  • @mrsarpong it will help generate your limit strength which is really just a way of introducing resistance. you would also need add a lot of muscles before you jump high with more foods while on a weight training regime. Astronauts loses bones and muscle while in the ABSENCE of resistance. I would most prefer the term "resistance training"

  • i starded doing some program a while back i think it was air alert 3 or something. for the three weeks i did it i noticed i was able to touch the rim but then i got so caught up during the season i had to stop and now all i can do is touch the rim which was a big increase in my vertical but i cant seem to find the free pdf file anymore, anyone helP?

  • These type of exercises doesn't help you jump. Just consider jumping as throwing a weight in the air. And consider that what you're trying to throw is 140, 150 pounds which will equal your body weight. You probably cannot even clean a nice 50 kilo. I'm assuming. It takes far more strength training than it should appear in your weak as tv.

  • i've been doing squats for awhile, but i don't think they help add to your vertical much. i think crunches and lunches will help more.

  • these exercises help u increasing ur flexibility and the more flexibility u got in your moment off jumping the faster u can push yourself flying in the air

    str training is needed ive u wanna improve fast but dont underestimate strechting `the movement ` of jumping , this exercise is uhm.. compared it to go out jumping for the rim

    take your steps and jump , u simulate the movement of jumping , bij stretching u get a greater area thats more flexibel and faster bij practicing ?? right

  • @justdoit11210 Why do you one dimensional dudes keep coming on these vids spouting this bullshit. All that squat lunge weight resistance bullshit is not the only way to increase your vertical. It's called technique and approach. Stretching maximizes your muscle range. That should be common sense. When you stretch you use the full range of the muscle you stretch. Squats won't do that buddy.. strength training is one small portion of increasing vertical

  • @atl2maryland Sup, Haven't I told you that a full olympic bar squat involves the most muscles than any other exercises? Just body weight exercises won't recruit motors, similar when lifting a spoon and fork in eating, you only involve sow twitch motors.

  • @XRockerDJBeast honestly... achilles tendon, calf muscles, hamstrings, buttox(lol.. seriously tho), lower back, upper body, etc all help you get higher. This isn't the 70's anymore.. things are more advanced now. You need to work out your whole body to jump high. You can't just try to isolate certain parts and think you're maximizing your leap. What you're saying is right, it's just incomplete. Just like doing squats all do thinking you'll maximize your leap. INCOMPLETE

  • yes but ud probably have to do it with resistance bands. its really good for your speed and 1 legged jumping

  • wont help as much. yellow or green resistance bands are at minimum 300% more effective. just google resistance band training

  • hip flexors are underated muscles. when you dunk off one leg it is the pulling force that adds to your pushing force(from quads and hamstrings)

  • this is ridiculous, your increasing your strengh in moving your legs towards you, but when you jump, you do the opposit, you push them away from you !

  • well if your trying to dunk with your right hand...you just off your left foot and vice versa. for me. it helps to be close to the rim. take one dribble and then take off bth feet. and dunk with two hands. but then again i'm 6'4

  • If you are right handed, you should be going off you left foot. Thats probally why you feel uncomfortable. Right hand left foot, left hand right foot

  • do some calf raises and go to the gym and squat. then you will see some real increase. also jumping is the best excercise. just sit there and jump as high as you can.

  • I agree this guy's stuff works! Some feedback what I have learnt doing this over the past 10 yrs.

  • Ankle weights ROCK!

    * Increased vertical 24" to 30" in 8 wks.

    * Went HARD plyo 30mins, 3 x per wk MAX. off season.

    * Box/cone jumps + ankle weights works. * Vert. leg curls + weights (hamstrings)

    Be PATIENT, finished training & it took 2 weeks for muscles to re-adjust, soft tissue soreness.

    Am 6' 5" caucasian & could touch top of square on backboard. Blocked a shot at this height in a game. Felt like flying, nothin' better. One-on-one defense/ balance/quickness improves a lot.

  • These exercises work out key muscles involved in jumping. If you use ankle weights correctly they should not hurt your knees, especially if you just use them for the exercises he is showing. I've seen a lot of people knocking this guy but he speaks the truth.
