  • How are you guys watching this and playing your piano? If you have a real piano, do you set up your laptop or whatever right next to it so you can watch and play? I almost want to buy a small keyboard for near my lap on a bed and put the laptop next to it and learn in COMFORT lol.

  • @dianne768 i do that lol

  • @jojo48427

  • well your a great teacher. Im comeing around bit slow but thats ok. Im not in much of a hurry anyway. more practice. thanks for all the help

  • once again great lesson and thanks for taking time out to post this. It has been very helpful in getting me started.

  • neeljosnarlo: there is no such a thing as a whole note - a note is a note e.g. c or fsharp.. the tone is the distance between 2 notes semi tone, tone, 3 semi tones, 2 tones...

  • I am a saxophone player but i really want to learn to play piano. I have short fingers any1 have any good idead about learning piano.

  • thank u for teaching ^_^

  • I thought they were called whole NOTES?

I guess I'm gonna call em whole tones for now on. :)

  • @neeljosnaralo, a whole note is when you hold a key for 4 beats within a measure. Notice when he plays "Mary had a little lamb," he holds the last note (C) for longer than the others, that's a whole note, most of the other notes are quarter notes, they're played for only one beat. The 7th note he plays (E) is a half note because he holds it down for 2 beats. I'm sure he'll get into that if he teaches to read music. That's the diff between notes and tones. Hope this helps.

  • @caribena1966 Yep! Thanks! :)

  • @neeljosnaralo You're welcome. :-)

  • I LOVE YOUR HAIR (:

  • @joejonasgotsglasses mee too ^_^

  • Haha i love it when i get the perfect 8th

  • are whole tones and semi tones like whole steps and half steps? (I play the violin)

  • @5nikki50 Yes, they are the same thing. A whole tone is a whole step and a semi tone is a half step.

  • Thank you.

  • you have piano hand. my finger is short ^^

  • Thank You For the Free classes! I needed a little help going back to playing piano thnxx your so cute and funny :)

  • Comment removed

  • I said I think it's great the fact that he gave a whole piano class for free here

I never said he should stop doing it, and I never said people who can't afford piano classes shouldn't get one for free.

I did say it's unfair for those who teach for a living!

My mom used to be a piano teacher, what if her students stopped taking classes because of these videos?

It would totally make the difference.

I do volunteer work twice a week, and I love what I do. So don't you call me selfish.

  • @FriendsAna1 It's not unfair, there are no rules that say you can't teach. Fairness comes from having specific rules set forth. What rules are there in making music or learning it?

Also, doing volunteer work doesn't make you unselfish. Ever heard of people doing it because they have to.

  • u dont have a bad speech at all lol. and ur realy helpful. never have a hard time understanding anyting u say

  • @FriendsAna1 Not everyone will be able to afford the expensive classes you were able to receive, and that is why he is doing this so that everyone will be able to have the ability to play, irregardless of their financial state. Life is unfair, but knowledge, like what he is providing here, should be attainable to all.

  • @MsDolphin101 good job. except u said irregardless

  • @MsDolphin101 internet costs more than lessons.

  • Not mine, and the internet is pretty much necessary for a lot of things.

  • @kawshun tehee my lessons cost £9 an hour and I've been going for quite a while. Everything this guy has taught me in 30 minutes in the first lesson was what I had to learn in about 5 lessons with 1 hour each. my teacher was too formal and serious he just had to tell me every little bit of detail. it was unnecessary and it did make me a little bit smarter but i could have gone through it without knowing. and I'm sure that my internet cost less than £9 X 5 Days (and more).

  • @FriendsAna1 Yeah? Well its pretty unfair to the people who cant afford piano lessons. I defiantly cant. So this is good for me. I begged for piano lessons my whole life, and now I can FINALLY get them. For free. So its not fair for the people who cant afford it. Don't ruin this for people. Seriously. Think about that.

  • @xBlAcKrAiN95x Me too. I know do hip hop because I am musically inclined but my parents did not tink music was something to spend teir hard earned cash on. Thank you Lypur for what you are doing.

  • @FriendsAna1 n00b

  • @FriendsAna1

You really are an asshole, if you got the chance to learn to play for free you would jump at the chance, dont come on here giving this guy shit when he is simply trying to spread his knowledge which should be respected.

  • @FriendsAna1

well try to think of it the other way around.

imagine if lessons and teaching would be free to everyone from the start, kind of an idealistic scenario, gut great. then suddenly someone comes around and says those lessons can not be available anymore for free. instead you had to pay for lessons. now THAT would be unfair.

the concept of free teaching and knowledge for everyone is just better for all.

(i remember paying for lexica, now there´s wikipedia and i dont mind...)

  • @FriendsAna1

Well let's look at it this way. Everyone needs food. We all have to pay for it. So if there was someone giving away free food would you refuse to go there because it's not fair for the butcher shop owners, or the bakeries, or the farmers? I think not

  • ya pas un coiffeur dans ton cartier lol

  • i hav a keyboard is it a big difference ?

  • I really want to learn, i've followed your first lesson perfectly.. using the virtual keyboard :'(

I'm going to buy a digital piano soon for my birthday! :D

  • Many years ago, I had piano lessons, but the tutor was a miserable, and straight laced old man who mocked my poor ability...although I had paid for six lessons in advance..I never went back..he destroyed my confidence.

God I wish I had known you then, now I would be Elton John or Liberace!

You are a wonderful tutor and very humble. Budding pianists will go from strength to strength with your superb videos.

  • thank you.. :) your such a good piano teacher.. :)

  • it is really amazing work!

  • thank you soooooo much ^^ i really learned a lot of things watching these 2 videos.. ^^ anyway..again thank you so much

  • simple and it works! thanks

  • Some know "hole tones" and "semi tones" as "whole steps" and "half steps". Just sayin'

  • OMG, you are amazing!!! of course, you already know that ;) i want to play piano SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO badly!!!
