It's no wonder he's so uncomfortable, you don't just start off with these questions in an interview. You work up to them. First you ask basic things to get the interviewee comfortable and let them lead the interview. I'm sure eventually Connor would have said something that could have prompted a question about God or war and lead to an interesting opinion, but you have to let the interviewee get to that place. Goodness!

How exactly does war make money? I don't think the U.S. is in any better shape finaicailly because of the Iran and Afganistatan wars. It amazes me that interviewers really think that kids (oberst is just a kid) would know anything about anything really.

You're right the U.S. is not in better shape. But there is a very small percentage of the population that have made exponential profits off of the current wars. They also own more than 90 percent of the nation's total wealth. Also I find it pretty unfair to totally write off someone's opinion who is over 30 years of age.

@tremoloheart If you aren't the invaded state, war is a huge profit. The amount of money the US generated during WWII singlehandedly put us into world superpower status. Funding a war is one of the biggest stimuli for boosting an economy. While many people have profited immensely from Iran and Afghanistan, they are not technically wars and should be viewed differently in terms of value. But I agree, musicians are not politicians, and we often give them too much say on matters they don't know.

@tremoloheart It might not make money for the country necessarily however if the people that make the decisions to invade countries under (heaven forbid) a lie about WMD just so happen to be shareholders in weapon manufacturers then you can see where a conflict of interest starts to arise. And where loads of money can be made.
