@elizziebooks that would be great! I'm a high school student now, so if someone did that then it might get students more excited about reading books for school. Any chance that you'd want to do that? :)
I personally think today's society seems a lot like the one in the book. Although most of us aren't burning books, we turn away from them in favor of things that enliven us more. (i think they tend to be information, entertainment in television and the internet, and social media) there's just too much stimulation to allow for quiet thought. There's information but no knowledge. In the case of books being banned, banning books would be like banning opinions. It limits our perspective and thinking
I tried to listen to the audio book version of this, but I felt that it was too deep of a book, and I'm going to pick up a physical copy from my library today. I know a lot of people who also liked this book and I am surprised that I actually did not have to read this book in high school. Great review! :)
I read this in high school and HATED it. I picked it up when I was 20, and fell in love with it. I do think it's the whole 'required reading' label thing that turns people right off haha
I've heard about this book only through YouTube, we've never studied it my classes (I live in the UK), but I'm going to see if my library has a copy - it sounds so good!
I'm reading this in my Honors English class as a Freshman. :)

I know I read this in high school but don't remember a thing about it. Maybe I'll give it another shot.

@ManderleyDreams it would be awesome if book reviewers/bloggers did a series for re-reading the stuff we read in HS

@elizziebooks Not a bad idea. It's funny how much an opinion of a book can change just after a few years and not being forced to read it.

@TickleButton2 I'd have to compile a list because I didn't actually read many novels in high school, other than 12th grade english.

Book Banning to me is very ironic because I go to the list and write them down as books to buy/read xD

I don't see why a book would be banned for offensive language. That would be like banning south park because of how offensive it is.
Voldey 4 months ago
@Voldey True true. Shows like SP are aired later at night because of the language and content. I guess it would be kind of hard to do that to books.

the ending of the book was my favorite part. very hopeful yet ambiguous.

A favorite, glad to hear your views on it!
Book burning in the digital age would be quite a fruitless endeavor indeed!
"Even though it was written in the 1950's" LOL had me rolling!

You don't seem too rambly even though you're not scripted! This sounds so interesting, on my to be read list.

But why was it banned? I didn't realize it was banned until a long time after I had read this book.

@Metzgirl Offensive language and questionable choices/morals.
