  • was this in rahway? Just got back a few days ago from the sambo tournament there...

  • @planefreak3

    yes

  • @sambosteve oh, cool. did your club also compete in the Sambo Open?

  • @planefreak3

yes we did. 2 of my folks. 2 Bronze medals

  • @sambosteve oh congrats about that, our club got some too

  • i've been looking for a sambo school recently, and i just found out the Rosati school is 20 minutes from where i attend college. Definitely checking it out.

  • I will be doing a seminar there on NOV 15

  • they were talking about that tonight during sambo class...the boys (and everyone else) are really looking forward to it! and thanks again for all the videos...my son and i are still enjoying them.

  • my 8 year old son attends the rosati school. it's great. he's been doing sambo with them for a little while now and loves it....he's one of the little guys who competed in the tournament featured in the video above. the rosati school has some good guys running their program. two of the coaches did very well in the tournament.

  • Damn you Vincent! Damn you and your foot sweeps! :) 0:52

  • I probably couldn't like sambo if it weren't for Combat and Freestyle I'm not much of a pin person more of a striker and if I can't strike atleast got KOs by chokes

  • the black dude looks solid!!!

    nice vid over all too!

  • :54 very nice foot sweep(ashi bari) & very giid kuzushi or set up.

  • I would sell my first born child, to be able to throw like your sambo players.

  • I noticed a choke, I thought chokes are not allowed in sambo..

  • Chokes are not allowed under standard Sport Sambo rules, but they are allowed under Freestyle Sambo and Combat Sambo.

Freestyle is one of the different Sambo rulesets that are used in the USA.

  • No Ippons?

  • nope.

no total victory throws in freestyle sambo.

  • yeah, ok, but I don't see any throws where the thrower retains control of one arm, stays standing and the other guy falls. was there one? just asking

  • why would there be?

you throw someone and then you follow them to the mat so you can finish them with a submission. you dont throw someone and then just let them stand back up.

  • it would be great if there was, but no. the mindset of sambo practitioners allows for them to hustle, so they wont be standing after a throw, they'd dive for the choke or submission. we had ippon when i used to compete in judo, but it didnt really tell judges about our abilities to finish, so ippon got taken away in judo competitions(most) in canada

  • All depends on the rules. Sambo, sport, you have to get the pin or the sub. But basically you have to show efffective ontrol of your opponent.
