When the lottery came to WNEV... The hour long 6pm news left and Live at 5 came to Boston.. the first news to air at 5 in Boston. WBZ-TV's Live on 4 aired at 5:30.
That's right, because THE LOTTERY acquisition prompted WNEV to build a game show hour of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! from 7 to 8pm, with both Lottery Live drawings programmed during the last two commercial breaks of J!. In turn, the CBS Evening News moved to 6:30.
Got any video of Dave Wright... who was the brain child of the Live at 5 format.. which lives to this day on ATV, now CTV Atlantic over there to the east in a place we call The Maritimes.
I could have been watching this live, I was 10 years old living in Boston. Dinking cherry 7up and eating a chocobliss probably, waiting for Santa.
