Just so everyone knows: Ken Buck refers to rape as "buyer's remorse". In 2005 he refused to prosecute a rape case because he sided with the rapist who himself explicitly admitted that what he had done was in fact rape.
@EmpressJudge13 Lying is not becoming for you. The case was one where the woman says she invited her ex-boyfriend into her apartment and says she then invited him into her bed, and was suing him for then sleeping with her. He saw the case was not winnable and that if the case went through her character would be maligned publicly.
You're simply arguing against every lawyer who considered this case and are arguing in favor of this woman's character being publicly maligned. What a saint.
@Unhindered (Part 1) Calling me a liar is not becoming to you. I understand that her character would have been called into question and even that her sexual history would be used against her. I also know that Ken Buck himself jumped on the victim-blaming bandwagon. There was nothing in the transcript to suggest that he was merely telling her what would happen in court, but plenty which suggests that he more or less agreed with his own assessment of the situation.
@Unhindered (Part 2) And the idea that her inviting him into her apartment, then her bed somehow makes the sex consensual shows Buck's fundamental misunderstanding of consent: It is CAN be withdrawn if one partner decides that they don't want to have sex. Failure to acknowledge this withdrawal of consent makes this rape just as not giving consent in the first place would make it rape.
@EmpressJudge13 - Unfortunately not every wrong will be justified in court. I've heard a number of lawyers from various political perspectives talk about this case and say that they wouldn't have pursued it either. Buck never said that rape is ok, has he? I'd be interested to see when he said that, which is your point.
Pointing out someone else's lie is ok, if in fact they're lying. You are lying. I recognize it's not helpful to your argument for someone to shine truth on it and say what it is
@Unhindered Unwinnable, unwinnable, unwinnable! Does no one remember that the guy who raped her explicitly confessed that what he had done was rape? How the fuck is is possible not to win a rape case in which the rapist identifies himself as such? THAT I don't understand.
@EmpressJudge13 I get that you don't understand. That's clear. Most of us don't understand the ins and outs of the court system. My understanding is that Buck thought it SHOULD be prosecuted but that a jury WOULDN'T prosecute. I've heard liberal lawyers say they wouldn't have taken the case either for the same reason.
There are things that lawyers understand from practicing law that you and I don't. But why go around slandering him about something you don't understand?
@Unhindered You're the one who doesn't understand: I GET that the case would've been a bitch to try and prosecute. But from reading the transcript, it's very clear that this isn't the only reason Buck didn't try. He states that IN HIS OPINION (as in, not JUST what the judge and jury would have thought) the "appearance of consent" was enough to render the rape charge void. The bastard even goes so far as to imply that the victim was trying to get back at the guy for getting her pregnant.
@EmpressJudge13 sorry, there I go assuming you are telling the truth again, only to have you tell me you were lying. I thought when you wrote "I don't understand." you were being honest.
As it's impossible to have a worthwhile discussion with someone who freely lies and/or contradicts themselves, I'll be on my way.
(Part 2) - you say Buck fundamentally misunderstands "consent" - really? Did he argue that? No, it's just another lie you're repeating. I'd be interested to see your source for where he talks about consent.
The point was that the case was not winnable, the point was not about the crime committed. It's interesting you cannot understand the difference.
Go KEN Buck....The BUCK in Washington stops here. He will help stop the Bad spending. Visit my channel and see what other awesome things you can learn and look forward to. LOVE YA ALL..."Its all about Jesus"
Republican communists who want our jobs in communist china want to give rich corps in china tax cuts and wont tell us where the millions are coming from for your TV spots why cant you tell the truth why are you so afraid to tell us we know it comes from those making bombs against us right? tell us then or you just are dumb communists buying your way into the white house truth truth truth let the truth be told truth is all we want!!!!
@videobookoftruth who foolishly called the party in favor of less government "communist."
- The Right wants a smaller government. How foolish must you be to say they are communists who believe that bigger government is the solution to every problem and that government is the cure to all social ills? You're inviting a realization that the Democrat party is being led by Leftists who agree with these fundamentals of communism.
Barack is the one now selling debt to China, not Buck.
