  • lol i bet the senors where trying to talk to you

  • @SwagOfaDisciple you already know

  • Your Awesome! Funny

  • This very informative cause I feel my personality is similar to yours so hearing this from you kind of have me prepared in case I have to do this he he he. Thank you, thank you for this.

  • oh god lol the part at the end

  • .....Were You Teaching At Cedar Grove? Sounds A LOT Like My Old High School LoL

  • This scares me, but Im looking forward to everything your saying. I feel like I can relate to you sooo much. I am going to school to get my degree in Elementary Education...The part where you mentioned be shy and intimidated to speak to a class of 32 kids--im slowly migrating towards elementry school though. What made you migrate from being geeked about elementary school vs. wanting to teach middle school? Love your vids about your education, thank you soo much

  • thank you thank you thank you!!!!

  • ilmao i started watching pt2 and stopped it to watch this i was wondering the entire video what it would be like to have u as a teacher. i could totally imagine you in the lions den, aka the art room of a high school, standing on tables tryna get these kids to do right *smh* so much patience especially considering u didnt want to do it in the first place. if i had a hat i'd tip it to ya homie!

    *headed to part two*

  • Hey thanks for the vid i'm about to go to college in September to do teaching and this is VERY helpful

  • @RB179D it's coming soon! i promise!

  • I'm so looking forward to part 2. I'm currently studying elementary education with a Spanish minor so when I graduate I'll have a license to teach general k-6 and middle school Spanish. I hear lots of stories from people who have been teaching for years, but not so many from new teachers or student teachers. So thank you. :D

  • They stay during lunch and after school because you're hot.

  • where is part 2!?

  • Part two pleassssseee! :D

  • @myenmoni i'm workin on it!

  • soo im in college studying Early CHildhood education .. i want to be a pre school teacher =) .. wow thats crazy tho about the student teaching

  • and the ending is the truth fa realz!

  • WOW!!!!!!! I feel you though on every level. I volunteer as a teacher for a photography program and you learn very quickly that you can't take yourself too seriously around the teenage kind...lol. I know your doing a great job though. When your in Atlanta we should work on some craziness!

    k-wud.com

  • I've taught for many years, in a major city....and, it's the saaaaaaame here!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you so much for this. As a possible future teacher (maybe) I definitely like hearing your perspective.

  • The whole video was good but the ending MY FAVORITE! "Do I go in your house and put the ketchup bottle under your pollow" LOL

  • The ending was | H I L A R I O U S ! | I was rolling ! Lmao - Thanks

  • you can always create your own Art school for adults. novice adult artist will take the classes you teach alot more serious and you will probably enjoy it more and you will be making money. One class you can teach them is how u paint those portraits you do etc. Also you can tutor me one on one, i'll pay you with a dinner and a movie.

  • Thanks for sharing your experience with us!!

  • This video was everything.. especially the end . lol

  • Perfect example of why I can't understand why teachers get so much hate. Sure, there's some crappy teachers...but so many teachers work hard and have to put up with so much, it's not fair to lump all teachers into one category.

  • you are so smart, ambitious full of energy & adorable, you are an amazing person.

  • wow you are hardcore Dari.

  • did any kids hit on you? i know they did to young teachers when i was in high school

  • Welcome to teaching Grasshopper! It does get better, a lot better. Two things have to happen for you to be successful:

    1) the kiddies have to believe with all their hearts that you are looking out for them and 2) they have have to believe that you know your stuff.

It is more about your personality than anything else.

I think you will be a great teacher.

  • Dari, do you bust students for chewing gum in class?

  • Lol I heard the SAME line by so many teachers growing up "I get paid regardless of whether blah blah blah..."

Honey you get props from me for even trying. I'da took somebody's kids out... and smacked the parents for not teaching them better... *sigh...

  • @Soulja4Alethia it's sooo true thoughhh. especially in art they think they're obligated to do "fun" assignments. no, it takes lots of time fro me to come up with said assignments, and supplies and teaching and knowledge for that assignment etc. it's way easier for me to say turn to page 82 and answer the questions and they don't get that. it feels good to say it, its like a reaffirmation to yourself. oh lawd, don't be a teacher. ever. please.

  • @applesandmustard haha trust me there is little danger of that. Someone's gotta do it though...

  • I totally know where u r coming from, I was straight shut mouth the first 2-3 weeks when I started working with troubled youth in a shelter about 4months ago. I was like OMG what have I gotten into, but now I love it and I'm one of the "kool" staff lol

  • Proof again that you are a positive motivator and loved..

  • LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    The END is The BEST.

    I taught you well.

  • @Grillmaster33 thumbs up. 4589 times.

  • @Grillmaster33 that was very grill-esque subconsciously. you're flowing through my veins.

  • dari, i'm 19 and i would have loved to have you as my art teacher in high school :)

  • Very interesting. I expereinced some of the same emotions when I student taught. Luckily I had 9th graders and 7th graders. I look like a ninth grader though; I still do. I had to keep telling myself ~remember you're the teacher can't think or talk like the youngins. lol! I am 4 years in the game now (lol!) and I still look like a 9th grader and I teach 9th graders. Student teaching was great overall, because I had an awesome mentor teacher.

  • I wish I took art in school cuz i like your work

  • wheewww WEEE....that's my response to the end of this video!! THAT is exactly WHY I have not chosen TEACHING as a career. A lot of people tell me they think I'd make a great teacher...just because I have patience and like to explain things (i.e. teach). But NOOOOOOOooooooooo....I can't. smh. With all of that said--I can't WAIT to hear the rest of your story Dari. Good job for hanging in there for as long as you did! :)

  • What would you do if your students found your videos? Haha they'd be like, "Ohhh, so THAT'S how she felt about us..." lol

  • @JadeLily88 hey, truth hurts... if they don't want to know they shouldn't watch

  • Praise baby Jesus in the manger. It's spring break! Too funny. I know exactly how you feel. I teach first grade and I have put on daily performances like the one you did at the end of your video. Sometimes you have to act crazy for them to listen.

  • have you started on method acting dari?

you know you have to do the progression chart, lol

  • @kindsomali what's method acting? progression chart? is this homework i was supposed to do?

  • @applesandmustard i sent the homework to grilledapples. please read the request and i'll send you a million dollars. thanks

  • Lmao at the end

  • PART TWO LOOKS BEASTLY!!! But i would have done the same thing. And my sculpture teacher used to do that too. LOL She was the bee's knee's thou. Loved her.

  • was there ever a situation where yur student watched yur videos on youtube ??? (to yur knowledge ) ????

  • @MizzWestPhilly215 only once did a student say they think they saw me on youtube, it never went further than that though

  • Lmfaoooo I REALLY can NOT wait for part 2 this is super interesting. I'd probably laugh at teacher dari too. Sorry lol

  • @sexcci92 yea, it's what they all say. just kick me while i'm down why dontcha?

  • lol can't wait for part 2!!!

  • This is a good video, I think I may make one like this as well

  • So that's why you draw so good. And I think you'd make a really good teacher :). Lol @ the ending

  • lmao!!!!! I can't wait for part 2!

  • I was going to become an art teacher too but I was in a college I hated and they didn't even have the courses I needed. Now I'm going back and I want to be a counselor instead. :P

  • DO NOT FUCK WITH TEACHER DARI lol love that last clip

  • @DPnGBtv BECAUSE I WILL LAY THE SMACK DOWN.

  • Wow....this was an awesome video. I can't for part 2!! Thank you for sharing this with us!

  • and I am sure you had rewarding experiences....can you address those?

  • @willseeker05 yes. yes i will :)

  • Congratulations on your experience. I subbed ( regular assignments, and elongated assignments) for high school students for about 2 years. High schoolers are beasts, but having them look up to you, and eventually respect you is a big deal and a good look. You seem like a natural.

  • ROTF... "Do I come to your house and take ketchup out your refrigerator and put it under your pillow.... NOOOOO! "....

  • you are truly a natural teacher look how you do your videos they are very informative.

  • lol i hear u. i was a camp counselor 2 summers in a row at my old school. it is me or do kids get dumber and dumber each year? lol. the worst part working the last summer was the co workers acting worse than the kids so i decided not to go back

  • i rlly liked this video

  • nice

  • Part 2 asap, pleeease!!!

  • The tone of the school starts from the top down. I've had my share of administrators (principals) who were less than stellar! I had several problem students as well--on the plus side, there were students who did poorly in academic classes who did well in mine. My niece is currently doing her student teaching and got her "baptism of fire" today--surpervising 85 5th graders!

  • Lmaoooo you got into that yelling at the end! Lmaoooooo!

  • I love this video. Thanks so much for posting it. Gave me a lot of insight :P

  • @debssays you're very welcome. seems to be the consensus here, i'm glad it's giving people insight!

  • Im not.a " teacher" but I deal with youth a lot of youth and they tak you there but teens preteens can make you love them or cant stand them

  • Thank you so much for sharing this! I plan to go into education when I graduate this fall ;)

  • WHOOQQAAAA

  • @apictureofruit whaaaaqqqqaatt?

  • Do you think you will go back to teaching? Have you thought about doing art in other settings like community centers?

  • @juewelz03 NOOOOOOOOOOooooOOOooooooooooo more teaching. unless i'm 58 and have nothing else to do. i thought about it for a second or two, but not much

  • i love all the dari's we got in this vid...normal quirky dari who doesn't want to make a vid about teaching WHILE she's teaching, hood dari @ 10:06, and "rampaging teacher" dari 10:17 made me long for school days gone by *sigh* :(

  • @9AMLUV there's many dari's livin in this little body of mine

  • I love you for this video b/c you spoke my mind haha. I am in student teaching right now but im elem education (my class is 3rd grade.) Juggling school and teaching is not easy at all but im almost at a 4.0 so yay.

  • u know....ive never thought of how teachers feel. I wonder how many student teachers' lives i ruined....

  • @Blackmovement001 its so completely different on the other side of things. i'm gonna hopefully touch on that in the second video

  • thanks so much for this video! i'll be student teaching art this fall. The semester will be divided into high school and elementary kids. Did you have to come up with your own lessons?

  • @lilstrokey i used my own mostly and by my own i mean from the internet tweaked or from someone else tweaked. nothing is every really knew, you just tweak lessons you fin to make them your own.

  • no wonder you barely did videos when you were working :s yeesh!

  • Thanks for sharing! :D

  • Xcellent video

  • oh and lmao ! I cant wait for part 2 I'm having flashbacks of my experience.

  • I thought I wanted to be an art teacher so I went to school for it for k-12 and they put me at an alternative school with some bad ass kids. I was pissed. But through it all it was so much damn work. The practicum was not the student teaching. It was just too long. I quit and now I work retail. FML.

Seriously, if I could go back I wouldn't have spent so much money on college. Find a trade and get training. You will be happier and not waste time only to find out that you're not cut out for it.

  • Wow! The ending had me rolling. I totally agree that people do need to cleanup after themselves.

  • This was great insight, Daria! Hopefully part two will be up soon. =)

  • Great vid! I can't wait to see part 2

  • im majoring in art & design, but im getting my teaching certificate too (which is only 40 more credits)...so basically if i dont like being an art teacher i have more room to do other things with my degree. :)

  • @lockedcanvas this is true. i have an art degree with a teaching license actually, so my major isn't even education. the possibilities are endless!

  • im soooooooooo excited for part two!!

  • very insightful. it's cool to hear about other student teaching experiences.

  • What subjects did you teach? :)

  • in addition to art that is

  • @symmetricalastic just art :)

  • I need part two uploaded now! LOL That rant gave me so much life.

  • I know exactly what you mean I was doing the exact same thing a few years ago and I just knew I was going to be teaching middle school art, but I teach elementary art but I love it. And the work during student teaching was so much busy work in the college classes

  • You seemed like youd be everyones fav teacher

  • great vid!

  • Cant wait for part two!

  • i wish i was in ur class

  • @anonymous10001000 would you be the cause of my frustration?!

  • @applesandmustard haha no but ur class would probably be fun......just because u like to joke and play.....

  • @anonymous10001000 and lay the SMACKDOWN!

  • @applesandmustard xP pleeeeez transfer and teach at my high school!

  • lmao...i CANT WAIT for part 2

  • lol..i remember when i used to want to be a police officer...idk y

  • @AnnaLanay not anymore?

  • @applesandmustard lol it went from that to an entrepreneur to a vet..idk what i want to do

  • I know where you're coming from completely!

  • "i wanted to be an airplane pilot, then i wanted to work at red lob- ANYWAY!"

    XD u crack me up

  • OMG that yelling part at the end 0_o ....makes me wanna take all of your art stuff and put it in the wrong spot.

  • @0neoftheboyz and i'd make you stay after school to clean my erasers. for the chalkboard that i don't have.....

  • do part 2 today!!! or Tommrow!!! :D

  • To Madam with Love 2011 =)

  • So... can we all call you babycakes?

    Y/N?

  • @vantesishere only you can vantes. only you. and nikki. yes. but mostly you.

  • Very nice video!

  • moar stories, you have NO idea how therapeutic this is!

  • that Wht Up Shawty if i may Ask How Old are You Cuz You Like Bout 19 lol Shit make Me Wont to Go Back To High school lol #MuchRespect

  • Do you think it was rather difficult because of what you taught? I'm and engineer and I want to teach math. I remember math class in high school appearing to be the least stressful class the teach (based on being a TA and paying attention to my teachers). I remember in my Art classes, it was rather chaotic because schools tend to treat those classes as filler. It would always be all over the place, but when I was in my gifted art class, it was so peaceful. Why else would u think it 's hard?

  • Wow! You're a real teacher! Coolness

  • @Nosaltypeanut WAS. was...previously. back in the day. as in i no longer am. :)

  • @applesandmustard omg ur not a teacher anymore? y? u seemed like u'd make a funny one lol

  • LOL@ you standing on the tables. Go Dari!

  • i had to buy fries to watch with this video lol

but i cant wait til you do the part 2 of "the law of attraction"

  • @MsAnywaysthesedays it's still coming! i have to make sure i have enough stuff for it ya know?

  • I just finished my student teaching in April. I absolutely love being a teacher. I was quite apprehensive when I started student teaching, but for different reasons. I taught in a homogenous area. There was not a single person of color in the building. The student demographic was the similar. There were barriers to overcome, but my students loved me and I loved them. I have students and parents that email me and want to keep in contact. Student teaching was hard, but we are stronger for it.

  • Ooohhhh....I feel the way u did at the end some days, lol. Ur too funny. Glad ur making more videos. Can't wait to see part 2 :)

  • LOL I wanted to be an airplane pilot too, until I heard about some plane crash, then I was like forget that!

But "and then I wanted to work at Red Lob" ... ster? LOL, why?

  • @makeawish23 because crablegs have aaaalways been my favorite food and i wanted free crablegs!

  • WOW...I wouldn't have that job on a Christmas Tree!!! ...Hormonal Teenagers..NOOOOOOOOO!!!..LOL I bet you were a good teacher though. I think I know the school system that you worked, and that'sthe biggest Debacle....The superintendent (P.G.) is full of Sugar-Honey-Ice-Tea!...busta! :O)

  • you making me want to change my major ... lmao.

  • @trazy09 noooooooo don't let me influence you! this whas just my experience, some people love it to death i just wasn't one of those people :)

  • can't wait to see part 2!

  • cool to see a real teacher, before sje was a teacher, know what i mean. in school we kinda always use to wounder how that teacher was as a younger lady,...jesus it has to be hard teaching high school.....ever watch the movie "Dangerous Minds " well i kinda thought about that movie while watching this vid....but ur sould is good and im sure even the high school kids will see that..thanks good luck & god bless

  • oooh that i was already accepted to college was my excuse this whole second semester for art class! lol

  • aww i dont like seeing you over whelmed. =(

  • Thank for keeping it real... I just graduated with my undergrad in business and taking the alternate route to become a teacher. I can't believe they threw you to the sharks by putting you in a high school class. Glad to see the experience only made you stronger. We need more teachers like you. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next vid.

  • Damnn at the end. sounding a little bit like Grill lmao.

  • @d0txk0m hahaha. GETCHA LIFE TOGETHER! he influenced me.

  • am i first?
