I think I saw them Halloween '89 in Seattle at a bar in either Belltown, Capitol Hill or the bar downtown by the viaduct that I no longer remember the name of. We hopped to many places that night and I had only been living in Seattle for 6 weeks and didn't know the city yet at all, so I've never been completely sure where I was and if it was indeed MLB I saw that night. Can someone confirm that they actually played that night in Seattle, or not, for me? Thanks.
That was the offramp tavern at the bottom of capitol hill. I used to go there all the time in the early 90s. Great venue. Too bad it's gone. Way better than the Rockcandy was. They always had good bands.
Considering how rare this is, the poor video quality can be forgiven. I was in Seattle in 1989 and sorry to say I missed out on them. They were a flash of wasted genius, but their legacy remains alive in gems like this. Cheers!
I was 8 months and 11 days old when this was filmed. I bet Wood had no idea that babies in the UK would be enjoying this performance 22 years later. If only he'd known. The music in those days was incredible. Thank god the internet was invented - I'm so glad I discovered this band.

I named my first daughter after this song - Chloe - I loved the line "Chloe's just like me, only beautiful." God that still touches my soul. Wherever you are, Chloe, I miss you and I love you, still, all my heart and soul. You're still my little Chloe
@stardogcustoms Hi. Just wanted to share, my wife became pregnant and we too named our daughter Chloe after this song. Sadly, miss Chloe was miscarried, but she did announce the coming of her two future brothers. I was reminiscing to this video, and was struck after reading your comment. Thanks for sharing!
I love this song. I learned how to play every instrument of it. Andrew is buzzing his ass off in this video. He was having trouble remembering the lyrics and some of the piano. But he and the crowd seemed to enjoy it immensely so that's all that matters. RIP to a genius.
I knew Andy since 4th grade. What made him special was torment, love and many questions with doubt. Don't forget about the musicians around him, from Malfunkshun to MLB, he was put in the spotlight and given a chance to shine. We dont know where it would have gone, I know it would have been big, huge...thats what hurts the most. Love you Andy.
the link between hair metal and grunge...as opposed to what the mainstream media has told you, it wasn't a stone cold change...it was simply an evolution

Heroin at it's finest - the worst. these people ever played. Worse than I ever did at my most fucked up. This is a training video. Hellshit aside, I still love every one of these dudes to death (npi) but this shows you how not to be. GOD LOVE ANDREW.
eddie vedder is an elitist asshole who truly believes his is the only opinion that matters, he will mock your marriage and mock your faith in god to your face ! hes got a good voice but after meeting him I dont want to hear it anymore.
Still my absolute favorite song, band, singer. My everything... I would toss out everything else to keep Shine.... LyricLedgend - this song changed me. Even now, after hearing it 1,000's of times the hair on my neck stands up and my heart aches.
God, I love "Chloe Dancer". Andy was so talented, and Mother Love Bone is my favorite band of all time. It's so sad he died. "Chloe Dancer / Crown of Thorns" happens to be my favorite song of all time. (more "Chloe Dancer" though). When I first heard "Chloe Dancer" I was speechless, as if Andy was me writing the song. I relate to it so much in the tragedy of love and having such a beautiful woman laying by my side and then she's not there anymore. It hurts. Chloe Dancer is forever.
unbeliveable that someone had this! andrew wood and all the members of mlb would have been the greatest american band ever! heroin kills, and it killed a great voice/poet here :( but thanks to the other members who went on to do great things also! love battery being the less known of the 2 :) rock on PJ and keep up the playing of this live!
@billyatown91 I agree with the Wood bit but please don't compare Nirvana or MH to Pearl Jam, Eddie and the rest of PJ, (two of them are right here in this vid) are the most talented band around and Eddie is a top song writer, great poet, or at last a musical genius.
@machineheart1 I totallt agree with you!! Andrew wood was a genius but had he not gone Pearl Jam wouldn't be and that would have robbed the earth of arguably the greatest rock band ever......in an age where real philosophers are rare Eddie stands out.....I am sorry but MLB could never have possibly reached the heights of Pearl Jam.......mlb would never have topped chloe dancer/crown of thorns and may have released a few more albums...I loved alot of bands before PJ and since but none more!!
Love this song... the early rise of GRUNGE... its a shame we could of known what Andrew Wood had insort.. awesome song they had and great voice... RIP Andrew wood....
Seattle is a city like no other, such a wealth of talent, yet so many succumb to Heroin, it just breaks your heart, some people are are just shooting stars in this show called life, you will be remembered forever Andrew,
Crazy back then here in seattle, I remember seeing Jeff and stone in the record store, Jerry Cantrell shopped at my QFC in Queen Anne....miss those days. Miss the going to the live shows at the croc and moore.......
Not at all, I still live here, still go see the boys play here and there. Later I ran into stone and Jeff going snowboarding on an Alaska flight from Seatac. I do miss the crocodile cafe, that does make me sad....
I was 23 when this song broke. I thought the Grunge era was the best. I can't believe Andy is dead twenty years now. He left us way back there and every so often it feels good and hurts to look behind.
You made me feel better and I'm sorry to do this to you, I was 17 when this song broke. My wife and I reminisce how new Grunge was in the early 90's and now that music is 20 years old and hardly played on the radio. It's a shame, although I couldn't image myself in flannel this winter!
It's cool dude. My wife was 16 and we lived those years together before we got married in 95. I still wear my flannels though and since the winter sucks here in NY I get the use out of them. They may not play Grunge as much as they used to but my Ipod is full of the old tunes.
@sternumkick hardly played on the radio? well true, ya don't hear the gits, mlb, tad etc. on the radio, but in the 90's ya didn't either. at least outside of seattle anyway. but on modern rock stations of today, i still hear pj, aic, totd, nirvana, & sg numerous times on a daily basis.
Sternum, it's cool. I don't take this all that seriously..... but it's fun to stir the pot once in a while, you probably feel the same. As for the sorry A@@ Mets, that's my team as well. Did you see David Wright's comments during the week? He expects to go deep in the playoffs and the world series? Are you kidding me? We need a 3rd, 4th & 5th starter, 1st baseman, catcher etc. etc. etc. All I can say is Omar MUST GO!
You Probably weren't born 20 years ago..... Wouldn't know good music if it slapped you in the face! The band that spawned Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog and Pearl Jam.... I'm sure they all suck too.... PLEASE do find that bridge!
@kezman1974... Obviously you're a moron, I love all those bands and I love grunge!!! My point is im 20 years older! Dick! You must think I just stumbled upon Mother love bone? STUPID MORON KEZMAN1974
Wow, it just occured to me that the Felix Da Housecat tune Ready 2 Wear is ripped from Chloe Dancer.
