  • That is a nifty tool there...never knew how this was done until watching your video. Thanks for posting! By the way...sure would like to find one of these 'growlers' at a yard sale or auction sometime, but I bet when the bidders know what they're bidding on, they go sky high! Maybe I could make one or something...I am pretty good with fabrication, and have plenty of parts laying aroung to do it.

  • Old school +1.

  • IT's a cool checking plan. Bravo, maestro!

  • In this video , is the armature good or bad after growler test ? I means this test tells what the armature is shorted or open? Good or BAD ?

  • @ShahrukhZafar1 This armature in this video is good with no shorts. If there was a short the ruler looking piece of metal would jump and chatter quite violently.

  • Yes I can show a Bad armature ....thanks for 'shocking' muh mind ...lol

  • Dr. Frankensteins back up plan in case there wasn't any lightning.

Thanks for posting could you post a video with a bad armature too

  • lolllllllll Twisty ....yer bad I likes yew..

  • when my girlfriend gives me head i call it a growler, she makes some really great noises. . .

  • @twistymcslide2 cretin

  • Sounds like getting a haircut. Only you can probably shock yourself with it.

  • That is the coolest volt meter i have ever seen

  • wow that sounds awesome, thanks for posting! never seen a growler in action before!

  • your volt meter peg out ,so how do you know for sure?why don't you just use a ohm meter to check from bar to bar?

  • The Fields were magnets. Yes I've used the blade shorting test many times on cheaper gowlers with no meters. You can use an external meter ,though.

These reel motors are very smooth running....totally enclosed explosion proof for use on oil & gas trucks

  • That's a pretty good sized armature. DC magnet stator or wound?

I have seen where they take the blade and look for sparks across adjacent commutator segments when on a growler. I think it may have been to save time vs the voltmeter.

One would think the voltmeter method is less destructive.
