Resident Evil: Afterlife Movie Review

The reason why we original and real fans hate this movie series is so simple a baby would know without thinking: YOU CAN'T MAKE FAN FICTION A LEGITIMATE PART OF THE STORYLINE AND CONVINVE US ORIGINAL FANS AND REAL FANS OTHERWISE, PAUL W S ANDERSON AND UWE BOLL!!!!

To be honest I'm a bit surprised the live action films have lasted this long. Being outside the cannon of the games just...lacks appeal.

RE started out more or less as a playable B horror film, and that's what hooked a lot of fans into survival horror.

Call me old, call me nostalgic, call me stuck in the past...but creepy mansions and the walking dead are simply more entertaining to me than vast conspiracies and glitzy Matrix-esque fight sequences.

I usually like your reviews Vaughn ... Not this one; I could be expressing my biased opinion, however you banged on something above sub-par. The games are delightful, the only reason they would suck is because you blow them. I liked this one .. a matter of opposing tastes

Good review VaughnFry. This movie was awful. Your right about RE5. That was bad. But I cant believe you gave this movie a 2 out of 4. Should have been lower than that. Cause you didnt mention that Wesker made her human, but yet she can survive a plane crash plus getting hit by the Executioner's hammer.

@MoviesintheMix plus Wesker survives the same crash and is next seen on Arcadia. This raises the questions over why he didn't kill an unconscious Alice on the mountain. Bottom line, the script it too stupid but I found enough likable qualities in the visuals to make it a 2 star.

As for this movie, it's one of the best I've seen this year, probably of this decade actually, it's gone guns, hot girls, zombies, axe-men and crazy ass action sequences.

I'd give it 9.7/10

I've been an RE fan for over 12 years and have also enjoyed the movies, but this one disappointed me so much. After I left the theatre I said to myself, "I cant wait to see what Vaughn Fry thought of this." And I gave it the same score too!

@LegendaryBadass also, I'm not a fan of slow motion during action scenes, but the executioner fight is almost worth a star in itself. Sure would have been nice though had we not SEEN that serum attack Alice's cells, a chopper crash that would kill Chuck Norris, and the RE5 style infected.

Holy crap dude!!!! Not to spam my videos on you. But go to "My Videos". Click on "Twilight Zone: I Draw Death". Don't watch the whole thing if you don't want to but do click on the 6:10 time marker. We totally have the same kitchen save for the wallpaper. "Had" actually. Dont' live there no more. But the point is, we had the same kitchen. Very important information right there.

Oh, and wouldn't say RE5 is the worst game ever made but I sure as hell hate the direction the series is going.

@FestArc similar layout save that mine's wider and some of the appliances are flipped. But as for RE5, how often does a game developer get so many people together and spend so much money to make a game that sucks like an Electrolux. The only equivalent would be if Halo Reach got ride of grenades on the left trigger and made you stand still to fire or melee.

@VaughnFry Yeah, I still don't know why you have to stand still to shoot. I would understand if your aim was off while running and shooting at the same time while standing still made you aim steady. But to not be able to shoot while walking at all is pushing it for the "next gen" video game age. People would say it adds to the "survival horror" factor of the game but resident evil stopped being a survival horror a long time ago. That ended with like RE2.

@FestArc the problem starts at RE4. That's where it moves away from a "puzzle game that happens to feature zombies" to a "infested action-adventure game". The controls are not good enough for the latter. By the time 5 hits, it's not scary, it's not fun, it's uncontrollable. If someone wants to make a great game they should hire me to oversee it.

@LegendaryBadass Agreed. Personally, even thought the two are very simular, I find Dead Space to be a far more effective survival horror than RE4 or RE5. Dead Space basicly has the same gameplay as RE5 but the enviroments, atmospher, music, and being stuck on a ship with John Carpenter's The Thing looking creatures is just way creepier in my opinion. With Dead Space 2 coming out I hope the problems that RE4 and 5 had don't appear in Dead Space 2

@thenamesbanana Avatar hit theatres for a second wave of attack just recently. You may still be able to catch it. However, I think the Executioner fight here was more impressive, in a pure 3D display sense, than Avatar's big battle.
