To do "harm" implies that what we have done creates a negative ripple. How can we possibly predict a negative ripple any further than the immediate? The clearing of the Amazon is of course immediately negative for the ecosystem, but if in its place is put a research center to develop medicines from Amazon flora, is that not a positive ripple? Thus good comes out of short-term "harm." What are your thoughts?
