thats also not right. There game was pressed or burned on cd. You can`t just run psx.exe files without debugging/developer psx consoles or an emulator. There are videos showing the game running on a slim PSone with LCD screen attached. If it would be no image/cd that would be played, it wouldn`t work at all on the psx.

i think they scrapped RE1,5 cause they wanted to make a franchise, so it would be much harder with elza as a character. so they put claire, change all the storyline, cause they wanted to do more RE games (and make more money). i love claire and i love the final version of Re2, but RE1.5 its so much more realistic and cool. it has grenades, zombie monkeys and spidermans, william birkin has a bound with sherry, there is more people alive. I hope one day they put it at sale like an spin off
amen, exactly. They would have had problems with the continuity of the series.. Thinking about that today gives me a real bad feeling, seeing how RE4 and 5 turned out to be...

@TheThroney its cool you can hear william birkin in transformed state calling "sherrry" nice little touch that shouldve been in the game. but i guess wouldnt make sense with the context of what Annette says in the released game
i dont see nothing wrong with this version it looks... alot harder more characters in the plot that dont get killed off right away elza can use all the weapons unlike claire the rpd office looked more like an rpg office not a old muesum from re2 there was alot more gore there was no need for 2 discs more zombies that had different shapes and sizes the use of grenades like in re4 the music is awsoe why they took some of it out is beyond me. but re2 is still awsome
personally i would love to play this if they just finished it. i dont care for the dated graphic as a major issue. these early resident evil games were amazing and this looks more like something i would play than anything ive seen out on the ps3. even if it was a download on the online store or something, it would still please alot of the older fans.
wow it looked good, most of the places shown here werent even in resi 2 - wouldve been nice to see this version released also (along with resi 2) :) simply kick leon out of the cast (and sherry + ada obviously, and with plot changes) then add somebody else, and then we have another resi game set in raccoon! horray! :D

This version looks cool... but i still prefer the final RE2. I like all RE to be honest tho.. altho RE5 has become FAR to action packed. RE4 tried something new but at least it still had Horror and puzzles to it. RE5 was purely a Gun Blazed game. And every RE game has puzzles that's jus traditional but RE5 had none...

it was scrapped in a 80% percent beta stage.. which is already pretty done.. only a few tweaks and the FMV cutscene sequences were missing on the disc..
because she "Elza" the blonde biker girl and student was the first planned female cast,
capcom scrapped her when they decided to scrap the whole prototype of RE2..
Claire was added to the final RE2 because she would have had a connection with Chris Redfield, which would mean that atleast one of the new characters of RE2 had a connection to a character from RE1.. thats why ;)
hehe, what should i do else? i`ve been a fan of the series from the beginning...from 1996, its been 14 years for now ;) still not have enough of it :P
This is too bad. I liked the idea of there being so many people surviving and RPD being sort of a temporary fortress to defend to find an escape. The monsters seemed more brutal and intelligent too... (like zombies climbing stairs and such and there being tons of varieties). I could care less about all of the other gay sequels being spread out on all the islands and stuff... So I kind of wish they kept Elijah instead of Claire instead of some obscure attempt to connect 1 and 2 through Claire
it seems this version is much better in weapons, the grenades are cool!! and this is very gore XD... i don't know why CAPCOM refuse thath game... in my opinion looks much better like the 2 final ¬¬

Damn, if people wern't so greedy and made a ISO of this, so video game history can be shared and preserved. Us loyal Resident Evil and Capcom fans deserve to play this version of the game!
And here i was thinking i was the only person who thought this looked better then RE2. Pity that Capcom canned this version, really... I can honestly say it probebly would've wound up being my favorite, going on what knowlage we have of it alone.
yup, don't forget that zombies would not die in this prototype, they would stand up no matter how much bullets you gave 'em..only method to kill them is to shoot off their heads
the other "lost" enemy is the manspider, the final boss of re 1.5 would have also been different
sorry but your video does not contain any beta footage, it just shows a picture of the game's TGS / e3 demo, a picture of the demo played on TGS, the select stage screen of the RE3 TGS demo and 2 tuned down title calling sounds, that have been played in a wrong playbackrate or something like that.. this is probably created by converting the sounds with the programm PSound. this programm does that kind of errors very often
ah that one, of deepthroatx, yeah i know it, it doesn't show very much, its the only footage from re3 beta that i know of but however, the chances for getting RE 1.5 is higher then getting RE 3 beta.
there is also no real need for re3 beta release, as the game was done as planned, there are no big differences between re3 final and beta, not as big as re2 final and re 1.5
Omg, i have to play this. It's too bad I can't get a copy...lol. I'm suprised Claire would have blonde hair. This version isn't really different from the other ones, maybe just cuz of the storyline. But I bet this game would be pretty cool.
@Mega246 If anything the reboot to the series that Capcom has talked about could very well be an up to date and complete version of this game. but again that could just be an idea that'll never be.
its a pity really i really liked the look of this one.
I really love RE2, but it just didn't have the same atmosphere as this one - it just seems much scarier with just the different color palette (brightly lit beige police department = not scary). I guess this is just how I feel about scrapped REs though, since I have similar feelings for 3.5.
not in my opinion, Claire isn't a real interesting character, she was just put into the series to have fans saying "oh my god, its chris` lil sister"
also consider that most resident evil characters have a really low developed personality..and then nowadays we have "special agent leon" and matrix move bad-ass wesker...
i miss the feeling of "wow this really could happen.." in the RE series, what we now see is hollywood in videogame format...
I think everyone's favorite Resident Evil game (for it's time) was Resident Evil 2. They should remake it, but not like they did with Part One for Gamecube. They added too much new stuff and made me hate it. Just modernize the graphics, add new costumes and weapons, but besides that leave everything else alone. I'm sure it'll still sell big.
capcom gives a fuck about hardcore RE fans, they just milk the RE series and thats the reason why RE 1.5 was cancelled, it would probably have set an end to the RE series, at least to the Umbrella story.. because in 1.5 umbrella was shut down by government and police
don't mean to make it sound like everybody else is not good enough to know the info. Just that there are enough people who are too immature or just don't really know how to handle dealing with a source properly that it would not be wise for that kind of information to be public knowledge. It has proven so far that all it takes to ruin some things are a few bad apples.
This unreleased version seems to have a darker, more dismal atmosphere compared to the original. I feel that a lot of these qualities should have been in the finalized version.
here's some advice for capcom: release this version on PSN/XBL, I can assure you it will sell well, given there are legions of RE fans and general gamers who would love to play this.
I don't think they are consider a stand alone game that wasnt released I believe these are just betas for the real game that's all but I do think they should remake RE2
Elza was awensome.....100 times better than fucking Claire.
And this game - looked WAY better than RE2 we got today. More interesting places, monsters, weapons, greater music. Re 1.5 was AWENSOME. Does anybody knows if Elza's voice ('secret enterance? Sherry wait!') is the same of Claire's from the final RE2?
don`t know, there is not much info given about voice actors of re 1.5 but what i know is, that the damage sounds that you would hear if elza was hurt, were the same as Jill's from RE 1
I've checked the voice of Jill's in RE1, besides I remember it very well. And I think it's not the same. Elza's voice is soft. In my opinion, Jill had a very different way of sound. But I don't know about Claire - her voice could be the same as Elza's. I'll compare Elza's voice with Claire's and check it out.
I wonder if someday Capcom will put Elza in one of the games from RE series. It would be Great.

about her popularity, yes i fully agree with you. i don`t like claire at all, i think it was a stupid idea to bring her in.. they did it just for the effect of "ah look, shes called redfield, that must be Chris`s sister OMG !!!!!"..
They scrapped her because there was no connection to the characters from RE1 - that's idiotic I mean - who cares if Elza WAS connected to anybody - what really matters is that she had her own unique history and scenario. Just look how many players would like to know more about Elza - this just prooves that placing Claire in Re2 was out of sense.
Elza was - and is I think - a self-made heroine 100 times more worth to be a important character in RE than Claire.
Redfield my ass - they shouldn't have done this. It's a damn shame the eye-catching blonde never made it to ANY single title of RE series. EVEN today - after 12 years - players want her to BE.
She might be one of the greatest characters in whole series - maybe even the most famous.
Not to mention Capcom could make a lot of money if they release it. Shame, shame, shame.
other interesting fact is, that in RE 1.5 leon and elza would never have met, they both had their own independent scenarios with both never meeting anywhere anytime... i like that, its better than the forced meeting and the stupid dialogue between claire and leon in final RE2
Players are so desperate to play this that they even said Capcom do not need to finish this game - but to release it as it was - 80% complete. I liked the final version of RE2 untill I saw RE 1.5 - it's fuckin amazing - it looks better than Re2 we got. R.P.D. is much more realistic with this dark blue and all...They should release it as "Re2 Director's Cut" or simply "Re 1.5" They would make more money and we - players - could be much more happier.

Do you know if there's any mod or skin of Elza Walker for RE 1,2 or 3 ? To be honest - there are two things in RE 1.5 that get my full attention - the cool looking blueish R.P.D. and Elza xD I would pay 1.000.000 $ just to play as her for a while :P
oh yes indeed there are mods for re 1-3, elza skins were also made, you can swap the plaers model skin, with hers and actually play her in re1,2 or 3 contact me via message to get more info about this..
Or - if Capcom don't want to release it at all so much - then at least they could and SHOULD place Elza back to RE universe. Can't they see how much attention she has? I mean - all the petitions, players' requests etc. - nothing. Is it really so hard for Capcom to release this game? Can't they see players begging - "We will pay much for it" etc? IT would be a PERFECT occasion for Capcom to earn extra money. And I mean a LOTS of extra money because players want this game badly. And Elza as well.

Especially that among RE players Elza has got a lot of attention as for someone who have never been playable in no single title from the series, and have only been seen through 80% complete so called "Beta" which never made it to release.
and "no one" means, just a handful of people, like private collectors or former capcom employees and both of them will not give it to you for free nor to someone who would release it or share it with other people

There were other interviews where it said 65% finished... and then around 75%. It kept varying within each interview.

i don't want them to change a single thing in re 1.5 if they ever decide to release it..
and if they release it, there is no chance it would come out for a newer console.. they should just give it out as a download on playstation network.
but however this will not happen, even if this game is lost for 13 years by now....

damn why did they remove the apes? They're like the most basic experimental animals.
Also I hope everyone can notice the superior AI and extra attacks the enemies have and didn't have in the original RE2.

yup, don't forget that zombies would not die in this prototype, they would stand up no matter how much bullets you gave 'em..only method to kill them is to shoot off their heads
the other "lost" enemy is the manspider, the final boss of re 1.5 would have also been different

sorry but your video does not contain any beta footage, it just shows a picture of the game's TGS / e3 demo, a picture of the demo played on TGS, the select stage screen of the RE3 TGS demo and 2 tuned down title calling sounds, that have been played in a wrong playbackrate or something like that.. this is probably created by converting the sounds with the programm PSound. this programm does that kind of errors very often

ah that one, of deepthroatx, yeah i know it, it doesn't show very much, its the only footage from re3 beta that i know of but however, the chances for getting RE 1.5 is higher then getting RE 3 beta.
there is also no real need for re3 beta release, as the game was done as planned, there are no big differences between re3 final and beta, not as big as re2 final and re 1.5

I really love RE2, but it just didn't have the same atmosphere as this one - it just seems much scarier with just the different color palette (brightly lit beige police department = not scary). I guess this is just how I feel about scrapped REs though, since I have similar feelings for 3.5.

not in my opinion, Claire isn't a real interesting character, she was just put into the series to have fans saying "oh my god, its chris` lil sister"
also consider that most resident evil characters have a really low developed personality..and then nowadays we have "special agent leon" and matrix move bad-ass wesker...
i miss the feeling of "wow this really could happen.." in the RE series, what we now see is hollywood in videogame format...

I think everyone's favorite Resident Evil game (for it's time) was Resident Evil 2. They should remake it, but not like they did with Part One for Gamecube. They added too much new stuff and made me hate it. Just modernize the graphics, add new costumes and weapons, but besides that leave everything else alone. I'm sure it'll still sell big.

capcom gives a fuck about hardcore RE fans, they just milk the RE series and thats the reason why RE 1.5 was cancelled, it would probably have set an end to the RE series, at least to the Umbrella story.. because in 1.5 umbrella was shut down by government and police

don't mean to make it sound like everybody else is not good enough to know the info. Just that there are enough people who are too immature or just don't really know how to handle dealing with a source properly that it would not be wise for that kind of information to be public knowledge. It has proven so far that all it takes to ruin some things are a few bad apples.

This unreleased version seems to have a darker, more dismal atmosphere compared to the original. I feel that a lot of these qualities should have been in the finalized version.

Elza was awensome.....100 times better than fucking Claire.
And this game - looked WAY better than RE2 we got today. More interesting places, monsters, weapons, greater music. Re 1.5 was AWENSOME. Does anybody knows if Elza's voice ('secret enterance? Sherry wait!') is the same of Claire's from the final RE2?

don`t know, there is not much info given about voice actors of re 1.5 but what i know is, that the damage sounds that you would hear if elza was hurt, were the same as Jill's from RE 1

I've checked the voice of Jill's in RE1, besides I remember it very well. And I think it's not the same. Elza's voice is soft. In my opinion, Jill had a very different way of sound. But I don't know about Claire - her voice could be the same as Elza's. I'll compare Elza's voice with Claire's and check it out.
I wonder if someday Capcom will put Elza in one of the games from RE series. It would be Great.

They scrapped her because there was no connection to the characters from RE1 - that's idiotic I mean - who cares if Elza WAS connected to anybody - what really matters is that she had her own unique history and scenario. Just look how many players would like to know more about Elza - this just prooves that placing Claire in Re2 was out of sense.

Elza was - and is I think - a self-made heroine 100 times more worth to be a important character in RE than Claire.
Redfield my ass - they shouldn't have done this. It's a damn shame the eye-catching blonde never made it to ANY single title of RE series. EVEN today - after 12 years - players want her to BE.
She might be one of the greatest characters in whole series - maybe even the most famous.
Not to mention Capcom could make a lot of money if they release it. Shame, shame, shame.

other interesting fact is, that in RE 1.5 leon and elza would never have met, they both had their own independent scenarios with both never meeting anywhere anytime... i like that, its better than the forced meeting and the stupid dialogue between claire and leon in final RE2

Players are so desperate to play this that they even said Capcom do not need to finish this game - but to release it as it was - 80% complete. I liked the final version of RE2 untill I saw RE 1.5 - it's fuckin amazing - it looks better than Re2 we got. R.P.D. is much more realistic with this dark blue and all...They should release it as "Re2 Director's Cut" or simply "Re 1.5" They would make more money and we - players - could be much more happier.

I'm afraid to think WHAT's this game gonna look like if they decide to finish it..... I don't like Re4 because I never liked Leon, plus the storyline is cheap - a cop doing massacre in some village to save daughter of a president....is this a joke? It's not in RE style. I haven't played Re5 yet - waiting for PC release. The new RE games are out of style and good old climate. If Capcom want easy money - they should release RE 1.5 - this could give him A LOT of cash. But I liked OLD Wesker :P

Or - if Capcom don't want to release it at all so much - then at least they could and SHOULD place Elza back to RE universe. Can't they see how much attention she has? I mean - all the petitions, players' requests etc. - nothing. Is it really so hard for Capcom to release this game? Can't they see players begging - "We will pay much for it" etc? IT would be a PERFECT occasion for Capcom to earn extra money. And I mean a LOTS of extra money because players want this game badly. And Elza as well.
