It's not really fart humor... it's a metajoke making fun of puerile fart humor. this cartoon was aired on MTV in the late evenings back in the day... and was for teens and adults, not small children. Also, it's satire... this bogus food that's made virtually out of cellulose ('sawdust') isn't so great for the intestines. The fart propulsion power is more a joke about bad industrial processed overly-advertised 'food' than about silly potty humor. Classic American satire.

But... i used to watch it on MTV in the evenings. :) I had Disney, HBO, Skinemax, Nick, and MTV growing up... kid in the 80s and teen in the 90s... and I never saw it on Nickelodeon. I think they toned some stuff down and re-aired Ren and Stimpy on Nick in the late 90s or 2000s... but I first saw it on MTV and it had not aired anywhere else before then. We can check the wiki article on it. It can be thought of as a kids' cartoon... but it was really more geared for teens and adults.
