In 1648 Colchester was in siege and it is thought the cannon was used at the church of St. Marys by the Wall. As you should realise Colchester is fairly flat but hills required an enormous number of men with horses to haul them. Any indecision by the General of whether the cannon should be positioned at the top of this hill or elsewhere should cause criticism from the troops song protesting.

@punniechan those rhymes, in the case of being for children, are not supposed to be interpreted violently. The idea is to concieve "Rock a bye Baby" as sinking into dreamland, "Jack and Jill" as simply getting hurt like everyone sometimes does and "Humpty Dumpty" as an egg falling apart and there being high hopes that he'ss eventually be put back together.

Of course, there origins are way more sophisticated than that, but for young children it's good to put it simply.
