  • I've been to New Orleans twice in my lifetime, the two things that have eluded me are going to a Saints home game and riding the streetcars, everytime I tried to get on one, they'd be packed, asses and elbows, I just gave up on the notion, both trips however, were before the tragedy of the double hurricane affair.

  • @BisonAP Go back now, it's not as bad. There are enough people for New Orleans to have life, but it's not ridiculously crowded like before.

  • Thanks Sooooo Much for the post. I lived on St. Charles for a decade (now in NYC), and God! I miss the sound and the sight of those Streetcars. Will move back home someday.

  • Not much has changed I operate a Streetcar 966 from New Orleans at Lowell National Park in partnership with Seashore Trolley Museum!! Very Nice Video!!!

  • @BandM4266

I specifically went to Lowell to ride the

    966. I called way in advance and was told that it would operate on Friday, Sat and Sun. So I planned my trip to arrive Thursday, ride Friday and leave Saturday.

Got there, and was told not on weekdays but it would be running on weekend. Extended my stay a day to ride but it never came out on Saturday either. When visiting Seashore and complained, their attitude was "so what?" What kind of a schedule do you guys keep up there?

  • Very nice vid for streetcar fans. Rode her 21 yrs. ago!

  • DC motors, thumping compressors, tungsten light bulbs inside...brilliant.

  • New Orleans 4 life!

  • this is an old video right after katrina.canal street is back with soo many people now,we still have long way to go.but we gettin' there.

  • i catches the street car every dy from the french quarter to go to work on canal street

  • It's amazing - I was in N.O. the weekend before Katrina hit and those streets were packed with people. Now its empty. Sad.

  • Where are the people, the cars. The place looks so deserted. Is New Orleans back on its feet. I plan to visit again

  • I heard New Orleans lost over a million people of its population that never moved back after Katrina.

I did go down Bourbon St and the Jackson Square area and had fun but did notice the lack of people.

  • this is old,new orleans is getting it's people back, slowly but surely.i was on canal street a few weeks ago,and man it looks like they are more people flockin' back since this video,we makin' it though!

  • The St. Charles streetcar has not resumed it's full route yet. It expands down St. Charles this weekend. Because the route currently only goes down Canal Street the streetcars are virtually empty. In terms of touristy spots, the city is back on its feet. Visiting is the best thing you can do since it will put money into the rest of the city.

  • Where are the people, the cars. Look so deserted.

  • Pleasant enough - but these last two don't tell me anything new about New Orleans, Hutch.
