Hello, we are stranded in Chicago and can't get back. Our house is up the hill from Maplecrest at the junction of CR 40 and Barnum Road. ( farm house with pond). do you know if it was severely damaged? flooded? Any info or pics would be extremely appreciated. @emiliadeino we have a house on hilltop drive extension, from what we know there is tons of damage and the low lying town is wiped out. My father and others are going to attempt to try to get up to the extension some how tom, although access to the whole area is very difficult because lots of roads are torn apart and some of the bridges have been completely wiped out. Such a sad situation, I plan to head up to Maplecrest as soon as I can next week...
@emiliadeino from what I saw Monday night Barnum Road looked pretty good. Only way into Maplecrest that night was via Round Hills Rd and then down behind Morrow's Store. Roads seemed to be in great shape (all things considered) back there. Main road into Maplecrest is open now, as is the bridge by Garvey's garage. Power was back on as of 7pm tonight, though not sure about up the hill heading to Barnum rd and Jewett. If I had to guess I'd say it's back on.
shoulda mentioned I hope to be back up that way Thursday, if so I'll try and check on your property and get some pictures for you if you haven't already made it in. My number is 518-209-9773, though on the mtn seems that test messages are the only thing that gets thru.
