    -Rachael

P.S. how manny hurs a day of practice a day dou do??

  • @ilikelollypops1 Hi Rachael, Thanks for watching!!! I think the trickiest part is keeping the character and mood through the runs. Not letting it get technical sounding. This is such a fun piece!!!

Back when this video was made I think I practiced about 2 hours a day. But now I try to do 3.

    Good luck on your exam!!!

  • @GeoRockMin

sorry to bother you again just wondering who is ur teacher??? thanks again :)

  • kids who are naturals at what they can do just share and demonstrate such genuine joy and enjoyment. Their music/art stands out. Well done, and thanks for giving this to this lovely piece I've chosen to learn too!

  • @gudrina Thank you!!! That's really nice!!! Have fun playing La Flute de Pan!!!

    --Emma

  • this is absolutely incredible! your tone is outstanding! you have definitely given me inspiration as to how i can play this piece for my exam this year :) well done, you have so much talent!

  • @emmeelulu Hi, Thanks!!! This is a great piece for your exam!!! I hope you do great and have fun!!!

    --Emma

  • This is fantastic! My flute teacher specifcally told me to look you up as I am playing this piece. Your tone is brilliant. At that age I was writing bad poetry and making breathy sounds on my crappy first flute. I'm sure you'll do great things.

  • @marchingbandswag Thanks for watching!!! Tell your teacher I say Hi!!! Flute Rocks!!!

    --Emma

  • @XXXFluteGiaXXX Hi, Thanks!!! This is such a fun piece to play!!! I hope you have fun too!!!

    --Emma

  • Hey Emma! Don't matter what other people telling you, THIS IS AMAZING. I'm just working out this piece for a concert at end of january and you are really really really great. And this piece is NOT ment to be played faster! :) Keep on!

  • @BrainStew28 Hi, Thanks for watching!!! Yah I like this tempo, I think it's pretty close to the tempo marking, but it's okay if other people play it the way they like. Hope you have a fun time playing in your concert!!!

    --Emma

  • This is so amazing, I wish I could play as good as you :)

  • @Malaskah Hi, Thanks for watching!!! It's a really fun piece to play!!! I hope you give it a try!!!

    --Emma

  • @wheretonext1 Don't be so mean, just because you play it fast doesn't mean Emma has to! Fast doesn't always mean better!

  • @WorldofGino :) :) !!! Thanks!!! --Emma

  • Just wondering, how long did it take to learn just "Pan Et Les Bergers"? And how much for the whole "La Flute De Pan"? Thanks!

  • @BurningEnna Hi, It usually takes a couple weeks to learn the notes and markings for a piece, but then for me it usually takes a couple more weeks to really figure out what I want the music to say. I usually try to learn all the movements for something at the same time. That way it all makes sense together. Have fun!!! It's a great piece!!!

  • Hey Emma, I've been learning this piece as my solo I am going to perform. It is not coming along quite well. Any tips on this particular piece?

  • @beautybuzz11 Hi, This is a really fun piece. And it's really descriptive - Pan and the shepherds. So for me I really tried to make it sound like outside, and the sound bouncing around between the hills. And goats leaping around the rocks. And for technique, practice the runs alot lot lot!!! Hope that helps!!! Let me know how it goes!!!

    --Emma

  • I'm using your video to help me practice this ;p

    You're freaking amazing!

  • @ashleyelizabeth1030 Hi, Thanks for watching!!! This is a really fun piece to play!!!

    --Emma

  • You are SO AMAZING

  • FANTASTIC :D

  • Totally. Not. Fair. I've been playing the flute for 8 years now (I was 2 years older then you are now in this video) and I still can't get this piece correct! And here you are playing it without the sheet music. Bravo!

Your tone is beautiful. It's so clear and warm. It remind's me of James Galway's playing, and that's hard to do considering how good he is.

Keep up the good work! You've got some amazing talent!

  • @BecandYami Thank you!!! That's really nice!!! Have fun playing your flute - Flute Rocks!!!

    --Emma

  • Wow you're really amazing. This piece is one of my favourites and you played it very well~

  • Great performance, but it is a bummer that your accompanist screwed up the ending for you. He should lean to follow you better. You knew right where he was though like a true professional! Brava!

  • Another amazing song! :)

  • Hi Emma! My name is Marina, and I'm brazilian. I love to watch your videos, they're amazing! it's easy to see your progress. Keep studying and playing a lot, cause I'm sure you're (and will be) the best flutist of your generation. Good Luck, and Congratulations!

  • @marinaflauta2009 Hi Marina, Thank you!!! That's really nice coming from another flutist!!!

    --Emma

  • The 1 person who pressed the don't like was so amazed by you that he accidentally pressed the wrong button. You are truly amazing, Emma. Keep up the good work and keep on surprising everyone!

  • @lexopdephilippines Thanks!!! :) :) --Emma

  • Nice job, Emma! Great job saving the ending! OMG... your pianist had a slight mishap, but OH! how you covered it so well!!!!!! That's how it's done. Saw you look right back at him, I would have paid to see the face you gave him... LOL ;-) Look forward to hearing the rest of your recital. This is one of my favorite pieces to play. Hector

  • @FALAUT101 Hi Hector, Thank you!!! You're a terrific flutist and your kindness means alot!!! I just wanted to say I'm a lucky lucky lucky girl when I play with Brad. He's an awesome pianist and I can make music however I want and I never have to worry because he's right there with me no matter what. I was really happy with how we sound together and when I looked back it was to smile to check in and say I'm happy we're on the same team!!!

Thanks again for watching my video!!! --Emma

  • @GeoRockMin Glad to hear it! You both work very well together. It's just one of those funny things that happen from time to time in live performance, and I just enjoyed how you just kept it going... good to know it wasn't a killer stare but a friendly blink ... ;-)

  • Emma I love this piece! Thanks for sharing with us again! Keep up the great work :)

  • Hi Emma! You are truly amazing!!

I'm a Flutist and a Physiotherapist and I noticed your posture: pay attention! When you are playing you tilt on you left and it is so bad for your back! Tray to rotate not to traslate on your left: pehaps doing a step forward with your left foot can help you!

    Your sound is wonderful!

  • @Lallalovi88 Thanks!!! --Emma

  • I am so amazed by you!!!! I can't believe you are nine and playing this piece! I played this at my senior recital when I was a performance major. When I was nine I was playing stupid simple pieces with a horrible tone. I wish I had your talent, you are going to go very far! I can't wait to hear you in concert when you are in your twenties. Take advantage of all the master classes you can and never stop playing. You will be our world's next greatest flutist!!!

  • @pomegranate81 Awww thanks!!! That means alot to me!!!

    --Emma

  • Emma is truly amazing. Really.

But I'm not sure about the tempo here - a bit fast?!! That's just my opinion though, and does nothing to take away from your skills!

  • ah. i'm playing this and am six years older. i hadn't even started at your age.. impressive.

  • Hi Emma :) I have a question: do you know some web pages where I can find flute parts ?? It could be awesome if I can have some new parts for play :)

  • @GabiitaH93 Hi, You can buy pretty much every flute piece in the world at the FluteWorld website. Really they have everything!!! Have fun playing!!!

    --Emma

  • do you memorize all these songs? ur amazing

  • @twinkie347 Hi, Thanks for watching!!! Yah I try to memorize my pieces. I think it's hard to have the music staring at me and have to worry about turning pages. Thanks again!!!

    --Emma

  • Bravaaaaaa :-D Keep going.

  • that has got to be one of the most beautiful and amazing things i have ever heard. i love listing to you:)

  • @flowerpower576 Thank you :) :) --Emma

  • That was so beautiful! You did an excellent job.

  • Marvellous.

  • Absolutly gorgeous. I know little of flute, all I can say I enjoy so much all your performances :)

  • @ExcelLied Hi Thank you!!! I'm always happy when people listen to flute music!!!

    --Emma

  • I love this piece!!! It's one of my favorites!!!

  • Amazing as always!! :) xx

  • Lovely !!!

  • :D This is absolutely amazing!

    Fantastic job!! =]=]

  • What do you do to help you with fast passages that are difficult or awkward for your fingers?

  • Though I am not her teacher, I can tell you a very good technique for helping awkward/difficult passages: Distort the rhythms. If you're looking at a line of sixteenth notes, play first using the articulation long, short, long(ect), using a dotted eight sixteenth rhythm. Keep doing it, speeding it up until you're able to get it under your fingers. Next, play the passage again but with opposite articulation and rhythm. Play the passage as written after that. You'll be amazed. Trust me.:)

  • @Absolutegreek89 Hi, Thanks for watching!!! The old saying is "Slow makes fast." I start really slow so my fingers know exactly what to do. Then I go to a medium tempo. If I can't get it right I slow down again. To play fast my fingers have to know exactly what to do. If I have to think about it then I can't go fast. Slow makes fast. Let me know how it goes. --Emma

  • :D Totally right, that applies to all instruments, we need patience to play slow most of the time to be able to play faster later.

  • That is just... AMAZING!!! I am so happy to see this and your other new videos!! are you posting anymore videos? :)

ANd I wanted to ask, what is the name of this song?

Another fantastic video from you! I hope you have a nice day and have fun playing your magnificent flute!!! all the best!!

    Haelin :D

  • OMG! I played this when I was in 10th grade for state solo and ensemble. You did a fabulous job! I know how difficult this song was for me but you performed it flawlessly. Great Job!

  • awesome job!

I think i liked this song most out of the 3 you posted. I dunno if it's just because i like the song itself more or that u just played it better. But still, amazing job! keep up the good work and i can see u being a professional flutist/flautist/fluter in the future!
