we have a rice cooker at my house now. I remember the days when my mum used to cook rice in a pot. Good times..

its called a cup not a bowl, a bowl can be 3 quarts of water, u have to be specific

actually, the word would be "part" as in , 1 part rice, 2 parts water. but its not difficult to see what she means. Also, being specific would be using mesurements, grams, litres, etc
