  • I love all his songs he is awesome this is what u call music!!

  • totally agree-this song & "my kind of lover" make Billy Squier worthwhile.

  • @pigalow2002

everybody wants you > my kinda lover

  • i'm 19 and i have LOVED this song for as long as i can remember... my parents taught me to like awesome music :)

  • I accidentally carried this tape cassette (ages me I know) into rehab when I was 16. During that month, I think it helped me more than the hours and hours of group therapy and councelling I received.

  • @george8404 Billy Squire isn't gay. People often think that because of his music video "Rock Me Tonite" which shows Squier dancing around a bedroom in a pink tank top. The video was directed by some homo who makes Richard Simmons seem like Chuck Norris. He's actually married to a german soccer player named Nicole Banecki.

  • Nothing he did was autotuned!! Check him out live..I rest my case.

  • He never got traction back in the day because of his sexual orientation. How stupid?? I am as straight as they come but Billy seriously kicks ass and I can appreciate his talent

  • First contact high ever was........In The Dark!!!!! 1983 I miss You!!!!

  • Squier rocks!

  • One of my fave Billy Squier tunes besides My Kinda Lover ..

  • I think Miley Sirus is better

  • @AKcharger ultimate FAIL.

  • @AW71 Another Trolin' victim...lol!

  • @AKcharger

I think you are just looking for fucking trouble

  • @AKcharger

  • I saw this concert . He was the warm up band for Queen. It was a bad ass night. :)

  • Truly excellent rock song!

  • ya just don't get Rock like this any more. i like a lot of new music but i always find im singing the classics cruising around. good times.

  • these speakers dont go loud enough!!

  • I luv this song.

  • My favorite tune from Billy Squire hands down, killer tune, great groove.

  • @bassmanjoe

It is very good but Lonely is the Night should be up there too as long as My Kinda Lover.

  • @broskiskunk I agree

  • Anyone under 30 that likes this, good for you. When this record came out, he was called girl rock. Music critics gave him hell. he not only wrote the songs, he played most of the instruments. Like Prince, he was a 1 man band in the studio.

    Music with passion.

  • This song really rocks!

  • One of my favorite songs that came across the Walgreens intercom.

  • man those were the days me and my long black hair. and Billy Squier. man i used to turn this song up i didn't care if my people heared it out side. lol

  • ONe of his best. Great tune.

  • Met billy squier today (oct 6, 2011) at my old middle school, one of the coolest guys you can ever meet in person. i was rehearsing lonely is the night with him and after rehearsal he was nice enough to show me the solo for lonely is the night. today's generation of kids just don't know what they're missing out on now a days.

  • @WithinThePower Don't Say No was my very first album ever!! And I love him as much to day as I did 30 years ago!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @WithinThePower I so envy you! I've always wanted to meet him. Was this in NY? LOVE his music.

  • @maryfromma at my old middle school first, then in new york we performed lonely is the night for little kids rock :)

  • Comment removed

  • @WithinThePower I'm so jealous! If you ever meet him again, tell him a girl in NC still LOVES him! His music stands the test of time. Good rock and roll is timeless.

  • @maryfromma haha no problem :)

  • I luv this song

  • CLASSIC!!!

  • Love that strum at 2:44 :-)

  • I am a professional musician in Branson, Mo. When i get home I turn my Marshall's up to 11 and play guitar until my wife tells me to shut the fuck up,'You don't sound anything like Eddie Money....

  • @notherbuschlight HA! That was funny, I'm that kind of wife also....it's all good.

  • @notherbuschlight LOL, Eddie Money! Just today I was just reminiscing about my time on one of Eddie's tours as part of the lighting crew.

  • IN THE DARK

    I AM

  • The opening riff kind of reminds me of In the Evening by Led Zeppelin. Anyone agree?

  • Wellesley, Massachusetts boy. Nice to have a serious local rocker... when I was in jr high listening to AAF, and now, commuting on The Pike and 128 listening to 80's on 8. ;-)

  • Oh man music has so went down hill i cant belive what high schoolers now a days listen to compared to the high schoolers in the 70s. WHAT A FUCKING JOKE RIGHT? Thumbs up if true.

  • @EricRivera187 Can you believe that shit that they call music. My son is 12 & thank god he rocks out with me

  • @EricRivera187 ya most mainstream sucks but theres still tecno nowadays witch u wouldent understand but its good, where i live its a mix of all music i party with 80s rock sumtimes, sumtimes hiphop/rap, sumtimes dubstep/ tecno, and others

  • @EricRivera187

i wish more teenagers were like me and actually appreciated this stuff :/

  • @EricRivera187 Actually I'm in high school, and I'm listening to this. My parents raised me on music like this, and I love it. :)

But I get what you're saying. I'm a senior, and I can't really speak for the music taste of most people around my age, especially younger.

  • Billy hit #35 in Billboard, 10-24-81. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • This man is so hot.....

  • Damn ....grew up listening to great music such as this ....thnx to my mother ...she was a big time rocker back in her day ....I'm now 20 and gonna pass this music on to my kids in the future :)

  • @mschar2u17 Good man!

  • @dustobusto man? woman ! :p

  • i was 14 when this album came out. It was good through my mid high years and high school years. It is a time in my life where there were no worries I like to refer to them as my Glory days.

  • This music is coming back, at least I'm trying to do it.

  • 2 people suck, yup thats how clever i am

  • Miss those days. hanging with friends on friday/saturday nights, and car cruising with your best girl. (now wife) : ) long time ago.

  • Im in high school an this music is fuckin awsome dude, i wish they would play stuff like this on the radio theses days! music has taken a big flop into stupid shit like that bieber fag, wtf is that gay shit? music is supposed to sound bad ass, not pretty an gay? when you listen to music it is supposed to make you feel like partying not doing cart weels!

  • @EllysStuff you crack me up. You are so right, I could not have said it better.

  • Great singer, Great song.

  • My favorite Billy Squier song of his early '80s rock star period. I love "Rock Me Tonite," "Everybody Wants You," and others, and this is the way one that will always say "Billy Squier" to me. Besides, you gotta love that Massachusetts-flavored pronunciation of "in the dark" as "in the dahk"! It gets me every time I hear it,and I will be hearing it MANY more times. Thanks,Billy.

  • Despite Billy Squier's terrible video for "Rock me Tonite", I still see Squier as a great musician.

  • @ed2point0 it wasn't "his" video. Kenny Ortega directed it. It's a shame that Squier's later albums hardly got any attention, especially Tell the Truth.

  • Billy is an amazing songwriter and musician.

  • bad boys baby, haha!!

  • Oooooh I remember putting Billy on many times,The ladies just seemed to melt. Thanks Mr. Squier LoL..thumbs up for Rasdocks post.Right on!!!

Thanks for the jamm Burythneedle !!!

  • If you want to hear a great, early Billy tune, check out "Little Miss Intent" by his band Piper. Its creativity and his exceptional ability make it a glimpse into the greatness that was to become Billy Squier.

  • I can't tell you how far back this takes me. Some of my inner self is in this song. Still the one, turn the page.

  • Wicked Good Band, Don't know what happened, saw them 6 times in concert, its a shame they aren't still around

  • im only 14 and in my entire lifetime i will never see or hear of any rock songs that you can call rock like this and all of billys songs i wish people would take some time and listen to at least 1 of there songs and see how much music has changed this is rock none of that new crap you can barley understand ....... thumbs up if you agree!!!!

  • @CompleteRCmods it looks like the rock era is over, sorry guy.

  • @CompleteRCmods If you are only 14 or 15 now and love this, I salute you! TSgt Carlo USAF! Operations: Provide Comfort, Northern Watch, Allied Force, Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom.

  • @CompleteRCmods I was 14 when I found an old cassette & it was this.Of course I'm 35 now but the fact you like this shows an open mind 2 all good music.

  • Every song from Billy Squier is fucking fantasic

  • Best Squier Tune........

  • check it nice......lpc

  • I was born in 79. This song brings back memories. I was very young but traveling around my dad would put on Billy Squire at times

  • this song brings back some memmories that i wish i could see again and it makes me tear up thinking of the emotional memories

  • @SonicAirsoftReviews I have the same memories with "lonley is the night" I feel your Pain.....Bring back the last great generation....

  • @alphacruza - You suck.

  • this guy sucked ... geek

  • YOU FUCKIN IDIOTS DONT KNOW SHIT,I WAS LICKIN PUSS AND SNFFIN COCAINE LISTENING TO THIS TUNE... ITS A FUCKIN GOOD TUNE NO MORE NO LESS. A ROCKER

  • @beernardflynn Yeah Bitches!!

  • @beernardflynn finally the truth awsome!

  • I was actually born in 82... but this song is awesome, all the way... 80s music is the best

  • High fives to MrVeesworld ; I quote him, " Just epicness on a daily dosage." Billy Squire in Kansas City 1983..... pass the vees yo.

  • Like MrVeesworld said" Just epicness on a daily dosage." young ,wild ,and free ! please pass the vee's.....to the extreme !

  • Oh man the 10th grade circa 1982. You could not escape this song in San Jose California back then. Excellent era for music (Height of Heavy metal, New Wave, Skate-punk,Michael Jackson -Thriller) Just epicness on a daily dosage.

  • for some reason, i wrote him off or whatever, even though i've listended to thousands of artists

i am so glad i came to my senses later on...i would have missed an amazing musician

    love this song

  • i honestly just discovered this man but i sure do love what i have heard so far

  • awesome :)

  • 0 people have bad taste in music! YAY

  • I graduated in 2009 and I listened to this whole cd a TON when I was in school. GO BILLY SQUIER!!!

  • Billy Squier brings back good memories! I saw him in St. Louis as the warm-up for Pat Benatar. What a night! :)

  • Great tune.

  • Wow, 0 dislikes, rare to see. I thought, after whole hour of listening to this, that i can go to sleep, but no. Not yet. Just a bit more...

    Love the vocals on 0:48!!!

  • The current word is.. that Billy is gonna do a real tour in 2011.. And he was on eddie trunks' show on XM/Sirius in 2 separate parts in the fall of 2010 talking about his complete career for nealy 4 hours commercial free.. So do pay attention- the trunk is our friend in rock-

  • "You guard your hopes and you pocket your dreams, you'd trade it all to avoid an unpleasant scene."

There's my life in a nutshell.

  • @axeshredstorm69 sad to say....same here

  • Billy Squier was my first concert...1982...I was 9 yrs old. Still love him, always always will a huge fan. I wish, I hope I can see him in concert again.

  • THIS SONG IS EPIC

  • Zero dislikes. Yeah.

  • I used to get in my vette wearing my bell bottoms and butter fly collar drop the top so my 4ft of hair could blow in the wind put on my ray bans and drive 189 miles an hour rocking this.

  • This guy is the best 80s artist I've heard--yet he didn't seem to be a huge name. Why?

  • @np392 I just turned 58 and have not yet learned to hate rock n roll. I love it still. It reminds me of the good and bad times and I can't get enough of it. I used to play this for my nurses and doctors on Iraq. They'd never heard of Squier! ll5 degrees and we boogied till we couldn't stand up anymore. Good music, good guy!!

  • @57IAM I am about to turn 56 and I feel the same way. Never to old to rock and roll. Rock on!!

  • I was a HUGE Billy Squier Fan -- got "Don't Say No" album in my Easter Basket when I was 8! Yes, I had a cool mother who is a music freak as well. When I moved to NYC in 1995, I lived on the Upper West Side and my neighbor was no other than...Billy Squier. I called my big brother and was like "OMG, guess who my neighbor is??" He had been off the radar for a long while, but you never forget those who were your heroes growing up. I still have that album, :)

  • Didn't Carmine Appice play drums on this album? Great tune. I never got to see Squier live but heard from friends that he was great.

  • @goodndite No, Bobby Chouinard did. Sadly, he passed away a few years back.

  • @goodndite Nope; Appice played with everyone from Paul Stanley to Jeff Beck, but the album liner notes say Billy Squier and Bobby Chouinard played percussion :-)

  • This guy was one of the top 5 concerts in the 80s........helluva talent

  • the opening of this song is very similar to going to california by Led Zep.. I believe that is the song, its one of Zep's songs Im thinkin of.

  • @bbutters2 Defenitely not Going To California. The intro style is alot like the intro to In The Evening by Zep, but this one I believe uses sytnesizer while Zep's version is Page playing a guitar with a bow and an electronic device known as a Gizmotron hooked up to the guitar giving the otherworldly sound effect.

  • Am i the only 13 year old that was raised on 80's music like this? And i still listen to it. I <3 it. I love Billy Squier... So much. Hes the best.... I listen to him like everyday. <33

  • I was a HUGE Billy Squier fan - got "Don't Say No" in my Easter Basket when I was 8 - and he ended up being my neighbor in NYC from 1995 till I moved to another part of town in 2000...I called my brother, gasping 'remember how much we LOVED Billy Squier? He's my neighbor!!!" You never stop being a fan, and that's a beautiful thing.

  • I graduated ten years after this was released, but it was still a major part of the soundtrack to my high school years. This and Rock Me Tonight, My Kinda Lover, and any number of other Billy Squier songs. I'd like to think there are kids in high school right now who can say the same thing.

  • I don't know who marked Rasdok's comment as spam, but they can just piss off. Do a favor good people and mark his comment as not spam and give him a thumbs up if you are a true Squier fan.

  • @ReneeNme Thanks for having my back, Renee.

  • @Rasdock Hell yeah bro.

I got "Dont say no" at a flea market,

popped it in and was completely blown away by the whole thing. Especially the first song.

  • @supuhfanng I got my tape from my sister. I still have it somewhere.

  • @Rasdock

Good point. This came out during my time and I shared your same thoughts way back then.

  • @Rasdock ---i can definatley say the same thing-i love classic rock, and have since i was little, i listen to just about any genre of music, but the classics is something you just cant beat man :) im the only 19 year old in my town that blasts ozzy when ever im at work, everyone else justs cranks up their rap "music" and thiks they're cool,

  • @Rasdock Lol my son listens to this... he is a metal head but he says it is better then half the crap released today

  • @Rasdock

    I can :P

  • @Rasdock Agreed.

  • @Rasdock Rock Me Tonight ruined him :/ Though I am a huge fan nonetheless.

  • @Rasdock I can certainly remember some high school crusing to this..........17 yrs old, without a care in the world. Just your friends, some girls, and a fast car........

  • @Rasdock

yeah, as a teen of the 80's as well, i can most def relate to what you said. Your comment below too about Rock Me Tonight was on target too. The vid, opened my eyes about who/what exactly he was singing about, but if you think of it towards the one you love, it matters not what his preferences were, good music is good music : )

  • @Rasdock , I'm 14. I know how you feel. It took a year for me to get my friend to listen to Supertramp, and now he can't stop. I think parents should just make kids listen to this stuff while they grow up...

  • @Rasdock many a mornings and afternoons id roll thru my high school blastin the classics such as billy squier and everybody would look at me like i was crazy, but theyre the crazy ones for not appreciating how awesome this music is

  • @Rasdock how is this a soundtrack for your high school years? Is it because your blood runs cold, your memory has just been sold, your angel is a centerfold?

  • @Rasdock was the stroke one of those songs oh yeah and \m/

  • @Rasdock I do ^_^

  • awesome...billy squire was just too cool

is it true he is gay?

  • Back, in the day this song was the quintessential stripper song and many years after. I am pretty sure that this is what the song is about.
