rock version of the doors!!! awesone!!!

  • WHAT A GEM! Does anyone have the song BIG TROUBLE IN PARADISE live?

  • ok, they've lost it, but Vincebus Eruptum is still a great album

  • this guys more out of tune than a than takin valium and blow at the same time in quanity

  • i thought i had heard of all the rock groups ever at the age of 39 and i just got wind of cheer 2 nite no wonder they suck

  • dude this is them like 40 years later. they formed in the 60s and are considered the first real heavy metal band. so don't think they suck, this is them years and years later.

  • nah man i went deep in youtube and watched all their ols stuff to they were horrible always out of tune and always so wasted they couldnt play well. I bet they had guys many times in the audience that might have signed them to a contract but they were always so high and playin so bad they ruined it for themselves..seriously they never made it for a reason. they stink or i would have at least heard of them like uriah heap, foghat, molly hatchet lesser groups wwo were great.

  • have you heard summertime blues by them? it's considered the first heavy metal track ever and one of the greatest covers of all time. then again those are opinions by music experts but it comes down to personal opinion.

  • ya i heard the who do it.....nuff said, this band sucks for a reason. They never made it because of the over-all OPINION of a majority of people....as far as the first heavy metal track ill go with earth back in the late 1960's, you may have heard of them they changed their name in 1970 to black sabbath

  • Thank you VH1!

  • ya..........i hate the songs......the wizard, warning, behind the wall of sleep, into the void, lord of this world, cornucopia, wheels of cofusion, n.i.b, st. vitus dance, planet caravan, the straightener, after forever....to name a few off the top of my head.....their 4th album was titled volume 4...a work of art...get a clue clown.....

  • hahahaha owned!

  • nobody got owned.........just dogrey proved he is an asshole is all......

  • don't mind dogrey he's just an idiot cocksucker

  • Well cholulasaucehot (yes it is), the acutal fans of BC back in their day were like fans of Sabbath. From 1970 on, there was no real "middle ground" with Sabbath and there sure as HELL was no "middle ground" with these guys back in '68! You either dug them 'cause they were so heavy, SOOOOO loud and NOT "sophisticated" or you just said, "Hey these guys ain't no Cream" and you went home! Talk to someone who saw these guys back then, they'll tell ya!

  • Ok cholula, to each their own. But please don't act like because YOU have never heard of these guys, that automatically makes them suck. I mean com'on! I don't understand how as an obvious metal fan you're not seeing SOMETHING positive in these guys! But whatever dude....

  • That's cool. I like Sabbath and Metallica, LOVE Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Pink Floyd. One band you seriously need to check out is Sir Lord Baltimore, an early metal band from 1970-71 that released two albums on Mercury then disbanded. Blew my mind when I first heard 'em. They've got some of their songs here on You Tube, check out "Kingdom Come" or "Hard Rain Fallin." And you could check out "Sun Cycle" by BC if you want, you MIGHT like that one. You just might.

  • Leave stupid youtuber kids alone Matt. :)

  • You're right OwrKeeng, it's a waste of typing!

  • Sorry,Duck is the guitar player in this video. He blew it big time.Loser.Anybody can play those leads.30 years and no record deal.... Maybe its you.

  • Did somebody take away your rubber duckie? Was it per chance Duck McDonald? But it's probably because he has $200.00 a night gig while you are pumping gas for a living.

Spoke to Duck after the gig yesterday, didn't sound bitter at all. You on the other hand...

  • Sorry Efrasnel, I guess you haven't had to sit there and hear him drone on and on about Savoy Brown and "the way it used to be". God, after a while it makes you want to jump out a window.

  • Well OK, I don't hang around that long after gigs and I only spoke to Dickie for a long time. The conversation with Duck was way shorter on guitar effects...). And yes "the way it used to be" is someone else's nostalgia and one is bound to say "quit living in the past". My apologies if I sounded harsh earlier.

  • Duck MacDonald is a arrogant jerk who watched his guitar playing career slip through his fingers. Give it up already. You don't have a pot to piss in. If he had done anything with his career he would not have to do $200.00 a night gigs.Get a job at a music store.

  • as a doors fan , this aint great

  • I am a huge doors fan myself so I don't have a problem saying that Vinebus Eruptum and Outsideinside (both released in 68) KICKED Waiting for the Sun(1968)'s ASS

  • i mean its a bad cover of roadhouse blues

  • Blue Cheer today is. DICKIE PETERSON -Vocals & Bass, DUCK MacDONALD - Guitar, and PAUL WHALEY - Drums. I recently interviewed Dickie for the Classic Rock Revival website.

  • dickie still sounds the same, this band is the best

  • You mean he's *always* out of tune like this?

  • FUCKIN' YES!!! HE'S STILL THE SAME!!!

  • Who's in the band besides Dickie? I can't tell.

  • Saw them in Charlottesville VA in November 2006. I can still feel the bass in my chest. Unbelievably tight!

  • awesome...awesome.keep still rockin.

  • Met Dickie 17 years ago after a show. Got an autograph on the then latest LP. Very nice guy, very relaxed and very patient. He had to be, I must have been obnoxious as hell...Thanks Dickie for 40 years of pure RAWK...

  • ROADHOUSE BLUES!

  • Nothing wrong with washed up guitar hacks. And as for being old now - Mozart's been dead hundreds of years. Does that make his music worthless?

  • wonderfly said

  • Blue Cheer were great! Primal rock - great hooks, baseline, vocals. Ahead of their time to be sure.

  • I know Andrew"Duck"Mcdonald from Florida. He is a bitter old washed up guitar hack who never had the nuts to take it to the next level. He once said he never signed a record deal because he didnt want to get f*cked. Whatever.

  • If they are so influental, why are they playing a cover of the Doors badly?

  • Dude they're like almost 60 years old! I take it you HAVE seen the clips of them in 1968 performing "Summertime Blues" on Beat Club haven't you? Well...actually they're lip-syncing on those clips but...well...the proofs in the pudding.

  • When I left the Grande Ballrom after seeing these guys and their wall of Marshalls, my ears rang for about 3 days. As raw and heavy as it gets.

  • Blue Cheer MC5, and the Stooges shared the same bill in Detroit in 1968. That must have been one wild and loud night!

  • freekin amazing. if i only werent born too late

  • Amen! Awesome fucking name too man!

  • it wase a long time ago.but still ok

  • Now that must of been one great show, WOW!!!!

  • I am in dire need of a time machine.

  • Rockin'

  • this is great i like the way they played satisfaction also this was a great band whos records were designed to really rock ya and irritate your parents all at the same time

  • This is the band that influenced BLACK SABBATH.

    'nuff said.

  • HELL YES! This is the SHIT! They should do a festival w/all the other old school bands like Mountain and Steppenwolf.

  • Blue Cheer invented heavy metal. The finest pshcedelic album ever recorded is "outsideinside"..live they are w/o peer.

  • They still play pretty well after all those years. Remember these guys are from the late 60's.

  • I saw them in North Hampton, MA, and they kicked ass. And Paul nailed the fucking thing. Blue Cheer Mother FUCKER

  • God they were terrible.

  • Yup! the montreal show was right up there on my top ten .

  • Man this band rocks live ! The Montreal show was one of the best shows i've seen ! Legends in my book. Please come back to montreal !

  • that's superb!

  • GODS
