Johnfegy, thanks for the info. I didn't mean to infer I was bagging on him, I was just curious. Sandes is pretty incredible, for sure. Like you, even in 100s where muling is allowed I like to carry my own stuff. There is just a sense accomplishment I feel knowing I went end to end that way.
Was he really running without carrying water bottles the second half of that race or were his pacers muling it for him? I thought that was against the rules. Maybe it isn't at Leadville now. Decent video.
@jun2932 Pacers are allowed to mule for runners at leadville. Not sure how new of a rule it is, but it was allowed back in '09. I know I still wanted to carry my own water....so props to Ryan.

Ryan Sandes is an amazing runner and I am not surprised he looks so fresh upon finishing..the guy is a horse!

I think, it was fake finish, and that running wasn't from the real race. How would be your face coming the first on finish after 100 miles?
It does not matter how strong you are, you'll not be very fresh on a mile of 80+ :)
