This song is firmly stuck in 1971.The reason for that is,I think, is when it left the charts DJs opened a studio window and frisbeed every copy into the shrubs.Never to be heard again until now.Great,(even if brain rattling) song.
Has anybody noticed a similarity between this song and the later "Cum On Feel the Noize" by Slade and even later, Quiet Riot? "Where's your mama gone?"/ "Cum On Feel the Noize"........then, "Far, far away"/ Wild, wild wild".
Baby Dolls Mumma witnessed her husband get taken far far away by chirping aliens leaving her iin stunned shock mimicking the chirping aliens while her daughter watches... Then. it was her turn... mwahahaahaaaaaa
Maybe it sounded like THIS!: ... /watch?v=6nwVNHqWgK0
I don't think them bands were ignored. I am sure if you do a survey more people will have heard of Led zeppelin and deep purple rather than middle of the road. Just that they have a different group of fans.
It was also #1 all over Scandanavia, especially Finland.
All over the summer of 1971 this was heard everywhere for about 3 months all over Europe. I saw them live in that summer in Helsinki, The Kyvahonne, I think it was. Those Finns sure know how to party! KS
Brings back memories of when i was a little kid and my older sister took me to the fairground for the first time, this was playing on the dodgems...great memory and we won a goldfish!..lol
los 70 han sido una de las peores epokas musikales k se recuerda pero los 90 y el siglo XXI la calidad musikal es penosa es diferente epoka patetika (los 70) y epoka penosa y askerosa ( los 90 y este siglo)

This song brings tears to my eyes. my earliest childhood memory ever is of me singing this song with my mum and late aunt (very sadly missed) in the local park when I was 3. a timeless classic!

Looks like the joke wall from Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In and the song likes it could sung on the Electric Company.

Possible darker interpretation of this song:
Baby Dolls Mumma witnessed her husband get taken far far away by chirping aliens leaving her iin stunned shock mimicking the chirping aliens while her daughter watches... Then. it was her turn... mwahahaahaaaaaa

Oh yeah it makes allot more sense than today's crap. None of us heard this group until lately.
The American version was by Mac and Katie Kisson.
Someone removed the c.d. version of that song a couple of weeks ago.
It would be nice if it found it way back.
I do like this very much. It seems to carry the feel of the late 60's and 70's even better....

This is the kind of pablum they played on pop radio in the seventies while ignoring Sabbath, Humble Pie, Led Zeppelin, Creedence, Deep Purple......

What is it about this song that people like it so much.
It is a dumb song that makes no sense.
Yet there are about 18 "official" versions of it that have been released.
AND I have listened to all of them . . .
LOL
Thanks for the post.
