  • this women were real women compared to the actres of today .

  • Vivian suffered her depression probably because she knew she committed adultery, left her husband and only child for Larry O., lived with him, had sex every day, finally they both got married, she lost lots of babies, she tried so hard though, and as the time went on, Larry got tired of her, when she needed him the most.

  • That woman who imitates Vivian Leigh is NOTHING like the real Vivian and should never have been included in this documentary.

  • @malows1234 How dare you call actors that. Who the hell do you think your watchin when your jerkin off you b#####. People are so ignorent these days!!!

  • @joseph11291 Thank you for your comment to the bitch @malows1234. It's believable how ignorant and judgmental the populace is.

  • She was one of the best actresses in history. Her amazing leading roles in the movies like Gone with the wind or Streetcar called desire made her unforgettable and deathless. She led a tempestuous life and managed to express all emotions as an actress. Unfortnatelly she suffered from tuberculosis of the lungs and if I know there wasn't any effective drugs to fight it off then. She paid the highest price, but she still lives in our minds amd I think we abided the heiress of Viv: Keira Knightley

  • CAN U SAY HOME WRECKER....THUMBS UP BY ME

  • Very revealing documentary of a brilliant, troubled star.

  • Sad that she was such an unfeeling mother.

She just strikes me as somebody being very lively on the surface, but quite shallow and cold underneath.

  • The change in culture did have an effect on her memory, her mind was always restless to the end..

  • what a coincidence that i happened to watch this on what would have been her 98th birthday!

  • @NightinGal89 She worked very hard to get where she got. Yes, she was very pretty. But I also think her hard work and her great talent had a hand in it as well.

  • This is a surprisingly mean spirited video comment-wise.

  • She is just incredible! I wish she was still alive so she could teach actresses today a thing or two about class.

  • She had talent and was a beauty.. What kind of mental illness did she have?

  • @SandyInOhio1000 she was bi polar back then they didnt have good drugs like we do now to treat it, they used very severe and painful electroshock treatments

  • @SandyInOhio1000 Manic Depression which is Bipolar Disorder now a days.

  • Terrible how they talk of the dead! I think she was one of the best actresses ever. Look at all the manic embarrassments called "actresses" that we have today. They can't even act and most are drug addicts.... horrible role models of today.

  • @ApricotsMariska

I couldn't have said it better!

  • @ApricotsMariska Don't mistake so-called celebrities, etc, for "actresses". Yes, there are too many wannabes who don't understand acting is a profession like any other. :)

  • @ApricotsMariska who gives a shit, actors are just people who aren't smart enough to be directors or writers, so they have to end up kissing fucking stripping on screen. i dont know why else someone with so-called talent would choose to work on a set where they are not the director. if i was truly talented i would want to be boss on set (i.e. director)

  • @ApricotsMariska Vile American woman! What does she know anything about Vivienne Leigh?

  • @Thesaeed23 I'm not a vile "american" woman you twat! I'm not from the USA. You playing at guessing games here? What exactly is your problem with my comment you thick repulsive asshole! You know NOTHING about Vivienne Leigh you bitch!

  • @ApricotsMariska I am sorry. Please see my comment below or on the screen of the documentary. I used the word vile because people are so ignorant and judgemental about mental ill health. I was brought up never to speak ill about the dead or people who have ill health. Why can't we just say she was a great actress? Period. Yes she had periods of ill health and her life was cut short. But judge her as an actress and not on her personal life.

  • @Thesaeed23 With all that said you filthy thick twat, I happen to live in LINCOLNSHIRE ENGLAND! So bring it on you ignorant cow! You seemingly have problems with Americans, so why don't you elaborate for those who are eh? Vile council house, benefit cheque collecting inbreed!

  • @ApricotsMariska Oh, by the way - the greatest love of my life is American. They would have found my comment's flippant and funny and would agree that Vivienne was Old England. She was Unique - she could never be emulated and understood by anyone. Not today. Only she knows what took its toll on her. Let her acting and her beauty - speak for her now. Not her ill health!

  • @Thesaeed23 BTW, when I was speaking of "drug addicts and alcoholics", I was speaking of TODAY'S "entertainers" who have no talent, none can compare to her. I did not ever accuse Vivienne of being a drug addict or alcoholic. Show me the comment where I did so if you're under the impression that I did so. I was sticking up for her. As far as Americans go, no... I do not believe they would take kindly to you calling them "vile". I found it offensive as I have dear friends in the US.

  • @ApricotsMariska For me Vivienne Leigh is sacred. Despite her ill health. She is The Greatest, Most beautiful, Actress and Movie Star - Ever! She was Pure Class.

  • @Thesaeed23 Oh dear! I really am truely sorry! I should have not said that. I think I am just more empathic to people who have suffered from mental ill health. There is alot of sexism towards women who are judged as hysterical, oversexed, fragile and cruel towards others. This documentary implies that these were Vivienne's faults too. I am a feminist. Why can't we just say she suffered from periods of ill health, tuberculosis and bi polar disorder. It was tuberculosis which killed her!

  • @BiosAndDocumentaries Streep, Miren, and Dench arent young actresses, there are some good actresses these days but a lot of them are really bad and also insanely popular ie: miley cyrus, kristen stewart, jennifer lopez, angelina jolie, lindsay lohan, hillary duff, scarlett johansen, elisha cuthbert, hallie berry, all bad actresses, beautiful and popular women yes but their performances are less than is desired. i could go on with the list but I wont. most of the true talent these days are

  • @Danni3lilbirds much lesser known, obscure performers because of this tabloid frenzy culture we have going on. just sayin.

  • she seemed to be much like her famous character, Scarlett.

  • thumbs up if gone with the win is your favorite movie :)

  • @msgales1 Favorite classic movie ever! If I had to pick a Vivien Leigh movie I would have to say Waterloo Bridge. GWTW all time favorite!

  • yes, she was not like the hollywood white trash of today for sure. she was a breed apart.

  • typically strange cold natured englishwoman 'had a baby'.

  • @Eurafrican Lol. Go easy. Mary Poppins was an English woman! Not all of us Brits are cold natured you know ;)

  • @lapetiteombre thanx for taking it in good humour... didn't mean to be offensive, but having grown up in england i can only say that my description applies to the majority other than the minority which probably includes you.

  • @Eurafrican No offense taken. I actually know exactly what you're talking about. To this day, if I try to hug my aunt, she remains with her arms stiff at her sides, lol.

  • @Eurafrican

It depends on what you define as "cold natured". If you mean they don't engage in alot of public hugging and kissing then YES, you might call some of them cold. BUT I lived there for about a year and I can tell you for a fact they are by and large some of the most warm, caring, funny, gentle and LOVING folks you will find anywhere. I'm American and I found the English alot more warm, caring, funny and just plain NICE than most of the folks I meet here in California.

  • @Babyhowdy233 yeah modern multicultural britain doesn't match with the britain of vivien's generation which iwas referring to. i know what u mean i currently live in england, but i find the older generation in particular tend to be reserved & detached. that 'stiff upper lip' stuff which often covered a lot of pain...

  • @Eurafrican

I'm SPEAKING OF the generation of Vivien Leigh, as the council house I lived in was in a neighbourhood made up predominantly of folks in their 70s and 80s. To be quite frank, I actually liked the older generation of British folk better than the younger generations;they were wonderful. :D

  • Wouldnt it have been wild if Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh real son and daughter were the same age and ended up married and had children?

  • @NFitalianGuy Yummy.

  • She sounds a lot like Scarlett!

  • @gingercady007 She played Scarlett!!

  • Call me crazy, I don't find her that pretty

  • @sarabower1 really?! to each their own I guess :) I think she is devastatingly gorgeous.

  • @sarabower1 yea, ur crazy!

  • Vivian had it all--beauty, talent--but her mental illness almost destroyed her. There was no treament for it then. But she kept going. She was very brave.

  • @windstorm1000

    It did destroy her

  • one of the best and most beautiful actresses of all time.FACT <3

  • @BiosAndDocumentaries ...First of all its always nice to see an internet crybaby, secondly just because I referred to the modern Hollywood actress as being overpaid trash does not mean I was referring to actresses like Dench, Streep and Helen Mirren who again do not belong in this era, even though they are still active. I was actually referring to the current young so called ''talent'' in Hollywood today, maybe I should have made that clearer as to not ruin your life with the statement I made

  • @Dungarth Well said "BiosAndDocumetaries" you make a bold sweeping statement, call an entire era of actresses "trash" and then insult a person for responding, you are very rude, and ignorant.

  • FULL EPISODES TV[.]USNETXXX[.]COM

  • My name is Vivian. Although not spelled the same, I'm VERY proud to have the same name as the most beautiful actress ever :)

  • @speaktheworld I believe she was actually christened Vivian, although her agent encouraged her to change the spelling at the beginning of her career.

  • @ecureuil85 Vivian is actually the masculine form. Vivien is the feminine.

  • @BabeonToast I'm aware of that, but according to the biography of her life I read, she was christened Vivian and changed it later.

  • @speaktheworld Lucky I would love to have that name:)

  • That woman Marcy is nowhere near convincing in her portrayal of Vivien. Her voice and general demeanor are ridiculously off. Don't even get me started on the looks aspect, and the fact that the woman cannot act. Disgrace. Not sure they could find an actress who would convincingly portray Vivien, though.

  • @meggwtw Totally agree. Vivien had a decorous demeanor NOT a loud and flamboyant one.

  • Comment removed

  • The actress who portrays this gorgeous classic actress is not even close.

So affected and that where did that deep voice come from?

  • Thanks for uploading this

  • Oh, she was beautiful!

  • Lips red as blood, skin white as snow, hair black as ebony...

Vivien Leigh looks exactly like the fairy tale character Snow White! *__*

  • This is so creepy! my friend just told me I look a splitting image of viven leigh, and then she showed me a picture! its scary cuz i also have bipolar and am a perfomer (singer, but like all perfomers am a natural actress too)! my family are of english background - i wonder if we are related? im very curious now! and to hear she is considered one of the most beautiful woman of all time - i am flattered to be compared to her!!

  • @haylosupastar If you posess just a small fraction of Vivien Leigh's beauty, I'd love to meet you!

  • I'm doing a speech on Vivien Leigh in my speech class. So excited!

  • The most beautiful woman ever... i love her <o

  • She was so interesting to watch, and not just because she was gorgeous, but because she was so believable in playing her roles.

  • bloody horrible woman playing VL - she should go back to school and find something she's better suited to be doing.

  • That heavy-faced woman with the huge teeth, enormous nose and deep voice playing Vivien Leigh is a total insult to the memory of Leigh. Does she REALLY think she looks and sounds like Leigh? If she does, someone should tell her that Leigh was delicate, stunningly beautiful, and very graceful. The woman portraying her is none of those things and would be better portraying Eleanor Roosevelt - NOT Vivien Leigh!

  • @Catamaran88 Damn, she isn't that bad! I was expecting her to look way worse with how you people keep going on and on abou how ugly she looks! She looks fine to me! Not as beautiful as Vivien obviously, but she is definitely not ugly!

  • As an actress, she was limited. Yet, her performance in the film version of "A Street Car Named Desire" is one of the best ever recorded.

  • The public demanded that Clark Gable play Rhett Butler. When Vivien Leigh was cast as Scarlett, everyone was shocked. How could an Englishwoman play a Southern Bell? She was so good in the part, noone could imagine anyone else in the role.

  • GREAT DOCUMENTARY... ABOUT THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND TALENTED ACTRESS EVER!

  • GREAT DOCUMENTARY... ABOUT THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND TALENTED ACTRESS EVER!

  • i she was involved with woman sexually... wow... those are some lucky bitches! viv was/is the best actress of all time if you ask me!

  • while in hollywood in the 30's/40's,she also was a freak for sex with women and male prostitutes....

    allegedly .....

  • Saw The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone this morning on TCM. That was a good movie. I can't wait for the Sep. issue of Now Playing Guide to get here. It's Vivien Leigh month!

  • I just watched Streetcar, she was so beautiful even then,I will forvever love her,to bad in those days they did not have the knowledge and meds to deal with her mental illness or bi-polar as we know now.She is one of my fav actresses besides Bette Davis.

  • I wouldn't go to that play Marcy Lafferty is in. Over acting, to the extreme. Horrible.

  • I AM A 51 YR-OLD AFRICAN AMERICAN FEMALE WHO LOOOOOOOOOVES!!!! "GONE W/ THE WIND". MY AA FRIENDS ASK ME WHY I LOVE THIS "RACIST" MOVIE SO MUCH. MY RESPONSE TO THEM IS THAT GWTW HAS MUCH TO DO ABOUT THE WAY IT WAS, BUT, IT WAS A LOVE STORY, AND THE EPITOME OF A STRONG, CONFIDENT AND SELF-ASSURED WOMAN WHO MADE HERSELF EQUAL (AS POSSIBLE) TO MEN. MAMMY PLAYD HER ROLE MOST EXCELLENT. I LOVD RHETT AS WELL, HE WAS EVERY WOMANS DREAM. ASHLEY WAS EVERY WOMANS NIGHTMARE-WEAK. MAMMY-JUST EXCELLENT

  • This Marcy is terrible.

  • I think Vivien's early childhood actually created her illness. What a terirble thing to do to a child...sending her to another country...separating her from everything she knew, including her parents.

  • @gmaureen In those days it was considered a normal thing to do for parents living 'in the colonies'. Author Rudyard Kipling was so traumatized by this, he later wrote a very bitter short story about it.

  • @spiderorchid81I have always loved Rudyard Kipling's books, but know nothing about his upbringing. I'll see if I can find a biography/autobiography on him. Thanks.

P.S. It may have been a common thing, sending the children away, but I can't imagine doing such a thing. As a mother, I'm far too protective.

  • @gmaureen You're welcome! ^_^ The story is called "Baa, Baa Black Sheep".

I couldn't do something like that too. It can't be good for a child to be send away.

  • 4:03- she looks very similar to the Queen at that age.

  • The woman, Marcy Lafferty, is absolutely NOTHING REMOTELY like Vivien Leigh, and doesn't sound or look anything alike her, even with make-up! She has a huge nose and a deep, throaty voice. Leigh had a beautifully graceful face and posture and Lafferty quite honestly, looks and moves like a cow in my opinion! Not even close to Leigh's style or her demeanor. I had never heard of this Lafferty woman and now I can understand why. Her portrayal of Leigh is dreadful.

  • She was so beautiful , Love her.

  • Thank you for this documentary! She's amazing and i truly love her! For me personally she was the greatest actress of all time.

  • I had NO IDEA that Vivian Leigh was English!! I thought she was American! LOL! That only proves she's a great actress!

  • Oohh. what a beautiful baby she was..!!!

  • Best and most beautiful actress ever!!!

  • I don`t bealive in perfection but i accept the only compromise i do is when i say that Vivien Leigh was just the perfection in terms of beauty

  • @daciuss what about Elizabeth Taylor? hahaha

  • @malows1234 then u must think people from Auschwitz were beautiful then, if u think vivien leigh was fat you have problems. also look at yourself in the mirror, i am sure you are no beauty yourself

  • @daciuss beauty and talent,, and bi polarism

  • @TheChampolaglow same with Sinatra, how come u are not knocking him about it?

  • Comment removed

  • Vivian Leigh was the most gracefully beautiful actress of all time.

She was a proper actress, very much UNLIKE the overpaid Hollywood trash of today.

  • Well Jennifer Conelly is one of the great actresses today. Watch a Beautiful Mind.

  • @Dungarth This past sunday the ny post had an article about her. They said she was involved in ac/dc foursomes. So much of a nympho her husband Laurence Oliver divorced her and married Joan Plowright. Now thats a good name.

  • @norb1937 do u have the link about this article? I'm going to be doing a speach about her soon. Plus I'm just wondering.

  • @FanofBewitched I just got the Post out of the paper pile. The story is on page 11 of Sunday Aug 22's NYPOST.. They have a big picture of her wearing a red robe and even slurred her name by calling her Vivien "Lay". In the article they refer to her as a slutty bi sexual.I guess some people think its bad to get horney. If she was around today they'd have videos of her on the net doing what comes naturally. Norb

  • @Dungarth I totally agree

  • @Dungarth they don't make them like they used to.

  • @Dungarth Julianne Moore, Hilary Swank, Gwynith Paltrow, Holly Hunter, Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts, Carrie-Anne Moss, Mary Stuart Masterson, Juliet Lewis, Renee Zellweger, Bonnie Hunt, Hallie Berry, Diane Kruger, Diane Lane, Kate Winslet. Cate Blanchett, Emma Watson, Karen Allen, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Elle MacPherson, Helen Hunt, Marissa Tomei, Mira Sorveno, Alyssa Milano, Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, YOU MORON

  • I always here Americans saying English people are ugly...

  • Huh?? Most americans are decendants of the english?

  • that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard...

people from every corner of the world have moved to America... definitely not just english

  • Thanks for informing of that. Dumbest thing you ever heard? Majority of americans are decendants of the english. Fact.

  • excuse me? have you heard of illegal immigration? not to mention the fact that the major immigration of ireland during the potato famine, africans from slave trade, and not to mention any other country ever?

you are a fucking moron. fact.

  • CLASS ACT

  • u r right tbh.. henrynash needs a good lesson in history b4 he can start talkin shit and gettin told off like a kid lol. fact

  • yes but english ruled americans until they got disloyal and had the whole boston tea party fiasco

    english set sail on mayflower

ireland was ruled by the british at the time, so english/british quite synonymous so descendants in that way.

vivien leigh a fantastic BRITISH actress

julie andrews in america a fantastic BRITISH actress

  • yeah but how along ago did that happen? and what has happened since? not all of americans are of english decent, jesus

  • yeah but their roots are in england both physically and mentally; plus everything with the world wars that britain did.

and they speak ENGLISH surely the biggest giveaway??

  • Vivien Leigh is without doubt one of the most beautiful actresses of all times, like Grace Kelly and Marilyn

  • did anyone else notice the parallels between vivien and scarlett o'hara's personalities? and how her first husband looks strikingly like the actor who played ashleigh?

  • My favourite actress EvEr!!!! She NEVER DIED!!! She is a Roses ... and everything :'(

  • hedy lamarr isn't even close to being as beautiful as vivien!

  • Who ever that was doing that pretend interview sketch of vivian was horrible!

  • Except for the Academy Awards segment are there other interviews with her?

  • oh my gosh i always watch this show in the Australian TV every wednesday at 2:30 pm they featured a lot of classic stars... so sad it's not shown anyomore...

  • Im sorry that I didnt spell check my work Forgive Me Thanks

  • After watching GWTW over and over, I have concluded that I am in love with Sarlett. I have never seenany one change their facial oos as fast and humourous as she did in this great movie.... I hate the fact the Carke Gable got the top billing but I know what year it was. And one more thought. Many of historys gretest preformers were either mentally different or ceated their best works while doing hard drug

  • She's the original English rose. Porcelain complexion, refined features. No way in hell does she have Indian blood. She is very, very English.... and besides, upper class English people in those days certainly would not have been mixing with Indians. They don't even do it today.

  • I wish America could make up there mind? One minute its all english people are ugly next its aww she is the most beutiful woman I've ever seen :S!

  • She was Southern,,,Damn, didn't you see her in GWTW

  • Besides her devastating beauty, the performance she gave as Blanche in Street car named desire was as good of a female lead as I have ever seen, She matched Brando step for step in the movie, and according to this documentary, that got along well off the set.

  • Interesting...a search for "vivien leigh indian blood" brings out many reports such as viz "Vivien Leigh was born in Darjeeling, British India on November 5th 1913 a British Army officer in the Indian Cavalry, Ernest Hartley and his wife Gertrude Yackje, who is thought to have originated from Armenian or Parsee Indian ancestry"but as usual anyone famous is claimed as british despite reports to the contrary.

  • I think you need to do some PROPER research.Vivien was undoutably English. Her father was a Yorkshireman and her mother was also British almost certainly the result of a mixed marriage,i.e Catholic/Prodestant hence the reason she started life in an orphanage. The Yackjee comes from her ADOPTED family.Indeed, her mother was fair skinned, green eyed with auburn hair which would probably be an Irish connection. The French ancestry is also not true.

  • @andicatz Who gives a flying fuck if she was part Indian, all Indian, or three-quaters Wookie?! Look at her! As an actress she was without equal!!!

  • The only fault in part 1 is that they used a blonde headed child to represent her. I don't get that!

    She was always dark haired.

  • she sounds a lot like the character she plays (scarlett)

  • Wow, Vivien Leigh sounded like a horrible person.

  • Comment removed

  • The marriage photos are not that of Vivien Leigh. Vi's chin was VERY pointed. Also, the photos look like someone that was much older than Vivien Leigh. Of course, she did have a daughter but I am not convinced that was the marriage photo??????

  • "always have clean underwar." now where have i heard that before? cute.

  • I have a friend who looks just like Vivien, and she has the same body Vivien had.

  • Wow, your friend then is THE most beautiful woman alive.

  • everyone has his own taste, but it's true, I've always admired my friend. We were 4 close friends and each one had been given a surname: I was "the bishop" (because I studied very much), the 2 others were "the toyboy" (because she acted like a boy), and "the timid". The girl who looks like Vivien was "the beauty". We vere a fantastic team!

  • Yes everyone has their own taste, but there are those TIMELESS faces that go way beyond just "beautiful"...and yes beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I dont care who you are and what ur taste is, if you dont think Vivien Leigh is at least one of THE most beautiful women to have ever walked this Earth, your blind or retarded. Most likely BOTH. Vivien's face BEYONG beauty and perfection. So if your friend really DOES look anything like her, Im SO jealous!! Sounds you guys had a fun group! :)

  • personnaly, I think that the most beautiful women on earth are Elisabeth taylor and Marilyn Monroe. But I adore Vivien too.

Taylor is the most beautiful face ever...

  • Marylin is NOTHING special. AT ALL. Typical white girl, people just hyped her up to be the sex symbol. Taylor is stunning, but Vivien has this intelligence, this grace and intensity, this fire and evidence of pure English blood, something that Taylor never possesed. Taylor was JUST beautiful, Vivien wasnt just stunning. I personally dont understand how mother nature could have created such perfection. lol

  • Vivien Leigh was Anglo-Indian. Not pure english blood.

  • She was of French and Irish descent. Im not sure where you got Indian from. But she was English bred.

  • The French part was never established. I got the "indian" part from journalists studying her geneology, and if you google her origins you will see from her maternal "Indian" side her mother's maiden name was Yachjee. Indian women are the most beautiful in the world and have won miss world at at least six times. But like jews in hollywood and english acting if you had a foreign descent you actually hid it if you wanted to get a part.

  • Um yes it was actually. Her mother was of Irish descent and her father was a French aristocrat. She had absolutely no Indian in her, and you can see so. Shes 110% Caucausian. Indian women being beautiful is your opinion lol dont know if I agree with that, but her origins are very well established. I read a HUUUGE bio book about her.

  • Believe what you want. She was a marvellous actress. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all nationalities are beautiful, including russian, i just mentioned a fact about the Miss world and India winning the most times. But however colour prejudice remains it seems. Anglo Indians are white, brown and every colour inbetween. You would not be able to distinguish indian blood by just looking. Indians are white from the northern parts, himalyas with green eyes and dark from the south.

  • Beauty IS the in eye of the beholder, and just because they have won pagents and contest really doesnt mean anything. Most of Miss Worlds and Universes are absolutely nothing special, I see prettier girls every in my city. Soo. I dont know, all I read is that she is of French and Irish descent, I read a lot about her and Im sure somewhere in her official huge bio they would have mentioned that she has Indian blood in her. And I never read that.

  • You call yourself "MsRussianBeauty" and maybe you are without the pageants title. I myself have won 2 major pageants in Miss Asia and Miss Carribbean and Commonwealth in my time and I can tell you straight here and now that you need the personality, poise and a very special aura to win and compete in these pageants. So Ms Beauty whatever you see in the cities, maybe true but it is not just beauty that is judged in these competitions. So do not undermine them please.

  • Well I do undermine them, sorry to say. Im glad you won your share and your clearly very proud of it which is great, but I personally think they're bullshit. I know its not just beauty, I still stand by my opinion. And its just a youtube nickname, lol everything else was taken, dont look so deep into it. Point is, Vivien Leigh is the MOST beautiful woman to have EVER walked the Earth in MY opinion.

  • You're kind of stuck up.

  • It was also considered instresting that she played Scarlett O'Hara who in the book was also of French and Irish descent, except it was her father who was Irish and mother a French aristocrat.

  • Keep your mouth shut
