@mrcoolguyify Actually, as far as I can tell, the earliest origins of "woot woot" I can recall can go back to Gladys Knight & The Pips "Midnight Train To Georgia". Possibly? And the last one I've ever heard was Beastie Boys' "Hey Ladies" in 1989. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Another great post, my man!!! This extended disco version has long been one of my favorites. BTW, I've never seen another 12" of this single featuring the original 45/LP version. I've never seen a white label promo of the Billy Ocean single. I actually have a stock copy that came in a jacket with a gold promo stamp on the back. Not sure if CBS ever pressed any white label promo copies of that 12".
Very nice Slay'd!! I have this 12" myself and I've been on the hunt for a possible promo 12" containing the LP/single version but so far no luck..I'm doubting one even exists at this point.
@vinyl12s I was gonna ask you and Jeff about that awhile back. I've never seen a promo copy of this 12" either. I have the second issue with the black label and the plain blue label repress from the the late 80s. I've given up on finding one. Speaking of elusive promos, I've also never seen a US promo 12" for Billy Ocean's "Night(s) Feel Like Getting Down", have you ever come across that one?
@Slayd5K I hav'nt come across that one. The only ones I've seen is his Jive Records releases. I have the 12" promo for "Loverboy" and his other records on stock 12" singles.

is this song where "woot woot!" came from originally? you know, inspired by the 'ooo ooo' lyric?
mrcoolguyify 5 months ago
@mrcoolguyify I don't think it started with this, but this song definitely established it.
