The cold war ended more than 20 years ago. If the US administrations need more time to adjust policies maybe we should look for the peanut brains there?
There is no other state realy working on power projection than the US since the end of the cold war. With the extreme military gap in between the US and the rest of the world the US should slow down a decade or two and wait if China realy becomes more aggressive than the US already is.

I have no doubt that Russia and China (and the vast majority of all states in the world) would like to have significant more influence on others than they have. But intentions do not yield results by themself. Right now the gap is extremly wide and it does not make sense to keep it that wide.
Another thing is that all major powers seem to respect the UN (might want to check its charta...) more than the US. Perhaps it would be a nice idea to use the institutions more.
I do not realy care if North Korea, Iran or who ever (states that is) aquires some arms. I would even not care if they aquired some nuclear capabilites as they won't aquire good delivery systems any time soon and as deterrence does work. I doubt that there is any state capable of aquiring substantial forces that is also suicidal.
I would prefer a peaceful world but if I have to decide in between a US world domination and balance of forces I go with balance.

In fact, it's used as a mini-awacs for aircraft on its side. The F-22 wasn't used in Libya because it didn't meet its mission profile. NATO didn't need an air superiority fighter that could take out air threats, they needed aircraft that could strike ground targets like the Eurofighter and Rafale.

The US could have easily beaten them, but every time advances were made, troops were ordered back. It seemed clear the US only wanted to stalemate in Vietnam for some reason for a decade. SCO would have to beat the US Navy and Air Force then build ships. It would take some time. NATO would have to defeat SCO's SAM somehow then beat all those troops somehow. Normally, US uses cruise missiles to shoot down SAM sites. But S-400 can shoot down cruise missiles with a 90% hit rate. They use two missiles, so 98% hit rate.

Right now, Russian planes, namely the PAK-FA, and the Chinese J-20 are equal to the F-22 with slight variations. F-22 is an old design. I would say the F-22 is inferior to both PAK-FA and the J-20. The main advantage the US has is in numbers. If the number of planes are 3:1 advantage in a battle, the quality must be 9:1 to equal out..very hard.

@TheTequilaShooter The RAND test did show F-22 being shot down. KS-172 is the longest BVR missile in the world. Russia knows how to see stealth fighters. True some F-22's were lost due to fuel tankers being shot down, but the majority were show down. But either way it doesn't matter. These simulations are not just a computer game. They are the best Crane computers in the world. Second, any stealth is seen once it turns on its radar, jams or opens missiles or has fuel tanks.

The simulation is hardly realistic, and is based on a # of Chinese aircraft that aren't even in service today. The F-22 has a passive radar that has proven very effective. I suggest you read how the F-22 took out the Rafale in UAE exercises, and wih rookie pilots, too.

@6630mcdo I've seen the video. You'll find other people that stongly disgree. If you want to see a F-35 with a larger wingspan than look at the USN version. And, having shorter wings doesn't mean crap. The USN version actually can pull less g's than the USAF and USMC F-35. The F-35's avionics are superior to anything Russia will have for many years to come. Last time I check Russia hasn't even put into service AESA while the US is now on its 4th generation.
In addition, the JSF has a smaller RCS than the PAK-FA, and it's one engine is more powerful than many fighter aircraft's two engines combined. It is reported when trials are done that the F-35 will be as manuverable as the F-16 and 18, but we'll have to wait and see.

AK's in Russia are about $150; in the USA, $600 and FLAR makes them $1500 if military bought them. So, looking at dollar for dollar is misleading.

For instance, if you include "sunk costs" the figures go way up on unit cost. But, that's not a fair representation because those costs would occur anyway. The best way to perform an analysis is to compare performance features, and that's where the F-22 excels. But then again, the PAK is just a prototype.

enegy that can be easly tacked. Why else do you think they turn on and off their radra so quickly to try and get a read. Problem for that strategy is that todays's missiles now remember the coordinates of the emission even after the radar turn off its signal, and its history.

I have no doubt that Russia and China (and the vast majority of all states in the world) would like to have significant more influence on others than they have. But intentions do not yield results by themself. Right now the gap is extremly wide and it does not make sense to keep it that wide.
Another thing is that all major powers seem to respect the UN (might want to check its charta...) more than the US. Perhaps it would be a nice idea to use the institutions more.

I do not realy care if North Korea, Iran or who ever (states that is) aquires some arms. I would even not care if they aquired some nuclear capabilites as they won't aquire good delivery systems any time soon and as deterrence does work. I doubt that there is any state capable of aquiring substantial forces that is also suicidal.
I would prefer a peaceful world but if I have to decide in between a US world domination and balance of forces I go with balance.

China is getting rich, not just by manufacturing US products but, South American, North American, Europe and the rest of Asia's products.

Shooter, you are so wrong. The RAND Corp. test was valid. F-22 is canceled for a reason. None can even fly now...grounded. 1 hr of flight requires 30 hrs of maintenance. F-22 cannot communicate with anyone! It has a very short range...small arms like a pistol or any guns can shoot through it, and that's why USAF is not using it in wars now...PAK-KA = $90M, F-22 = $320M, Buy 3.5 PAK's for each F-22...with a 3:1 ratio numbers quality needs to be 9:1...PAK is a better plane.

In fact, it's used as a mini-awacs for aircraft on its side. The F-22 wasn't used in Libya because it didn't meet its mission profile. NATO didn't need an air superiority fighter that could take out air threats, they needed aircraft that could strike ground targets like the Eurofighter and Rafale.

SCO would have to beat the US Navy and Air Force then build ships. It would take some time. NATO would have to defeat SCO's SAM somehow then beat all those troops somehow. Normally, US uses cruise missiles to shoot down SAM sites. But S-400 can shoot down cruise missiles with a 90% hit rate. They use two missiles, so 98% hit rate.

Right now, Russian planes, namely the PAK-FA, and the Chinese J-20 are equal to the F-22 with slight variations. F-22 is an old design. I would say the F-22 is inferior to both PAK-FA and the J-20. The main advantage the US has is in numbers. If the number of planes are 3:1 advantage in a battle, the quality must be 9:1 to equal out..very hard.

It's RCS is huge compared to the F-22, its avionics are primitive, it's engines are not developed, and tere is now doubt that they ever will be, it's a joke. So far all I've read is your opinion. Yes, Ufimtsev came up with the algorithms and some equations, which the US still uses today. Russia never utuilized his knowhow the way the US did, and didn't apply it to stealth fighter like the US did. @TheTequilaShooter The RAND test did show F-22 being shot down. KS-172 is the longest BVR missile in the world. Russia knows how to see stealth fighters. True some F-22's were lost due to fuel tankers being shot down, but the majority were show down. But either way it doesn't matter. These simulations are not just a computer game. They are the best Crane computers in the world. Second, any stealth is seen once it turns on its radar, jams or opens missiles or has fuel tanks.

@6630mcdo did you read the report because you're wrong. No F-22's were shot down. In fact, the F-22 scored a kill every time and they all went down due ot lack of fuel. The simulation is hardly realistic, and is based on a # of Chinese aircraft that aren't even in service today. The F-22 has a passive radar that has proven very effective. I suggest you read how the F-22 took out the Rafale in UAE exercises, and wih rookie pilots, too.

And the people talking are the 1) main designer of the F-16 and A-10 2) project manager at the Pentagon for the F-35, etc. If any air-force buys the F-35, it will be weaken by 1/2. @6630mcdo I've seen the video. You'll find other people that stongly disgree. If you want to see a F-35 with a larger wingspan than look at the USN version. And, having shorter wings doesn't mean crap. The USN version actually can pull less g's than the USAF and USMC F-35. The F-35's avionics are superior to anything Russia will have for many years to come. Last time I check Russia hasn't even put into service AESA while the US is now on its 4th generation.

In addition, the JSF has a smaller RCS than the PAK-FA, and it's one engine is more powerful than many fighter aircraft's two engines combined. It is reported when trials are done that the F-35 will be as manuverable as the F-16 and 18, but we'll have to wait and see.

The gap with Russia and Chinese spending is not far under USA's. Russia spent $6 billion for their T-50. US spent $366billion. Inflation in the US is about 9% per year since the bailouts. AK's in Russia are about $150; in the USA, $600 and FLAR makes them $1500 if military bought them. So, looking at dollar for dollar is misleading.

For instance, if you include "sunk costs" the figures go way up on unit cost. But, that's not a fair representation because those costs would occur anyway. The best way to perform an analysis is to compare performance features, and that's where the F-22 excels. But then again, the PAK is just a prototype.

Russia has longer range missiles - 3 times further than the furthest the US has now. But BVR missiles are only effective in limited roles.
