@frankydman dante's inferno (inferno meaning hell in Italian) was a book written century's ago where this man named dante imagined hell thats why its called dante's inferno
Too bad nobody ever made a video capturing all the stunts before they tore this down. Part of the problem is how dark it was in there. You really ahve to turn your head a lot to see everything. There is a second gorilla near the end that I completely missed the first time because I was looking straight. It was just to the left of the exit, but I couldn't see it in this video.
Haha, it's supposed to be a book if you didn't know, but the ride is actually totally random compared to the book. It's the journey of Dante in Hell with Virgil and he meets people and their punishments along the way.....though...I have no idea what was up with the gorilla. XDD
This ride is being dismantled now since the amusement park closed forever since being in business since the 60's. The Cyclone and Deno's are still there for summer 09 though. The lady owner sold the land to a developer Thor/Joe Sitt a few years ago and she decided not to renew the lease for 09 so the rides must go. You might have taken your final ride ever on this ride last year. Who knows if Dante's will live elsewhere. There's a Dante's in Wildwood, NJ Morey's Piers that was remodeled.
I once shelled out 50 cents for me and my nephew who went on a dark ride at a tiny fair in texas. We made about about six serpentine turns in the dark and at the end what looked like a night light under a hankerchief lit up. Later, thankfully, Spidora, the half spider half human at the freak show didn't disappoint.
No top comment?!?! Boobie pies!

Why is the ride called Dante's Inferno if it has absolutely no connection to "The Divine Comedy?"

If the Ghost Hole is still there, and Spook-A-Rama at Deno's is open, Coney will have 2 dark rides this summer.
