  • what schubert piece was that???

  • @Heat0nMyFeet Sorry serenade :)))!

  • Victor Borge had it all. Besides being a piano player nonpareil, he was a very clever and classy man who produced extraordinarily funny humor that was free of dirt and which hurt absolutely no one or anything. How in heck did he manage it so casually? We shall probably never see his match again.

  • @WeeWyllie I totally agree...great talent! There will never be anyone like him again, he truly was one of a kind...loved him!! :o)

  • He invented cut and paste too!!!

  • shostakovich! shostakovich! Just a moment! lol incredible count on victor borge to make comedy out of piano

  • So funny.

  • Is there a sequence anywhere?

  • Shoshta moment here....

  • that joke should be "da-daladada-da,da(B,C)!

  • i own a couple of vhs tapes of him and that is EXACTLY the joke he makes!! it was hilarious :-)

  • lol i love victor borge! lol he's hilarious and i noticed something no1 else prolly has.. speaking of mozart the amout of minutes and seconds in this video is the same as the K. no. in a popular song of his, sonata K. 545 lol... the vid is 5:45 XD wierd!

  • Victor Borge always cracks me up :)

  • can someone tell me the names of the songs

    that he plays

    for examp: tchaikovsky- piano

    concerto

  • the one at 1:40 is Standchen (lieu de repos)composed by Schubert.

  • correction:

1:40 is Standchen composed by Schubert.

Lieu de repos however, is actually the Aufenthalt, also composed by Schubert and transcribed by Liszt.

  • aw...I was hoping he would actually play some Shostakovich

  • Briliant,briliant briliant.

Saw him perform many years ago,he still makes me smile with utter pleasure.

Thanks to those who put these on.

    Peter

  • Hi divito1. The Schubert piece is Ständchen, a serenade, and the joke is that it's probably one of his most famous melodies.

  • so brilliant...made me cry with laughter...hes a genous

  • I would love to see the rest of this show... Is this on DVD?

  • Does anyone know the part he plays from Schubert? I know a bit of him myself but never heard that piece before...

  • Leise flehen meine Lieder

  • Thank you very much!

  • Didn't VB say the name - "Serenade"? Which probably translates as Leise flehen meine lieder?

  • Serenade translates as "Ständchen", which is in fact the name of the song (from the Swansong cycle). "Leise flehen meine Lieder" is how the first verse goes.

How did Borge "hit tune" end up sounding, I wonder?

  • look up this clip : v=_kVrbz_oJ3g on YouTube

  • lol great bit

  • he's just brilliant didnt he?

  • Yes, he...did.

  • can somebody pm for the rest of this magnificant show? Thanks in advance!

  • where can i find the rest of this episode

  • Aww, that was great. I wish PBS didn't cut it down. I was looking forward to hearing the amngled music he put together.
