  • goddamn that lead channel sounds ridiculously good

  • thanks for doing this man.. I have a Peavy Vypyr 60 tube and didn't know if there would be any difference in sound between the 6505 setting on it and the actual 6505... I don't even know if I could make my amp sound better or not either...nobody has a vid up about it.. So i'm thinking i'll get the 6505 plus if I can sell my Vypyr off and try to pick me up a Mesa Cab... I'm trying to get a mix between Killswitch Engage's sound and All That Remains but i'm stumped on how to get there...

  • Only4givenOnce Continued from last post........ How to get there from my current set up.. I have a ESP LTD M-2 with Ahb 1 Seymour Duncan Blackouts and a Scheter Diamond Series C+ with A Push pull Over drive boost made by EMG and stock nickle plated Pick ups.. so if you know anything at all I could do with my set up that would help me get there with out having to buy all new gear that would b awesome..

  • Just get tubes that are a good price and durable, worrying about tubes for tonal differences is pointless fetishism.

  • what kinda settings do you use with that boiling point overdrive?

  • @TheRyanmluke Depends, I run the gain between 2 o clock and maxed out. The drive is between 7 and 9 o clock which depends on the sound I'm shooting for. The tone sits between 10 and 2 o clock. I don't use the bass boost and the drive selector is in the middle.

  • Really great sound out of your 6505+ :) I dig it

  • Could you share amp and DBX 231 EQ settings?

  • thanks bro

  • Who knows what's the song on the clean channel??

  • Do you have the gain on 10? Isn't that a little... much?

  • I forgot to ask what the settings were on the 6505+ for the demo? Since I gotta turn my pregain to like 7 to get a nice saturated crunch then I think it may be time to change tubes. Peavey told me today on the phone to change the powertubes first but your video shows the preamp tube making a huge difference in sound.

  • I've been thinking of messing with my 6505+ head. When I call Peavey they are nice on the phone but won't really talk about tubes or biasing except that -55 is factory and going over is bad. So I gotta go hunting on youtube then for info. So my question is what about Electro-Harmonix 12AX7EH Preamp Tubes compared to JJ? My factory preamps are a mix of JJ and Sovtecks. I heard JJ are noisy and lower gain and muddier to 12AX7EH. How does the V 1-3 postions make a difference for tube type anyway?

  • @Ikillpeopleforfree The EH tubes have the same gain as the JJs. The EH tubes are more of a well balanced tube and are less noisy. Positions V1 and V2 contribute to the input and lead channel. V3 is the FX loop. V5 is the other tube which contributes to the lead channel. I honestly don't remember the settings. They change all the time. I'm curious why they would tell you to change your power tubes. How old is the amp? What do you run your post at?

  • @staytrue0407 I run my post between 1-3 while practicing which is most of the time since I don't play out much lately. I set my pregain to 6-7 and all EQ at 6-6-6. Pres. is 9 and Res. is 8. I bought the amp used on Crglst as a 2009 model. Still has factory tubes. 3- JJ83s12AX7, 1 EH12AX7, and 1 sovtec in phase spot V4. I learned today after being on the phone with Peavey (who are a great group) that V1 is the 2nd from right and V6 is the furthest to right! He says V1 is most critical for tone.

  • @staytrue0407 I am gonna order a complete set of (6)JJCC83s12AX7 and (4) JJ6L6's for powertubes. My amp sounds nothing like your clean and your lead is more brutal. I only had this beast for 4 months now and it sounds good but I want your tone and gain sound for sure, so I am gonna order from Tube depot now. Peavey says that the bias dial can be turned all the way hot and it won't hurt anything as it was made not to. I multimetered at 51 at hottest setting possible and 55 is factory setting.

  • dude are you running both the decimator and ns-2 if So how, both fx loop or 1 fx and 1 direct in?

  • @neiletfc ISP in front, Boss in the loop

  • It's too bad that most people fall for so much of the snake oil that go's around about tubes. Know enough about tubes and amps and you can save a lot of money and disapointment. Tungsol 12ax7 and Electro Harmonix 12ax7 are the exact same tube, made in the exact same factory in Russia(New Sensor) to the exact same specs, but branded with different names.Ruby 12ax7 and Groovetubes 12ax7 are the exact same tube(Shuguang),made in the same factory to the same specs.Only JJs are from a different factory

  • What are the settings you used on the amp for this video?

  • very cool videos dude!

  • @MattismPL Thanks man

  • I have this head, I love my tone, I mean idk how to explain it I dont really see people do this with their eq so idk if it doesn't sound good to other people? but I have my bass 4 and mid at 6 and my high at 3 it sounds killer, it has a nice warm bottom end to it. idk try it let me know what you think

  • from 5:10 to 5:12 look at your 6505, it moves lmao!!

  • great vid dude:) i have a jsx and 5150 II and love them both, cant beat peavey for great metal tone AND value for money:)

  • @shaminky Thanks. The 6505 series of amps does one thing REALLY well, that's metal. I will always own one and recommend them to anyone.

  • i dont see where it matters THAT much. the head flat kicks ass.no matter what u use. imo u just waisted a bunch of time. lol. WHAT I MEAN IS IT ALL SOUNDED KILLER BRO!!!!!!!!

  • Penta's for the win. Great video!

  • what was that last tube?

  • @Ryator08 Penta Labs 12AX7

  • @staytrue0407 gracias.

  • Excellent.

  • @minnymadness Thanks

  • can i have your amp for christmas? :)

  • I like the one with the pentalab the best!

  • @Dutchieboy20 Yup. I absolutely love what it does in both amps I own.

  • Get a 6534 and you wont need to worry about noise suppressors..

  • @dbenc Really? OO

  • @HavxHHH not sure if your being sarcastic but the 6534+ is a much quieter amp than the 6505+.. much better cleans too.

  • @dbenc No im not i was being serious haha Im deciding between the 34 and 05, and I like to use cleans but I also love playing metal.

  • @HavxHHH cleans are much better with the 34 buy a mile and the 34 is as heavy if not heavier also the 34 has a built in circuit to eliminate hiss that the 05 has. the 6534 is just a better version than the 05, its just that the 05 is a classic that people love and is great for metal but the 34 was built because peavey listened to what the public asked of them and hence the 34.

  • @dbenc I think my mind is made up then haha

  • thanks for doing this video! but why do you have two noise suppressors?

  • @cavenasty The ISP kills feedback, the NS-2 kills amp noise in the loop.

  • @staytrue0407 Ahh okay. Thanks for the response.
