Yes there is a special pack called the space quest collection that says "works on windows XP" including the Space quest 1 remake. Hope this helps :)

Man, I really wish that the floppy-disk version of this game had the vocal narration of the CD-ROM version. It's so much more funnier this way. I couldn't stop laughing.

The distant dome doesn't look nearly as "awesome" in the CD version as it does in the disk version, though this is perhaps just personal preference...
