what i'm trying to say is that, we've seen this already, it's urban chic, we know that, go crazy, do something different and forget about the market i have a blog and i must say, i never pick lanvin clothes as favorites, they are so perfect that they get stucked in this high chic limbo. where's the fantasy, the point of view, the personality, i prefer a designer with no taste, that keeps making crazy things than these so called high top designers that do clothes thinking of anna wintour bitch...
@MrCFNA I think everyone in the fashion industry knows that retailers have market control. I think Alber Elbaz does a fine job of A. staying true to the Lanvin house, and Jeanne Lanvin's orginal aesthetic and conceptual decisions B. Pulling in his own interests within the brand that he has not only popularized but trademarked in style. The off-one-shoulder, heavily drapped, power dress is something that Lanvin is relied upon for, and yet he keeps it fresh.
@MrCFNA Also, many of those no-taste, personality full, and fantastical designers you speak of operate either through A. loads and loads of private funding, which is rare, B. the same industry you say is full of trash top-designers, C. artistic means, which elevate above the functionality of clothing. Not everyone can be McQueen, Rodarte, or Thierry Mugler. Those people operate in a different realm, but still sell their clothing to the denizens you criticize. Have some humility.
@MrCFNA Also, try stop using horrid buzz phrases like "urban chic", "trashy and chic", and "urban and cool". Those phrases have lost their meaning because of people like you who wear them out. Also, please do not use the words fat or gay to describe drapery, it's irrelevant and offensive.
@mikeofcetacea yeah right, manish arora rocks, mary katrantzou rocks, jonathan saunders rocks, felipe olivera baptista rocks, fatima lopes rocks, mario scwabs rocks, i dont care about new york... i love designers with a point of view... dont care about where the money cames, manish aroras is true to his aesthetic and i dont care if he's sponsored by A or B... the guy from lanvin is one note... that's it, but it suits, but i dont have to like it... i hate lanvin givenchy gabanna marni fendi.
i wanna see trashy and chic, urban and cool, we know he can drap... and change colors, but he's got do something different... we see this dresses in new york... they are all the same, one shoulder dresses... please, it's the market, well i hate these big houses, they're full of shit, they wanna sell to the bitches from hollywood and that's it... keep the fat gay drapping... oh and plus, i hate tom ford also...
@MrCFNA A. Elbaz stands alone, not even T. Ford will be as creative. Lanvin is urban chic, which is what I think you meant to say; It is an evolution of what modern women used to dread wearing. If Elbaz focuses on certain fabrics, it is because they hug a figure better, because those fabrics are meant to allow a woman to feel more comfortable. Elbaz always explains it clearly what a woman expects from Lanvin; timeless pieces, that can be put together easily, and be fashionable for a long time.
i'm sick of this elegant chick urban... it's becoming boring... he's got pull something new... keeps doing these gentle drapie, and it's getting to predictable, we wanna see different things... vreeland once said that too much good taste can be boring, and that's exctly wht i think about albez work right now... it just too much... please break it... do something... go crazy
@medeea207 ... Maybe the colors !!! But Gucci with Tom ford it was too Baggy and He used to show a lot !!!! Elbaz's design it's what i mean femenim ,,, He knew how to keep the lanvin's essence !!!! .... Gucci with Tom it was a real mess !!!!!!
