I accidentally carried this tape cassette (ages me I know) into rehab when I was 16. During that month, I think it helped me more than the hours and hours of group therapy and councelling I received.
@george8404 Billy Squire isn't gay. People often think that because of his music video "Rock Me Tonite" which shows Squier dancing around a bedroom in a pink tank top. The video was directed by some homo who makes Richard Simmons seem like Chuck Norris. He's actually married to a german soccer player named Nicole Banecki.
He never got traction back in the day because of his sexual orientation. How stupid?? I am as straight as they come but Billy seriously kicks ass and I can appreciate his talent
Anyone under 30 that likes this, good for you. When this record came out, he was called girl rock. Music critics gave him hell. he not only wrote the songs, he played most of the instruments. Like Prince, he was a 1 man band in the studio.
man those were the days me and my long black hair. and Billy Squier. man i used to turn this song up i didn't care if my people heared it out side. lol
Met billy squier today (oct 6, 2011) at my old middle school, one of the coolest guys you can ever meet in person. i was rehearsing lonely is the night with him and after rehearsal he was nice enough to show me the solo for lonely is the night. today's generation of kids just don't know what they're missing out on now a days.
@WithinThePower I'm so jealous! If you ever meet him again, tell him a girl in NC still LOVES him! His music stands the test of time. Good rock and roll is timeless.
I am a professional musician in Branson, Mo. When i get home I turn my Marshall's up to 11 and play guitar until my wife tells me to shut the fuck up,'You don't sound anything like Eddie Money....

Oh man the 10th grade circa 1982. You could not escape this song in San Jose California back then. Excellent era for music (Height of Heavy metal, New Wave, Skate-punk,Michael Jackson -Thriller) Just epicness on a daily dosage.
The current word is.. that Billy is gonna do a real tour in 2011.. And he was on eddie trunks' show on XM/Sirius in 2 separate parts in the fall of 2010 talking about his complete career for nealy 4 hours commercial free.. So do pay attention- the trunk is our friend in rock-
Billy Squier was my first concert...1982...I was 9 yrs old. Still love him, always always will a huge fan. I wish, I hope I can see him in concert again.
I used to get in my vette wearing my bell bottoms and butter fly collar drop the top so my 4ft of hair could blow in the wind put on my ray bans and drive 189 miles an hour rocking this.
@np392 I just turned 58 and have not yet learned to hate rock n roll. I love it still. It reminds me of the good and bad times and I can't get enough of it. I used to play this for my nurses and doctors on Iraq. They'd never heard of Squier! ll5 degrees and we boogied till we couldn't stand up anymore. Good music, good guy!!
I was a HUGE Billy Squier Fan -- got "Don't Say No" album in my Easter Basket when I was 8! Yes, I had a cool mother who is a music freak as well. When I moved to NYC in 1995, I lived on the Upper West Side and my neighbor was no other than...Billy Squier. I called my big brother and was like "OMG, guess who my neighbor is??" He had been off the radar for a long while, but you never forget those who were your heroes growing up. I still have that album, :)
@goodndite Nope; Appice played with everyone from Paul Stanley to Jeff Beck, but the album liner notes say Billy Squier and Bobby Chouinard played percussion :-)

Am i the only 13 year old that was raised on 80's music like this? And i still listen to it. I <3 it. I love Billy Squier... So much. Hes the best.... I listen to him like everyday. <33
I was a HUGE Billy Squier fan - got "Don't Say No" in my Easter Basket when I was 8 - and he ended up being my neighbor in NYC from 1995 till I moved to another part of town in 2000...I called my brother, gasping 'remember how much we LOVED Billy Squier? He's my neighbor!!!" You never stop being a fan, and that's a beautiful thing.
I graduated ten years after this was released, but it was still a major part of the soundtrack to my high school years. This and Rock Me Tonight, My Kinda Lover, and any number of other Billy Squier songs. I'd like to think there are kids in high school right now who can say the same thing.
I don't know who marked Rasdok's comment as spam, but they can just piss off. Do a favor good people and mark his comment as not spam and give him a thumbs up if you are a true Squier fan.
@Rasdock ---i can definatley say the same thing-i love classic rock, and have since i was little, i listen to just about any genre of music, but the classics is something you just cant beat man :) im the only 19 year old in my town that blasts ozzy when ever im at work, everyone else justs cranks up their rap "music" and thiks they're cool,
@Rasdock I can certainly remember some high school crusing to this..........17 yrs old, without a care in the world. Just your friends, some girls, and a fast car........
yeah, as a teen of the 80's as well, i can most def relate to what you said. Your comment below too about Rock Me Tonight was on target too. The vid, opened my eyes about who/what exactly he was singing about, but if you think of it towards the one you love, it matters not what his preferences were, good music is good music : )
@Rasdock , I'm 14. I know how you feel. It took a year for me to get my friend to listen to Supertramp, and now he can't stop. I think parents should just make kids listen to this stuff while they grow up...
@Rasdock many a mornings and afternoons id roll thru my high school blastin the classics such as billy squier and everybody would look at me like i was crazy, but theyre the crazy ones for not appreciating how awesome this music is
@Rasdock how is this a soundtrack for your high school years? Is it because your blood runs cold, your memory has just been sold, your angel is a centerfold?
@CageFighter258 .... "Do you need a friend an' would you tell no lies
Would you take me in an' are you lonely in the dark, IN THE DARK.... " Great song still love it after all these years, the whole album was great NO is GREAT!!! CHEERS ;)
@lakeladymel your so right. I remember going to 4 Record Stores to finally get this when it first came out!!! Still love it to this day, great album, great songs, takes me waaaaay back lol! CHEERS to your good taste :)

@Rasdock
yeah, as a teen of the 80's as well, i can most def relate to what you said.

@Rasdock how is this a soundtrack for your high school years? Is it because your blood runs cold, your memory has just been sold, your angel is a centerfold?

Back, in the day this song was the quintessential stripper song and many years after. I am pretty sure that this is what the song is about.

I'm glad I listened to this stuff when I was growing up. Otherwise I wouldn't have a taste for the classics.
