Victor Borge had it all. Besides being a piano player nonpareil, he was a very clever and classy man who produced extraordinarily funny humor that was free of dirt and which hurt absolutely no one or anything. How in heck did he manage it so casually? We shall probably never see his match again.
lol i love victor borge! lol he's hilarious and i noticed something no1 else prolly has.. speaking of mozart the amout of minutes and seconds in this video is the same as the K. no. in a popular song of his, sonata K. 545 lol... the vid is 5:45 XD wierd!
Hello! I'm Argentinian, so I don't undertand prety much his pronunciation. Can someone send me a private with the "script" of this? It will be great! Thanks
Serenade translates as "Ständchen", which is in fact the name of the song (from the Swansong cycle). "Leise flehen meine Lieder" is how the first verse goes.
How did Borge "hit tune" end up sounding, I wonder?

the one at 1:40 is Standchen (lieu de repos)composed by Schubert.

correction:
1:40 is Standchen composed by Schubert.
Lieu de repos however, is actually the Aufenthalt, also composed by Schubert and transcribed by Liszt.
WissamB 3 years ago
aw...I was hoping he would actually play some Shostakovich

Hi divito1. The Schubert piece is Ständchen, a serenade, and the joke is that it's probably one of his most famous melodies.
