I wasn't 'talking' about Opeth. I merely likened them to the band, which in my opinion is the ULTIMATE compliment. They are my favorite band on the planet. Now it is tied between the 2. Daylight Dies is fucking phenomenal, a breath of fresh air where 90% of all bands today sound the same. I thank the gods everyday that I can hear this kind of talent in this day and age.

I wholeheartedly disagree with your last statement. Opeth has NEVER had a bum album in my opinion. Not even a bum song for that matter.

I didn't say they've had a "bum" album, I just said that the last three or four weren't "great." Not to say that they weren't "good," but I hold Opeth to a very high standard. Records like My Arms Your Hearse, Still Life, Blackwater Park, and Damnation are some of the best albums ever made. I feel like Deliverance, Ghost Reveries, and Watershed, while they may be "good albums, aren't comparable with the genius of some of their earlier releases.

I feel you a bit on Watershed. I liked it, but I don't know that I loved it. I really did legitimately love Deliverance and Ghost Reveries. They may be different than blackwaterpark days, and REALLY different from their Still Life days, but I still enjoy them.

You can't compare the two bands, I actually just got into this band and I love them. I am a die hard Opeth fan, I have every single album they have put out from orchid to watershed and even if this band has some similarities, I still think they coined their own sound.

I guess I read "haven't been great" as "crappy." And yeah, I've listened to all of their albums extensively and I don't think I could pick a favorite. Each is a masterpiece in it's own right. Opeth is my favorite band by far.

That's cool, to each their own. Opeth isn't really a DOOM band anyway. But as far as DOOM bands go I will agree that Daylight Dies is pretty amazing. YOB's new album is pretty intense too. and I personally consider CROWBAR and NEUROSIS as DOOM also. I think all of the aforementioned bands are some of the best. But Daylight Dies is definitely in the top 5 at least.
