  • You can't learn if you don't have flaws! Great video, learned a lot!

  • try 1 or 2 vertical supports

  • You can use cheap re-bar to strenghten your pipe

  • it was like the wind was on que (however you spell it lol)

  • Nice video post. Good sense of humor too. Made me laugh. Yeah schedule 40 would be better....remember though that PVC is susceptible to the deteriorating affects of the sun over time. (you could paint it with UV resistant paint though)

  • try schedule 40 ele ,gray pipe

  • try schedule 40 ele ,gray pipe

  • Incredibly stuped! PVC is not made to span that type of area. Schedule 40 galv. pipe is made to span that area due to the rigidity but snow / wind load is diffrent.

  • i bet if u redesign u'll have better structure

  • I bet if you filled the pipe with dirt or concrete it wouldn't do that so easily...

  • thanks for being brave and showing the mistake.

  • Great tip. This is what make YouTube great. Thanks for sharing.

  • seems like maybe a centre wooden frame going under/across the structure wuld have been the go. Im sure you must have considered this, so why did you not do that? what made you decide to go another way?

  • the biggest problem with this set up was bad planning - there isnt any constant air flow - best bet is to use metal and glass - or some other permanent material

  • felicidades por intentarlo!!! has aprendido mas acerca de las estructuras economicas

congratulations for try!!!, you did learned about the low-cost structurs

  • it just need more structure

  • @ingesumadre Yeah, this isn't the PVC's fault. This is a lack of engineering.

  • you need more of a bend

  • Did the 40 work better?

  • Actually No. I ended up replacing the entire porch cover with cedar 2x4 frame and rafters covered with polycarbonate corragated sheets. Very happy with this result.

  • thanks for this info

was wondering which to use for a row cover

If the 40 can take the bend i;ll use it

  • Or You could get sch.80 pvc it comes in a gray color.

  • bend some metal conduit. or better yet, bend some chain link fence top rail tubing. bender will cost you about 70 bucks.

  • Could you fill the tubes with concrete?

  • you have the base for a decent structure, just get it secured better.

  • At least it's not breaking. Maybe try supporting it with some 2x2 across the bottom of your vertical, and a couple down from that.

  • what is schedule 20 and 40?

  • schedule 20 has a thinner wall sch 40 is sturdier

  • @gusterson thats the strengt of the pvc

    thank you ;)

  • @gusterson 40 is stronger holds like 80psi or something like that. its thicker.
