They are intended to be comedic (this video, although a message, wasn't meant to be serious). This is just my take on comedy. And it's unfortunate FOR ME that I didn't meet the obligation I set for myself and dissatisfied. I am eternally thankful for the support that I have been given through subscribers and that they find some humor in my. That is what I meant by that statement.

Other than that, he loves Christine, and no matter how I hate him, he truly cares about her. He wouldn't go drunk and beat her or gamble away their money. He loves her, he really does.

I'm actually going to do an animated contempoary Phantom of the Opera where the character who is based on Raoul is the main character, and he's actually the exact opposite of what most people who don't like Raoul percieve him to be, my "Raoul" (In my case his name is Max) is actually a very very shy and gentle person, who if anything feels he's not worthy of the Christine based character....he's not at all a fop....in fact you really feel sorry for him because of what happens to him in the story

musical/movie wise, I'd have to say E/C. even though in the musical and movie he kills, kidnaps, and yeah...he has a lot more of a background (the whole devils child thing), and they make Erik a much more helpless looking guy. and even though he killed Buquet- not like he was a good kind of guy anyway. @balletluve If you want to speak in years, Raoul and Christine met when they were seven. Of course he couldn't write to her then because of social situations and the fact that he joined the Navy on top of it. When he came back, of course he remembered her when she was singing center stage at an opera house. He came to her looking for friendship and that grew to something more adult. And unlike Erik, he never manipulated or threatened her ever.

In the stage musical, the time is never said but in alternate lyrics, Christine says that her father died 3 years ago ergo 3 years is the longest they could have known each other. Either way, it doesn't matter how long one knows someone, it matters how they treat each other. Erik was prone to outbursts and other behaviors like that. I don't mean to hate on E/C (I for one love it) but it's not as true as R/C

Like all E/C shippers I went through a Raoul-hatred face too and sometimes made even cruel fun of him. (The '04 film was my first PotO.) But I never appreciated the bad phanphics that tutned him utterly OOC as in into the abusive drunk asshole. He just never deserved that level of hatred.

I think it was in a years time that I started liking Raoul as a comical character in more affectionate and friendly tone. So i still don't like him as a serious character or take him too seriously.

For the record, I looked the cat thing up in the book. And my verdict is:

I have no idea.

Here's what I do know:

1. Raoul hit SOMETHING, because there was blood.

2. The eyes he fired at were at the level of a man's height, because there was a bullet hole in the window at that level.

3. Erik didn't get killed, and showed no sign of grievous injury in the remainder of the book. In fact, Christine kissed him on the forehead, which is the general area Raoul was aiming for.
