The chances of hitting a plane that fly at Mach 1+ by a bullet that flies itself at about 1000m/s at any distancse futher than 2km is basically zero. @brucebu now aside from the millitary there is also the basij force which is a para-millitary force they were created at the time of iraq war and it was mainly civilians colounteering to fight saddam, now they are a battle hardned, trained by the best and war ready group which are 11 million in numbers. at time of war each IRGC commander gets control of 25,000 basij members. the iran-iraq war you clearly know nothing about but let me tell you. irans only friend then was syria n no1 els.

@brucebu iran was under international arms embargo along with all the other international sanctions which it had. since tghey had no factories to build their own tanks, missiles, weapons etc etc ment they had very limited supply against Saddam which was heavily backed by USA, UK, GERMANY, FRANCE, RUSSIA, CHINA. saddam was given unlimited/latest weapons and technology including chemical weapons. french pilots even flew missions for them.

@brucebu take all that into concideration saddam did a suprise attack and invaded iran after that brieft attack the ground war began and iraq was smashed left right and centre by just basic weapons. iraq were thrown out of iran and iran invaded iraqi cities. USA and the world offered iran a peace treaty which meant iran would get compensation for allthe damages caused, including iraqs fighter jets and alot of oil etc. today. that is reality.

The chances of hitting a plane that fly at Mach 1+ by a bullet that flies itself at about 1000m/s at any distancse futher than 2km is basically zero. And that is not even when you bring varibles like temp, wind, pressure into the calculation. Missles are much better but you need techology to develop it. I suggest easier to change Irans policies than to rebuilt the country. Just my opion
