I know its a great computer. But unless you are using it as a workstation is useless. I will have at least 150+ FPS in a every game, max res and details. But is useless if only human eye can catch 60. You will say its future proof, but technology evolves, and by the time the 580 are getting older, im sure new technologies will be developed, as DirectX 12 or else. That power is needed only for workstation and 580 are just for gaming. Real workstation video cards are nVidia Quadro or AMD Firepro.
@7omRavenclaw This pc is dog old now but he does use it for work also why is it useless its a hobby some people collect 1million dollar cars some build 15k pc's what's your issue? we can spend our money on anything we want and the human eye can see well above 60
@zeansor So? Did I ever said it was wrong of him to pay that sum of money to build a PC? I said it was way to much performance as a gaming rig. Next time, read more carefully, fanboy.
@7omRavenclaw Ugh please stop telling people that the human eye can only see 60 frames per second... it's an old internet rumor that's been spread way too much and it's completely false.
@oXDesdinovaXo Yes, my mistake, but you might wanna know that LCD and LED monitors works with frequency of 60Hz, so they are locked to show 60 fps. It doesnt moatter if you have 120 fps, you still see the same result as 60 fps.
@Snapscape how dumb are you, this is an large mobo for a reason. plus technology has advances since 2006, this is not an extended atx ots larger than that due to chipset and to sustain that many pci express slots
@superliontiger12 Usually when technology advances, things get smaller, not larger. My board has four PCIe slots and 2 PCI slots. This is like the ColecoVision of motherboards.
@cyclist14 I use both. My gaming system is a PC (Maximus IV Extreme-Z) and my workstation is a Mac because I have to constantly upgrade when using PC hardware for media projects.
There making a SR-3 with compatibly with the 3930K, 3960X, 3820 and any other close to release SBE CPU's, Sandy Bridge E with SR-3 with destroy these Xeons
I am a new to building my own computer, but OMG wow. Can someone tell me why there are two cpu's. And why you would need something like this. Let me say again, i am amazed that something like this exist
If I'm not mistaken this insane motherboard is an LGA 1366 socket, so the Gulftown processors should fit. Or is this one of those things where the board itself just isn't build to handle that kind of processor? I would think if money was no object that you could just drop two i7-990X Gultown (LGA 1366) processors in there and just go totally all out.
@DEKARONGAMER97 maybe he was thinking that each CPU needed a QPI link to the chipset as well as a bridge to each other :| desktop chips dont sup MP (multi proc)
SR2 is for Xeons which are server cpus which is why there is no heat sink for the mobo. Server CPU are designed to run continuously at 100C per intel specs. The 990x is for a regular desktop but nothing beats a Xeon. Better parts and a specialized architecture. Also 1366 socket is basically dead. Intel completely shifted the design and tech. Now u can't even future proof anything industry moves too quickly.
@ThomasCreel no, no no no a GTX480 can at max go to 250 watt he has 4, overclocked.. so a generic 1100 watter will crash.. a platinum can powerer it. and oh wait he has more than 4 GPUS he has 2cpus ram bla bla bla.
@KickerLivinLoud conductivity is good for static. Low resistance reduces voltage and allows current to flow through the bag. If the bag wasn't conductive then the current couldn't flow through it so it would have to flow through the motherboard.
@rhino2595 hmm yea that is. I guess that they assume that if your buying the board you have enough money for a graphics card. But it would be sick if it had like amazing built in graphics wouldnt it? Maybe even just as strong at an 8800
@MrMike655 The 2600k? No it doesn't. Windows benchmarks may suggest that, but that is either because the tests are low threaded or because Windows is doing a terrible job of feeding all 12 threads (which it often does).
I'm not really familiar with the intel xeon procie.... is this dual xeons 12 core going to be better than a single core i7? or is it just going to be better for extreme multi core processing and not so much for just plain gaming?
@zozanday EPEEN points and bragging rights. He isn't even pushing this to half it's potential, 12GB on a set up like this is weak, you'd want 32 at least. Also even a top end i7 single socket set up with equivalent GPU's and so on is way overkill for most games on the market.
Its a flipping server mobo. i have an older server tower with the mobo XD i think its got like 1gb or ram(8 sticks in total) and 2x intel xeons(1ghz each not sure on the actually name as it was free and i dont care to look it up) how much did that run u?
Aca ya te salio mal, la camara necesito zoom para poder ver mejor a los componentes y desde otro angulo porque el reflejo en los paquetes no dejaba ver nada.
Seeing him lay that motherboard down on top of the anti-static bag like that makes me cringe. Those bags act as Faraday cages and move all of the static from the inside onto the outside of the bag; you should never put whatever was inside on top of them.
