The song was composed by Allan Holdsworth in 1975 with name "Kinder" for the "Velvet Darkness" Album, the first solo album from Holdsworth and then some things were changed in the song and was renamed for "Fred" in the Tony Williams New Lifetime album "Believe It" in 1975.
@chicowillcox Yes. 'Kinder' from 'Velvet Darkness' is a solo guitar version, and is a very beautiful and mellow rendition. A contrast to the up-tempo and rockin' 'Fred'. Both versions are great.
Your version of 'Fred' here is great also, and really does justice to the 'famous' version. Thanx for posting!
i just got finished commenting on a band that was playing a lifetime song to impress people and how pretentious it sounded as opposed 2 bands playing a song cause they're feeling it. you guy's are not only feeling it you're st8 killin it! i am so jealous. man this version is sick!!!
This is absolutely great!! Compliments! I saw Allan in The Hague (Holland)with Allan Pasqua but you really do a more than fantastic job! Hope to hear more from you Erik.
Good god, this is a good song. And you are very brave for taking it on, and well done for keeping it great! You should let the guy above me play guitar for you though, that song misses that real searing guitar tone.
WOOOOw, "CLAP2S!"
