This movie and Scarface romanticized the durg trade, when in fact it was just the opposite of reality. DW did a good job portraying Lucas, but his best performance by far was in Training Day.

@southport97 I honestly don't think American Gangster tried to romanticize the drug trade, they show the effects of drugs on the community (mothers strung out with their children crying etc.) I honestly think that Denzel Washington's portrayal was so charismatic that audiences just cheered him on even when they weren't supposed to. Excellent movie, though, almost Shakespearen.

i have this movie on DVD. I have the 2 disc unrated edition. I watched so many times that the disc developed a glitch or something like a glitch or just messed up. When i play the theaterical version the disc stops playing it just pauses in this scene and it stays likes this forever. I bet blu ray version of this movie the disc is more reliable. Is this a common problem with DVDs that have two versions of a film?
