If you REALLY need to arena abuse, you can have the unit sit on the throne or a fort to recover a little hp every turn. Besides that there's nothing you can do if you run out of staves

Yes it is a typo, you'll find some more as the game progresses. I think the people who created the translation patch really wanted to get it out there quick, so there are a few typos.
