Cool video and awesome to see these two legends on the same stage. Sad thing is, most people there probably didn't even know who Shawn Lane was. They probably thought he was just some fat dude who was a friend of the band, never knowing the guitar genius in their midst.
@carini7487 Yes.... go to the 'shawnlane dot co dot uk' website that me and a friend created, join up (for free) and go the the "Live shows" section where i've uploaded around 50 full audio Shawn shows (plus a few dvd's i have edited/re-authored), this is one of them. Hope that helps! :)
I would give anything to see just a 2 minute jam with Buckethead and Shawn Lane trading solos. I think the reason it never happened is because, if it did, the fabric of space-time would unravel and the universe would implode in on itself.
the 2 greatest guitarists of all time imo. shawn lane is amazingly melodic, has "blazing amazing phrasing", and is unsurpassed in technical talent, and buckethead is extremely creative, ridiculously versatile, and a master of songwriting. 42 solo albums (if you include insearchofthe) and counting. these 2 guitarists are truly in a league of their own. R.I.P. shawn lane and long live buckethead!!!
it's so awesome that in the only video footage of lane and buckethead together, buckethead is so stoked on lane he gives him his bucket! Talk about an honor
I cant get enough of this vid i love seeing them on stage togeather. i know....(well i heard paul gilbert taught buckethead how to play) did shawn have a hand in teaching buckethead head how to play or did shawns music inspire bucketheads style? just curious i'm a fan of both and was wondering what the connection was to the two of them?
Buckethead took lessons from gilbert for about one year when he was (21?) and gilbert was like (24?). It was more of a mutual lesson, they both learned a lot from each other. As far as I know, Buckethead knew shawn lane well, but he never took lessons from him. Much of Buckethead's music was and is inspired by tapes he received of shawn lane, and it really shows on the praxis albums. Buckethead was also highly influenced by Pebber Brown.
