  • Yes, he is blind, but he never allows that to defeat him.

  • is he blind?

  • There's a good chance that Mustafa will be performing in many places during the coming months and years. When he is back in Cairo for more than a few days, I will try to find out more about his long term residence ideas. He is a man on the move.

  • رائعة جدا

i hope that i meet mustafa

  • الله الله الله الله يا فن

  • @wxxo I've got to learn to read Arabic with precision. But thanks, and I know Mustafa will read these comments.

  • @oud11 مصري

  • Nice!

  • @crash9321 Thanks, on Mustafa's behalf and my own. I have nothing but the highest regard for Mustafa, certainly one of the greates young oud players alive. And a good singer who gets real emotion into the songs he sings.

  • @crash9321 Thanks again. I have the greatest respect fo Mustafa, certainly one of the finest young oud players in the world. And a fine singer as well, projecting and injecting deep emotion into the words of his song.

  • I have never seen anyone sing and play that good like him,, the words, the way he sing is so amazing!!! good job and keep it up.

  • @Bzbooz123 Thanks for the encouragement. We will keep trying.

  • Wonderful. Simply wonderful music.

  • @wazzapgangsta Thanks for the comment. Hopefully Mustafa will be back in Cairo soon, and we can perhaps do more of this.

  • this is not just music...this is communication with the universe...trip to the spacetime

  • @lefterhsk1 Yes. Mustafa's music is oten "out of this world". Thanks for the comment.

  • that is pure brilliance.

  • @elnivan I agree entirely. I am waiting for Mustafa to return to Egypt (presently he is studying and performing in Beirut) so we can do some more like this. That is, if he agrees. Cheers for Mustafa!

  • الله.... أطربتني ...جميل جدا

  • @awtariii I'll assume Mustafa will read this when he has someone check for him. I'll also assume it is a nice comment (I can't read Arabic accurately) and thank you for it.

  • is he turkish because i am

  • @smokingblunts1 No. Mustafa is Egyptian. But he plays lots of Turkish music as well as other music from other places.

  • @TheFolksinger He has a wonderful voice. Thanks for uploading the video.

  • The guitar is in fact a cut down version of the oud. The guitar was introduced to europe (spain) as an adaptation of the oud during the Islamic reign in spain.

  • @cafeespresso99 I guess there is a lot of truth in this historical linkage. Nice that now both exist and function quite differently.

  • @TheFolksinger Yes absolutely. i love them both in different ways because they each create distinctly different moods.

  • @cafeespresso99 Thanks again.

  • ghinaaa asilll w 3azeff la yo3laaa 3lehhh !!

    alla yi7mik ya rabb :D

  • @wahech007 Showed this to a friend who speaks Egyptian Arabic, but he couldn't read it. A translation in English, if possible?

  • @TheFolksinger tried posting a translation for wahech007's message but it fails to appear...Here's one last try:

ghinaaa asilll --> authentic / traditional singing

w 3azeff la yo3laaa 3lehhh --> and playing (of instrument) which cannot be surpassed

alla yi7mik ya rabb --> may Allah protect you

  • @cafeespresso99 Thanks for the translation. We share your feelings.

  • That is some serious headstock back-angle!

  • @Hoopermazing This is a really well made oud. A pretty typical angle, though.

  • @TheFolksinger I'm more or less unfamiliar with that instrument.

In fact, a first glance, I thought that it was a craviola. However, I was speaking (tongue in cheek) from the perspective of a guitarist with the headstock comment.

  • @Hoopermazing Actually, I assumed that. But for the general public, the oud may seem to some as a new instrument, though it is indeed historically old.

  • @TheFolksinger - I actually looked it up after your last reply, and learn how it and the fretted European lute are offshoots of the same ancient instrument. I really like those (forgive my musical ignorance) in between non-chromatic intervals that he's able to play on the oud.

  • @Hoopermazing Those intervals are integral to the maqams, which are sort of like scales, but which at least to me seem much more complex and make use of half flatted notes in many ways. Makes the music exciting as well as beautiful.

  • He is really something special. I enjoy his style a lot.

  • @bulerias81 Thanks for the kind words.

  • so fast melodic playing with singing.. great

  • @deadzior I agree. Mustafa is the best!

  • @deadzior Thanks for your confirmation.

  • I love widening my musical perspective and this video helped. Mustafa is a talented musician. It would be wonderful to understand the language, but the music is wonderful. Thank you for posting this.

  • @AbsurdBrane You are most welcome. Mustafa is one of the world's finest oud players, and I feel honored that he is willing to drop by as a friend and share his music with me, and with the Youtube world.
