  • david jo is the best ty for posting rip john bellitti

  • Cool name-checks @ 5:17!

  • Wow, I haven't heard this tune in decades. Simply excellent.

    Thanks for the upload.

  • David Johansen is so much better than Steve Tyler, who just looks like something out of the Dark Crystal.

  • @simonsaintgilles Tyler certainly knew the Dolls were sooo much better and way hotter than his band. And couldn't stand it. Bebe Buell even confirmed it!

  • This is quite possibly the greatest video on Youtube.

  • David Johansen is one of the only entertainers who has reinvented himself throughout his career and succeded every time. Whether one thinks these changes were for the good or not, you have to admire him for his talent and creativity.

  • Chris Robison, is my name-freedumb1able is my YouTube account ... The following comment is a matter of R E C O R D...............

  • @freedumb1able Sorry you were treated like that Chris. For the record, you guys wrote some unforgettable music. Thanks!

  • For the record- I helped Johansen write this song while I was a member of the Dolls 1975-1976------------- Like an idiot I couldn't let that go------ SO I SUED my old friend, and WON, of course, as a CO-WRITER of this song, AND 'Funky But Chic', AND 'Cool Metro', --and earned the scorn of David for life.........We Settled out of court- -What a 'Phyrric Victory'---- meaning no victory at ALL------ When I write songs, I give CREDIT where credit is DO ( I guess I'm old-fashioned that way...)

  • @freedumb1able why then was Syl given credit? and was he involved in the settlement? i had a similar thing happen many years ago. my late friend Mike and i played in differant bands but on certain nights we would record our new ideas on an old tascam. the point being we would hand out these tapes to get feedback from other Boston area bands the Blake Babies being one of them, several years later it ended up on a Lemonheads record credited to Evan Dando! RIP Mikey

  • I'v been listening to this at least once a week for six months now. Purely timeless.

  • Notice at 3:20 Sylvain changes the chorus to "touch my pants"

  • @ksdaman Good call- yes, he does! :-)

  • This is one of the great rock songs of all time. His performance is just A+. Cool without arrogance, ironic without smugness. I've watched it 20 times in the last few days.

  • I went to see David J at the Paradise Theatre in Boston in 1978 and a few years later. Also saw him at a small club in Queens Villaege NY roughly 1979. All the shows were rockers like this one but the audiences were wild unlike this one. Where was this show recorded and when. Still remember him as one of the best live rockers i ever saw.

  • I saw him at the Atlantis Club at 930 F Street in Washington, DC 1979. Pretty Cool! Even cooler, I saw him with the New York Dolls at Lisner Auditorium on December 14, 1974...got his harmonica (still have it). Those were the days!

  • @a99999z lucky man. VERY LUCKY.

  • @PiinkRock Good times!

  • Wow, that's Sylvain on piano! I didn't even know Syl played piano. He really was the best Doll.

  • Lighten up audience!!!! You're in the presence of legends!! ;)

  • A truly great romantic cha-cha-cha song and don't David J and Syl both look seriously cool?

  • Love and miss you, Frankie.

  • saw him last nt in Baysore LI doing an Acoustic duette number. 100 person audience and he was truly wesone

  • DJ is an amazing artist and Norwegian-American!

  • My FAVORITE DJ song, I love my Norwegian cousin!

  • My favorite song from the album (though "Donna" is close second).

    YAY!!!

  • I was at a WMMS coffee break concert at the Cleveland Agora where the crowd started chanting let's just F......over the air and I got on tape, great stuff!

  • @jaj702 I was at that show too. We went the night before and I threw and Indians batting helmet on the stage which he wore. He ended up opening up the Coffebreak wearing that same hat and the picture of David J. in that hat ended up in the PD and Scene Magazine from that show.

  • This is just fucking amazing to see.

  • what a rare treat- I'm a huge NY Dolls and David Jo fan, and I've never seen this. David Jo is amazing- he gives you a little bit of everything, with an energy level of men 1/2 his age. Thanks for sharing...
