@Rolandzebub: the 'need' was plain old unashamed censorship, plus possibly a personal vendetta between the FDA agents, whom indeed most nutty Reich had called various names and threatened when they paid him an uncordial visit. Mind you, Reich had always been blacklisted in the US - I guess his mixture of Communism and fixation with all things orgasmic was too much for the McCarthyist lot. Poor old nutter.
