I married a cop. If the story is made up, it is made up only this time. It happens all the time. My wife would come home, get out of uniform, sit down and cry for the first time that day. And there were a LOT of days like that. A LOT. When they would ask the parent why (when they would admit it), they would invariably say "no reason," they just had a "bad" day and lashed out.
