I would tend to agree with the above posts, because people who choose not to listen to a song that's in a different language and both closed minded and naive to the wide world of music. I on the other hand, love listening to both German and Japanese music, those are my two preferences of music. Rammstein, Megaherz, Oomph!, Eisbrecher are all bands that are underrated just because Americans are lazy and won't even bother to look up lyrics.
Rammstein came much later then many bands like this, whose sound they obviously emulate, but guys like this have been doing it longer (and better in most cases).
It's kinda funny how much controversy one song, one word with multiple meanings. how about you you people shut up and enjoy the song and just agree that there's multiple meanings to the word "schatz"
This is a great song, whether it is about Lord Of The Rings or not, about marriage or not, it does not matter. All that matters is that it is a good song, that it can be taken anyway you want. That is what good songs are about, Nothing Else Matters by Metallica is about James Hetfield loving a girl and missing her while he is on the road but it can be taken any number of ways and that is why these two songs are great. Different meanings means more fans of the song.
just so ya all know..If it wasn't for Oomph, for one, the Neue Deutsche Härte genre would not exist, they inveted it pretty much, second, if it wasn't for Oomph Rammstein might not of existed (cuz of the music genre) or be as popular because Oomph helped them get gigs and such when they were beginning
Well... If you think, that you are SO clever, then you have to know, that Gollum from The Lord of the Rings always says the same phrase: "My treasure", which can be tharslated just the same as "Mein Schatz". And btw, READ the text of the song, may be after that you will see, that the song and my video have A LOT in common.
@PreciousAngelDM101 Doesn't Gollum say "My precious", oh cleverest of all? And yes, that can be "tharslated" just the same as "Mein Schatz". So you're right. And thanks for the vid, seriously.
apparently your grasp of German is pretty tenuous. This song was written about the Ring in the "Lord of the Rings." Hence the reason PreciousAngel chose to show the film clips from the LotR movies.

When Oomph were playing this song in the gig (awesome!!!), Dero was showing his ring so much that it was obvious this song is related to LOTR - it was about the treasured ring.
@PantherReignsSupreme which is how Gollum referred to the ring of power. after reading the full translation I saw the parallels between the song and The Lord of The Rings. you can find them on google.
buena rola .......entiendo un poco porque mi padre habla aleman y me ha enseñado un poco el escucha esta musica.....la verdada me gusta esta musica mas que cualquier otra....VIVA OOMPH!
All I listen to is German music, cuz at least they actually put forth effort into making their music; they're real about it. Unlike half of the crap here in America were peole half-ass the job then just edit it and make it sound pretty. German music at least is worth what you pay for it, live or on CD. I'd rather spend time learning another language so I can listen to something worthwhlie than just listen to shit!
rammstein make music they like they put what they like in their music and they never fallow anything or anyone, but everyone is a critic and a heter so i'll let you guys do your job and hate
@NNK1574 kerlchen wir brauchen keinen der an anderen kritelt, ach übrigens, rammstein wurde von OOMPH inspiriert, Rammstein was inspiratet from OOMPH, OOMPH and Rammstein are friends ;)
actually rammstein said that oomph were the inspiration for them to create the music they make so oomph is really the father of german metal/hardrock/industrial
You are a fucking idiot if you think Rammstein is even remotely INFLUENTIAL in German industrial. They are basically laughed at all over Europe. Cheesy wanna-be Americanized German pop-metal is what they are.
Oomph! is the most creative, underrated band in the world. I mean I can see where some people who don't speak German might be hesitant, but these days it's SO easy to just look up the lyrics, that to not listen to a band because it's in another language, EVEN THOUGH it sounds amazing, is just stupid and lazy.
I agree with you about Oomph! being underrated. Since my two favourite bands (them and Rammstein) are German, people immediately assume I'm a total social outcast for listening to music that ISN'T in English, and that really bugs me. German is quite possibly the most awesome language in the world, and just because people don't understand it they're prejudiced against it. They spend half their time on the internet anyway, so it wouldn't be that hard to find a decent translation. Jeez *rolls eyes*
And to think Benjamin Franklin asked the First Congress of the United States to take a vote on what the official language of the flegling Americas should be and German lost out by only a few Votes. A shame since some of General Washngton's most trusted generals at the end were German/Prussian since he needed them to instill order and discipline among the troops if he were to defeat the British on the battle field.
The thing about German being a national language is actually a myth, from what I have read about that. However, many early americans WERE german speakers. Irregardless, it is rooted in truth if nothing else. German is still spoken as a dialect in some areas. There were a lot of Dutch speakers that settled the Americas too. English itself is a Germanic language, so German or Dutch is not hard to learn. Schönen Tag Noch!
4bubble2hash0 I agree with you completely. They are a really great band and they have songs in english, too. I don't speak german so i can't understand some of their songs, but i still can't stop listening to them. lol
@4bubble2hash0 the nerve look at the last Oomph! records and then tell me who's more "popy";and I really want proof from you that Rammstein is all laughed at;seriously please stop making these idiotic statements;both bands are very good in their own style.I like 'em both equally;thoug thinking Oomph might turn into pop garbage in the end;I still hope for their upcoming record to be rockn':D
Very good video I enjoyed it. I like Rammstein better just because I've known about them longer but I do have to agree that they're alot of bands that can rival rammstein in awesomeness. If germany is famous for anything in my book its good booze, music, and artillery lol 4/5 favorited GJ
that was just downright fucking awesome. i grabbed my guitar, and threw the fuck down.
