From what i see, your plasch has the metal rings. Yet again, way way way post-war. We are talking 1980s. Rip them off and sew leather circles around the hole instead and remove the two straps you have on your plasch, they are for 1950's yoke webbing.

just a tip - mess around with your gear and get some experience and stuff with it - i also find it helps to put on your costume and dive into the dirt and stuff - pretty good so far - keep 'em coming
