Voice wise Luke is on a different plane to all other irish singers. We will never ever see his like again. I saw him a lot in his early career and I was always amazed at how easily he sang song others would later butcher. Many of the so called great songs by reputed great sonwriters were made great by Luke singing them. He was the talent which made these songs great. He could have sang anything and we would have listened. Even now I am in awe of his talent.

umm hard too say, I like "the sun is burning"

yet "song for ireland" is also exceptional "first song I ever heard sung by luke kelly was "peggy gordon" and that's what made me a luke kelly fan but that's just because it's sung great but ultimately "song for ireland" and "the sun is burning" would be on par with each other in my opinion....
