@ionballer92 I remember that team growing up. I was only a little kid back then but those were some good teams. Lofton, Omar, Justice, Manny, Thome, the Alomars, Baerga, Nagy. Cleveland itself deserves at least one good team year round wether its the Cavs, Browns or Indians. Just gives everyone something to pride themselves with.

as a white sox fan,i was VERY disappointed in the way the fans treated jim thome during his first @ bat / return to cleveland.i sat stunned listening-watching the tv & felt an overwelming sadness for him as he stood @ the plate that first time !!! don't get it !!!

I love the Cleveland Indians but they made a huge mistake when they let him go...He wanted to spend the rest of his career as an indian and he even took a pay-cut. I know they were rebuilding but come on!!!!

Omar was always a classy guy. He nailed those double-plays, bare-handing the ball in mid air and torpedoing it to second, but he never celebrated those great stops or showboated against the other team, it was just part of his job. The crowd roared while he simply looked at home waiting for the next batter. His spot in the Hall of Fame as the best shortstop will be well-deserved.

Let's make this VERY clear...Just because a scrappy little middle-infielder can hit around .300 and steal some bases does NOT make him a fair comparison to Mr. Vizquel. Show me some gold-gloves, some amazing defensive stats over a longer sampling than 2 seasons, and THEN you may make a fair comparison that is not INSULTING to the best defensive SS ever to play the game, and yes, I post Ozzie Smith as 2 or 1A to Omar being #1.

Omar truly is a class act...really brings back great memories of the 90's!! Could we be watching the uprising of Omar Part 2 in Asdrubal Cabrera? This kid has a ton of talent..and has had a great season despite this horrible team we have..Looking forward to the future he has!! GO TRIBE!!
