The new assault course contains: a tree climb, a slide for life, an over/under, a wall climb, steps that lead to a puddle, a rope swing, a run through water, a leap from platform to platform ("illusion jump"), a wall to roll under, a balance beam, a hurdle, and a cargo crawl before running to the finish. Not exactly a military assault course, more like one you would find at a summer camp. There's an adventure course like that in Alley Pond Park in Queens, New York.
It means that the puzzle has some sort of interaction with with the contestant such as moving or lighting up, rather than just assembling bits of plastic into a shape or whatever. Take a look at the old tests from the 1988 series, such as the water test, the working grandfather clock and the illuminating blackpool tower in the 1988 Grand Final.
Hope this has been helpful. Also ask Krypton87 as it was me and him that came up with the term 'active' Intelligence test.
So it only determined the runner-up. By the way, since Jonathan and Leo both had 30, how did they determine the highest-scoring runner-up? Did they go to the highest score after each round in reverse order?
Actually, there is an argument that Leo should have been the highest-scoring runner-up instead of Johnathan because both won two rounds (Johnathan won Mental Agility and Intelligence, Leo won Observation and General Knowledge), and both received two second-places (PA and GK for Jonathan, MA and Intelligence for Leo), however Leo got third in his other round and Johnathan got fourth. I take it they didn't count places in General Knowledge, even though they did in the original series.
women get a 45 second head start are you fucking kidding me? what if i was racing against kelly homes :/ she'd be done in 45 seconds

@dim432 I love the round Response where you ride a flight simulator. And Intelligence is on this video

It seems that only two at a time is a little problem.

I LOVE the new 'active' Intelligence test rounds!

What makes it "active," if I may ask?

So to whom should I address my concern over the handicap controversy?
TonyDuMont 3 years ago
I still say they didn't need to give the women a handicap, since it doesn't seem to make too much of a difference.
TonyDuMont 3 years ago
If you take the handicap away:
Heat 1 - Naomi still last
Heat 2 - Sarah third instead of second
Heat 3 - Jackie still last
Heat 4 - Tamara third instead of second
Heat 5 - Josie still last
Heat 6 - Jen third instead of second
Heat 7 - Tanya still last
Semi-final 1 - Josie still last
Chorleypie 2 years ago
So it wouldn't make much of a difference in 5 out of 8 cases. But what about the other three? How would scoring be affected?
Maybe they should design an obstacle course that doesn't favor sex, height, or build.
TonyDuMont 2 years ago
Heat 2 - Sarah still last, Ronald still wins.
Heat 4 - Tamara still third, Richard still wins BUT Leo now has 32 and gets to the semi-final as highest scoring runner-up.
Heat 6 - Jen still second, Ian still wins.

TonyDuMont 2 years ago
Jonathan edged it over Leo and Ian Strang because he'd won two rounds. A bit harsh on Leo who got nine in Mental Agility only for Richard to get ten.

So whoever wins more rounds wins the tiebreaker. By the way, what about my idea for a Physical Ability test that doesn't favor biological factors?
